Herbsts is a family-owned cidery producing natural, locally crafted cider in the western region of Latvia, Kurzeme.

Our Story
This is a story of old orchards, wild apple trees, and a passionate pursuit of creating ciders with a unique Baltic flavour.

Apples 
Cider is made from apples hand-picked in a 60-year-old orchard. The search for distinctive cider flavours also lead the cider makers to the wild, where forest apples with unique tastes are found. During the winter months, a slow fermentation process transforms the apple juice into a flavourful and refreshing drink.

Ciders 
Each cider tells a story of how its distinctive, unique flavour was discovered. The experiments and dedication were rewarded at the Nordic Cider Competition (NICA) in 2023, where "Dullais Dauka" won a gold medal and "Plūsis" took silver – the first international recognition for Herbsts ciders.

For Visitors 
Each autumn, cider harvest gatherings are organised, offering everyone a chance to enjoy active time in the orchard, taste previous years' ciders, and enjoy a meal cooked over an open fire. And, of course, there’s the chance to pick juicy apples perfect for cider making.

Abava Winery, located in the Abava River Valley in Kurzeme, invites you to sample Latvia’s fruit and berry ciders, wines, and distillates.

Our Story
The inspiration to create the winery came to the owners during their honeymoon trip, while visiting Europe’s oldest wineries. It is now regarded as the largest winery and cidery in Latvia.

Apples
The 4-hectare apple orchard includes trees planted during the Soviet era, representing the industrial apple varieties of that time. 

Ciders 
Abava ciders are made from apples grown in Latvia and stand out with their distinctive northern flavour – a classic Old World heritage, enriched with northern herbs, berries, fruit characteristics, and bold creative blends. Abava ciders have been awarded at international exhibitions and competitions.

For Visitors 
The owners invite you to visit the cidery, learn about the story of cider, and enjoy various ciders during a tasting. Groups can order platters of snacks and catering. During the harvest season, guests are invited to participate in apple picking. The cider estate also offers venues for events, seminars, parties, corporate gatherings, and celebrations.

Lauskis cider is crafted from organically grown apples in a nearly century-old apple orchard.

Our Story
The Lauskis winery and cidery was established in 2019. The ciders and fruit wines are produced in the 300-year-old vaulted cellars of Krape Manor, located in the parish of Lēdmane. The owner, Vents Grīnbaums, named the winery in honour of his great-grandfather Vilis Lausks, a well-known Latvian fruit grower and teacher at the Bulduri Horticultural School.

Apples
The apple harvest is still gathered from apple trees planted almost 100 years ago.

Ciders
The cidery produces semi-dry and semi-sweet apple cider, as well as apple-and-chokeberry cider. Lauskis ciders have won awards at the Nordic International Cider Awards (NICA) and the international cider competition SISGA in Asturias, Spain.

For visitors
Visitors are welcome to learn all about cider-making at the manor, sampling ciders and local snacks. With advance notice, anyone can join in on apple picking and juice pressing in autumn.

Līgatne Winery is a family business that produces special ciders in the Gauja National Park.

Our Story
Līgatne Winery is a family business established in 2010 with the aim of producing high-quality, delicious homemade wine from berries and fruits grown in Latvia. For several years now, the company has also been producing cider.

Apples
The family’s orchard is located in Gauja National Park, where they use autumn and winter apple varieties to create sweet apple ice cider and semi-sweet quince cider. The newer cider apple trees, known for their red flesh, yield a juice that gives the cider a pink hue.

Ciders
They produce sweet apple ice cider and semi-sweet quince cider.

For Visitors
Tastings are held by candlelight in the sandstone cave "Lustūzis" in Līgatne, accompanied by stories about the historical Līgatne paper mill village, caves, cliffs, and the traditions of winemaking and cider production. As a snack to pair with the drinks, cheese made from fresh milk from a local farm is offered.

On the west coast of the Gulf of Riga, in the village of Kaltene, SIA “Rožkalns” produces homemade wines and ciders, fish products and other delicacies made from berries and flowers picked in the garden and forest.

This winery produces wine from fruits and berries from its own garden, as well as from wild fruits and berries – raspberry, apple, gooseberry, blackberry, strawberry, red bilberry, rowanberry, blueberry, red currant, elderberry, shadberry and dandelion wine.  The main product is sparkling wine from raspberries that is similar to Champagne.  The wines can be tasted at the cosy winery, which has a garden terrace.  During the summer, visitors can tour the garden, which is partly landscaped and partly wild.  Talk to the owner in advance, and he will prepare a campfire on which you will be able to cook food that you bring with you and enjoy it with the wine.  There are also fruit and berry juices for children.

Turkalne Manor Brewery and Cidery is a place where history meets modern technology.

Our Story
The history of the manor dates back to 1604. In 2018, its current owner restored the manor's barn and set up a brewery, winery, and cidery within it.

Apples
In the Turkalne Manor orchard, covering 1 hectare, the apple varieties 'Sīpoliņš', 'Auksis', 'Antonovka', 'Remo', 'Spartan' are grown.

Ciders 
At Turkalne Manor, they make apple cider, apple-rhubarb cider, and mulled cider.

For Visitors 
Guests are offered tastings in the historic barn building. The second floor of the barn features a large space for events such as weddings, family celebrations, seminars, and training sessions. Catering can be arranged in advance. Accommodation and event hosting venues are available 1 km away at the Turbas leisure complex. A tour of the Turkalne Manor grounds with a story about the manor’s history and restoration is also offered.

Tourists can learn about the history of the estate and the brewing of beer, beginning with raw materials and ending with finished products. The visit is enriched by tastings of live beer and stories about Latvia’s traditional holiday beverage. Alongside the brewery is a store which sells live beer, homemade goodies and selected souvenirs.

The “Valmiermuižas alus virtuve” saloon popularises Latvian beers and uses beer in various dishes. A modern approach to homemade products is used to prepare foods and beer-based snacks. There is a beer garden during the summer, and the saloon merges traditional things with modern ones.

Latvian cuisine: Smoked pork, filet of pike from Lake Burtnieks, green pea mash, with loganberries, quince, pumpkin birch juice and mushroom sauce as accompaniments.

Special foods: Slice of pork marinated in unfiltered winter beer.

Restoring Renda's winemaking traditions, which were relevant during the time of Duke Jacob, when Renda's sour red wine was popular in Jelgava court, it is offered to taste wine and pumpkin seeds in Mārtiņš Wagner's Vineyard and winery in Renda, it is also possible to see the grape and pumpkin garden.

The Tērvete brewery produces not only beer, but also the thirst-quenching and refreshing kvass drink made from rye malt extract. The brewery was built in 1971. Over time, it has developed and become a modern factory of natural beverages of a high quality. The produce can be purchased on-site.

The small winery of the holiday house "Spilve" offers to buy and taste grape wines and distillates. The unique products are made from home-grown grapes, apples, rhubarb and honey. During the warmer months, guests are welcome to take an excursion through the vineyards. The cozy outdoor terrace offers wine tasting with snacks, small visitors and drivers with fruit juices!

Birch sap for Labanovski family is a popular drink already for a long time. Sap is tasty when it’s fresh, but in order to maintain its refreshing and valuable qualities,  during many years family has developed new recipes.  Moving away from the traditional spices, drink was supplemented with mint, which made the sap more refreshing, fresh for a long time and with a pleasant flavor.

Abuls ir viena no vispieredzējušākajām sidra darītavām Latvijā. Dara artizānisku sidru Smiltenes pievārtē, Ziemeļvidzemē.

Vēsture
Sidra darīšana ir sākta jau 2000. gadā, katru gadu aizrautīgi ekspermentējot ar vietējiem āboliem. Vēlāk iedvesma gūta, viesojoties sidra zemēs Normandijā, Astūrijā, Somersetā un Basku zemē. Kopš 2018. gada sidrs tiek darīts pie ābeļdārza no jauna izbūvētā sidra pagarbā Abula upes pašā augštecē.

Sidra dārzā aug aptuveni 400 ābeles - dažas angļu īpašās sidra ābles, vietējās mežābeles, paradīzes ābolu un vietējās vēlās rudens ābolu šķrnes. Īstās ābolu šķirnes tiek meklētas arī, dodoties ekspedīcijās Latvijas dabā - mežmalās, grāvjos, pamestos dārzos. 

Sidri
Sidru dara, izmantojot baltvīna darīšanas metodes, kas ļauj maksimāli saglabāt sidra svaigumu un vietējo abolu aromātu. Visi Abula sidri ir roku darbs. Sidrs arī tiek raudzēts, izmantojot ābolu miziņās esošos savvaļas raugus, iegūstot dabīgu ābolu sulas saldumu.

Pēc ekskursijas pa ābeļdārzu un Raiņa bērnu dienu māju, muzeja darbinieki aicinās pie tradicionālā latgaliešu galda, kurā goda vietā būs ābolu ēdieni un dzērieni – ābolu pīrāgs, ābolu debessmanna, cepti āboli un ābolu sula.

Raiskumā pie ezera, bijušās muižas klēts ēkā atrodas SIA ''Raiskuma labumu darītava’’, kurā top maize un alus. Malkas krāsnī tiek cepta dabīgā ierauga rupjmaize un sadskābmaize pēc senām receptēm, kas mantotas no iepriekšējām paaudzēm. Izmantoti tiek tikai dabīgi produkti - rudzu un kviešu milti. Arī alus tiek darināts pēc senām receptēm - gan gaišais, gan tumšais alus ''Raiskumietis''. To gatavojot, izmantots tīrs ūdens no Gaujas nacionālā parka, miežu iesals, apiņi un raugs. Patieso garšu dod ar malku kurināms vārāmais katls.

Iegūst bērzu sulu sīrupu ar reverso osmozi. Tehnoloģiski iespaidīgs skats kā stundā no bērzu sulām izspiež 1,5 tonnas ūdeni. Šeit reversās osmozes iekārtas no bērzu sulām var nospiest 95% tīra ūdens. Līdz ar to atlikušajā bērzu sulas koncentrātā cukura līmenis sasniedz 33% pēc briksa. Koncentrāts tiek iesaldēts un pārdots.

Vēsture
Sidrs tiek darīts Malnavas muižas vēsturiskajā šmakovkas dedzinātavā (1827. g.), kur muižas laikos gatavots Latgales tradicionālais  stiprais dzēriens šmakovka. 

Āboli
Āboli sidram tiek ievākti muižas vecajā ābeļdārzā.

Sidrs
Ražo sauso un pussaldo sidru "Malnovys uobuļu sidrs", ābolu kalvadosu un šmakovku.

Apmeklētājiem
Ekskursijas ar gidu un stāstiem par to, kā Malnvā top īsts stiprais, tradicionālais latgaliešu dzēriens šmakovka un sidrs no vietējiem āboliem. Dzērienu degustācija ar uzkodām. Malnavas muiža zināma kā Vērmahta karaspēka grupas "Ziemeļi" štābs 2. pasaules kara laikā, ko 941. gada 21. jūlijā apmeklējis Nacistiskās Vācijas fīrers Ādolfs Hitlers. Muižas parkā apskatāmi divi dzelzsbetona bunkuri kā šīs tikšanās vieta.

BURSH (SIA „ECOS”) alus darītava – viena no mazākajām alus darītavām Latvijā, kas atrodas starp Zemgales, Vidzemes, Latgales un Sēlijas novadiem – Pļaviņu novada Aiviekstes pagastā. Alus cienītājiem piedāvājam tumšo un gaišo alu BURSH. 
BURSH ir no ūdens, miežu iesala, apiņiem un rauga gatavots, uz malkas krāsns vārīts, ozolkoka mucās raudzēts un 30 dienas gatavināts alus. SIA “ECOS” ražošanā izmanto tikai dabīgas izejvielas. Alus tiek gatavots pēc īpaši BURSH alus darītavai radītas receptes, ievērojot tradicionālās alus gatavošanas metodes.

“Saules veltes” ir mājas vīna darītava Salaspilī, kas nodarbojas ar mājas vīnu, liķieru un degvīnu gatavošanu. Alkoholiskie dzērieni tiek ražoti no dabīgiem dārza augļiem un ogām, tostarp upenēm, avenēm, cidonijām, pīlādžiem un pat mārrutkiem. Apmeklētājiem ir iespēja aplūkot saimniecību (uzņem arī 15-20 lielas tūristu grupas), kā arī degustēt konkrētos dzērienus, kurus arī turpat ir iespējams iegādāties; piedāvājumā lieli un mazi tilpumi, dāvanu un suvenīru komplekti.

The farm offers visitors an excursion around the garden and wine cellars; it is possible to try wine, as well as buy wine, candy and marmalade.

Jaanihanso Cider House makes cider from natural Estonian apples. Here there is a special technique applied to making the cider – the cider clears and matures as same as the best champagne in the world does. Here it’s possible to try different ciders and for additional fee, snacks to with it, as well as take a tour around the Cider House. In this case, registering one week in advance is necessary.

This venue produces homemade fruit, berry and dandelion wine from local products and with no preservatives, as well as interesting products such as spicy plum sauce and fruit and berry conserves. Groups of tourists can go on a tour and taste and purchase the products.

As the owners say, Mūrbūdu Cider is an Abnormal Cider - here are no traditions, and creativity knows no bounds. 

Our Story 
The cidery is located in an ancient stone building in Valka region, next to the ruins of an old Livonian Order castle.

Apples  
Mūrbūdu Cider always strives to do something new and unprecedented, using fruit and berries that are locally sourced from the surrounding area as much as possible.

Ciders  
Experiments with flavours (honey, berries, ginger, and spices) and cider-making methods (aging in oak bourbon barrels, malolactic acid fermentation, fermentation with beer yeast) result in a diverse range of ciders, allowing for the discovery of new and exciting flavours and cider styles. Not all experiments are successful, but the best ones always reach the customers.

For Visitors 
The cidery offers tours with tastings and themed masterclasses led by the owner, as well as the option to create custom programmes.

Naukšēni Winery is an organic farm producing cider from Paradise apples.

Our Story 
Cider and fruit wine have been produced here since 2012. The owner of the winery is Jānis Baunis. Wine production is a family tradition, passed down to the second generation; the founder was Jānis' father, Ilmārs Baunis.

Apples 
The fruits and berries are grown locally in Naukšēni, in the largest Paradise apple orchard in the Baltic, covering an area of 6 hectares. The orchard hosts around 20 different varieties of Paradise apples, with a total of approximately 2000 trees.

Ciders  
The Paradise apples give Naukšēni ciders their special and unique taste.

For Visitors
The owners offer tours of the production facility, where they explain the cider-making process and provide tastings of all available drinks along with snacks. In the autumn, they organise a Paradise apple-picking event, followed by a shared meal and drinks, featuring beverages from Naukšēni Winery.

In the vicinity of Cesvaine Castle, in the manor complex building, natural live beer is brewed according to ancient methods. The 150-year-old tradition of beer brewing, inspired by the first city brewery in 1865, has been revived here. Offers excursions in the brewery and tasting.

The garden is opposite the Brenguļi brewery, where unfiltered and unpasteurised beers are made from locally grown grains and on the basis of the knowledge of ancestors. The beer garden offers light and dark Brenguļi beer, as well as Latvian dishes.

Latvian cuisine: Grey peas with bacon, sausages with cabbage, Rūjiena ice cream.

A small beer brewery and shop in Lielvārde that organises tastings and offers to taste Latvian delicacies on-site and to purchase them for take away.

Fruit and berry wine has been made at the Tori Jõesuu Cider and Wine Farm since its beginnings. The people currently living there are inspired by the experiences of their ancestors and value the fruits and berries that grow from the local Soomaa soil, which has a particular composition. The old feral apple tree, which grows in the yard, is particularly special because its golden apples have an unusual taste which makes the Tori Jõesuu Cider Farm cider unique. The visit also includes a tour of a genuine Nordic vineyard. The Cider tour around Tori Jõesuu Cider and Wine Farm on the edge of Soomaa has been awarded the EHE (Genuine and Interesting Estonia) quality label. The farm introduces guests to the secrets of good cider and wine making, the special features of the cultivation of northern grapes, as well as offers catering and organises tastings.

At Estonia's oldest and largest beverage producer, brewery A. Le Coq, visitors of the brewery museum are invited to get acquainted with the history of beer brewing and beer culture, modern beer production as well as taste the beer. More than 2000 exhibits, opportunity to taste beer and other delicacies in the tavern of museum. You can buy beer and snacks to go with it, as well as souvenirs in the small store of the museum.

Saaremaa has had strong beer brewing traditions since olden times. In Kuressaare, the building with Art deco elements where electricity was once made, is now a home for the beer brewery Pöide that demonstrates the art of beer brewing – you will learn several secrets and taste various beers in the special tasting room.
