The sauna and rest place Raudini is a place where you can rest in a comfortable quiet atmosphere, between the sea and the forest. You will be able to experience relaxation offered by a wooden-heated sauna, wisping with besoms, enjoying the sauna ritual to its fullest and drinking herbal tea. After the wisping you can cool off in the pond with water lilies and, to finish off your sauna ritual we offer chocolate or honey massages. Here it is possible to rest with your family or a small circle of friends, preparing a tasty meal on the outdoor terrace on the real wooden stove or fireplace. In the evening you will be able to watch the sunset rays in the tree spires. It is possible to use tent places outside for spending the night and wait for the sunrise near the sea. Liela meža masīva vidū gleznainās Būkas (Būka) upes krastos starp kokiem ieslēpies teiksmainais Vaišnoriškes ciems. Šis ir viens no skaistākajiem nacionālā parka etnogrāfiskajiem ciemiem. Vaišnoriške kā apdzīvota vieta sākusi veidoties 1756. g., kad šeit sena vēsturiska ceļa malā darbojies krogs. Pirmā viensēta ciematā ir zināma no 1830. g. Šodien redzamā apbūve ir tapusi g.k. 20. gs. sākumā. Ciems ir palicis cilvēku atmiņās ar liepu medu, jo meža velšu vākšana un biškopība bija viena no galvenajām šejieniešu nodarbēm. Tagad ciemā ir piecas sētas. No Vaišnoriškes var uzsākt laivu braucienu pa seklo un dzidro Būku. |

The monument is on the banks of the Daugava River opposite Kaļķu Street in Pļaviņas. The symbolic raft is made of logs and stones, and around it are informational stands with photographs that tell the story of the heavy work that rafters on the Daugava once did in terms of overcoming the rapids of the river. |

The former Ķemeri swimming facility used
to have a building of wooden bathtubs in the
19th century. The mud treatment facility which
is designed in the style of Classicism was
erected in 1924. The Ķemeri clinic was opened
here after World War II. A monument to Ivan
Pavlov, a distinguished Russian doctor and
physiologist is on the western end of the ruins,
and no one has taken much care of it, either.

Until the 1680s, where the Vecdaugava neighbourhood is located, there was a castle which, because of natural changes in the riverbed of the Daugava, was then dismantled and “moved” to the Left Bank of the Daugava. Nothing remains of the castle, but people can still see the remnants of old barriers and moats. Swedish soldiers used the facility at the beginning of the Great Northern War. The place is certainly interesting in the context of Rīga’s history and military heritage, and if you’re in the northern reaches of the city, we recommend that you go and have a look.

Silenes dabas parkā ietilpst arī Glušonkas purva un Ilgas dabas liegumi.

Zemnieku saimniecība "Dzirnas" nodarbojas ar bioloģisko putnkopību, audzē zemenes un dārzeņus. Saimniecība apsaimnieko 11 ha zemes. Tajā iegūtās olas ar zīmolu "Vistu olas", sīpoli un ķiploki tiek pārdoti veikalos "Klēts" Rimi hypermārketos Rīgā. Savukārt zemenes pārdod dzimtajā Alsungā, kā arī pēc pieprasījuma piegādā Rīgā. Iespējams arī apmeklēt un apskatīt saimniecību, taču nepieciešmaa iepriekšēja pieteikšanās. |

The highest and most beautiful wall of cliffs on Saaremaa Island (up to 21 m high), stretching along some 3 km. During strong winds from the W or NW, a part of the cliff is washed by the waves of the sea. The open face of the cliff has limestone, marls and dolomite, and there is a wealth of fossils at the base of the cliff – corals, stromatoporids, etc.

Latvia’s newest national park (2007) is in the “land of the blue lakes” – the region of Latgale. One of the goals of establishing a national park was to preserve the natural treasures of the region. Lake Rāzna, which is the second largest in Latvia, is there, as is Lake Ežezers, which has more island than any other lake in Latvia. There are other bodies of water, as well as typical landscapes of hillocks and a unique cultural environment. One of the most popular destinations in the park is Mākoņkalns Hill, which offers a lovely view of Lake Rāzna. Administrators of the newly established park are working on the tourist infrastructure – trails, routes, etc. Perhaps visitors would be advised to postpone their trip to the Rāzna National Park for awhile. |

The LIELKALNI farm planted two hectares of uncommon berries four years ago – golden currants, viburnum, large-fruit hazel trees, sea buckthorn, the black elder, five-flavour berries, the Chinese gooseberry, edible honey-suckle, etc. The farm has been biologically certified since 2008. In 2009 it received certification from the Latvian Food and Veterinary Service for the production of health-boosting syrups, jellies, jams and teas. Tourists can taste the teas, seasonal berries, syrups, jellies and other treats, all of which are also available for sale.
