This summer terrace café is on the beach of the Preiļi park, and it offers 100% natural ice cream with berries, as well as fresh pancakes.  The café is only open from Mother’s Day (May 8) until Father’s Day (September 11).  Tourist groups are offered tours and tastings of cheese-based ice cream.

Located on the side of the Daugavpils-Krāslava (A6) road in Naujene, the museum features a replica of the room of a wealthy Latvian farmer with household objects from the 19th and 20th century.  Younger visitors will be interested in Latvia's only diorama, "Underwater World," which will introduce them to the inhabitants of the Daugava River.  An outdoor exhibition, "Daugava of the Heart," has information about the protected Curves of Daugava Nature Park and the protected Upper Daugava landscape region, as well as local cultural and historical values.  The museum offers creative workshops and educational programmes.  There is an apple orchard to the east of the museum.  On the opposite side of the road, is the Juzefova (Juzepova) Park, which once was a baronial estate owned by Duke Bogdan Shahno.  It no longer exists.  The park has pathways, relaxation areas and information stands about the history of the park and the most interesting trees that are found therein.  You will need at least one hour to walk through the park.

This farm keeps Thuringian breed goats and makes goat's milk cheese, as well as a various snacks. In addition, herbs and medicinal plants used for teas and natural cosmetics are also grown here.

In Kännu Alpaca Farm you can see Peruvian alpacas, mammals with beautiful, soft coat which they are known for. While in this farm you can feed alpacas with food provided by the owners and pet them. You can also see goats, sheeps, rabbits and chickens. In the farm shop you can buy souvenirs and also products that are made of alpaca wool. Kännu Alpaca Farm is also suitable for family visits.

From the tower of St Simon’s Lutheran Church, you can see the central part of Valmiera and the banks of the Gauja River. During clear weather, you can see Zilaiskalns Hill. The church contains some cultural and historical treasures, as well as one of Latvia’s most resonant pipe organs.

The stadium was opened in 1938 and has been rebuilt several times since then.  Outside the stadium is a memorial stone to honour of Jānis Dāliņš (1904-1978), who set several world records in race walking.  He won a silver medal at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1932.  The first Three Star Olympiad was held in the stadium in 1993.  The stadium is of national importance as an athletics stadium that hosts international competitions and various athletic activities.  It is known as the most youth-friendly facility of its type.

Elkas kalna saimniecība is located on the top of the scenic Elkas Hill, the place where the Gauja begins. Herbal teas, birch sap, jams and other healthy delicacies from local meadows and home-grown plants. There are also nature workshops, open-air picnic areas.

The firing range at Skujnieki was once used for summer sports, as well as training in the use of firearms. The Defence Ministry still uses the facility from time to time. The central building of the facility was built in 1982, and its façade is decorated with text in the Russian language: “Слава КПСС” (“All Honour to the Soviet Communist Party).

Found on the right bank of the Daugava where the little Karikste river flows into the Daugava, all that remains of the castle today is a set of ruined walls and foundations.  The castle was built by the Livonian Order in 1224, and it was inhabited until the mid-17th century, when it was sacked during the Polish-Swedish war.  The ruins offer a good view of the local gravel road that goes along the right bank of the river valley.
