In the house that was renovated due to the initiative of the Craftsmen society of Beverina, it is possible to buy the products of both the district craftsmen and those from further territories, to visit creative workshops and events in order to learn the techniques of differnt handicrafts. The house is both a teaching centre and a marketplace, as well as the centre to popularise the cultural, folk and Latvian lifestyle of the Beverina district. |

This is one of the loveliest waterfalls in Estonia – up to 6 m in height and 50 m in width. Recommended: The rapid Keila River has carved a cliffy canyon behind the waterfall, with a flow of water that falls down a major distance. It’s worth hiking through the Keila park to the shore of the Bay of Finland (~1 km), then returning along the other bank of the river.

and reflections about Latgalian catholic-Latvian mentality. Janis Streičs (famous Latvian film director) shot a film
based on the novel of Janis Klīdzējs called „The Child of a Man”.

Tahkuna lighthouse is on Tahkuna peninsula in the north of the island. It was built from French cast iron parts in 1875 and is the highest in Estonia at 43 m above sea level. |

The graveyard that is alongside the Lestene Lutheran Church is the final resting place for more than 900 soldiers who fell during World War II, particularly during battles at the so-called Fortress of Kurzeme, as well as in Zemgale and Vidzeme. The sculptress Arta Dumpe designed the commemorative monument “Mother Motherland – Latvia.” The cemetery of the brethren is the second largest resting place for soldiers from World War II after the Cemetery of the Brethren in Rīga. The names of some 11,000 soldiers are engraved on the gravestones. |

The studio specializes in creating folk costumes, weaving and all sorts of handicrafts, creating jewellery, patchwork, sewing and silk painting. It is possible to see the crafts’ exhibition and buy souvenirs. |

Every traveller in Latvia relates the name of Edole to Edole Castle. The beginning of it dates back to the middle of the 13th century, but the outbuildings of it were constructed in the 16th and 19th centuries, when patio was formed. During reconstruction of the castle implemented in the 30ies of the 19th century the facades of the castle acquired their current – Neo-Gothic appearance. From the16th century until 1920ies Edole Castle was located within the property of a baron family. In 1905 during rebellions it was burnt down, but in 1907 it was reconstructed. Many legends and ghost stories are told about Edole Castle. |

The rock is in the square outside the Skrunda Cultural Centre. It was installed in 2005 in honour of the victory of Col Oskars Kalpaks and his battalion over the Bolsheviks. During the Latvian liberation battles, on January 22, 1919, the Bolsheviks occupied Skrunda. Kalpaks’ battalion headed toward the town on January 29 from the Rudbārži Estate. After a three-hour battle, the victory was won, with the battalion taking over a strategic line near the banks of the Venta River. This was the first victory for Kalpaks’ men after many retreats, and that inspired the rest of the liberation battles. |

One of the most important military and political elements of the Livonian Order, the Bauska Castle was built between 1443 and 1456 at the place where the Mūsa and Mēmele rivers flow together. The castle had five towers and walls that were up to three metres thick. Between 1580 and 1596, the forecastle was replaced with a residence for the duke of Courland, and its walls were finished with the sgrafito technique. The castle suffered damage during wars in the 16th and 17th century, but it was always restored until 1706, when the Russian military blew it up during the Great Northern War. Today the castle houses a museum, with a viewing platform in its south-eastern tower. |

Ļoļi Devil’s Footprint is situated in Mākoņkalns rural territory in a small forest lawn several meters from the
ditch, which is a borderline of the Rēzekne and Krāslava districts. It is about 1,9 m high truncated cone, the base
perimeter 1,8 m. According to the legend, the boulder had a curvy of the horseshoe prints. Now it’s shapeless. For the
first time the stone as a geological monument was established in the 1930s. It was in Andrupene rural territory.
