On March 27–28, the NAT-TOUR-EXPO project partners gathered at Hotel Baltvilla and in Carnikava, for a productive two-day meeting focused on advancing cross-border cooperation in nature tourism and work on the project goal - to increase the nature tourism product export to the UK market. The event brought together partners, external experts from the United Kingdom - Paul Wagner and Andy Fairburn and SMEs from Latvia and Estonia: Reimann Retked, Soomaa Puhkeküla, City Bike, Small Lapland, Purvu bridēji, Baltic Nature Travel, SPALVA, and IndieTours, Boards You and Movement Spontaneous.

On February 19, a webinar took place on the Central Baltic Sea Region Programme and its 5th project call, where representatives of the Baltic Nature Tourism (NAT-TOUR-EXPO) project shared their experiences. During the presentation, the project's expected results were discussed, along with insights into the chosen target market, planned and past activities, and key lessons learned.

On April 10, 2025, the Embassy of Latvia in the UK will host "A Taste of Latvian Nature and Adventure," an event highlighting Latvia’s nature tourism opportunities. Organized as part of the Baltic Nature Tourism project, the event will introduce Latvian tourism businesses and their outdoor experiences. 

On February 11, Ķemeri National Park will host an international Sustainable Tourism event, bringing together approximately 100 participants from Latvia, Estonia, and Sweden. The event will convene tourism professionals, municipal representatives, and state institutions working on tourism development in Protected Areas.

From January 28th to 31st, a FAM tour (familiarization trip) was held, attended by seven media representatives and tour operators from the United Kingdom. The purpose of the visit was to showcase nature tourism opportunities in Latvia and Estonia, despite challenging weather conditions. During the visit, participants learned not only about nature and active tourism possibilities but also about Latvian and Estonian culture, history, and had the chance to explore Riga. For most of the participants, it was their first time in Latvia, and their expectations varied prior to the trip. Some imagined snowy white landscapes, while others expected an interesting history, Eastern European cuisine, and traditions.

The online learning course titled Baltic Nature Tourism and Sustainability at the Equator Global https://www.equator.global/  provided an in-depth overview of nature tourism in the Baltic region, focusing on sustainable practices and the cultural and natural diversity of Latvia and its neighboring countries. It covered topics such as wildlife observation, eco-friendly accommodations, foraging traditions, and adventure activities, emphasizing low-impact tourism and conservation.

Piedalījāmies LIAA organizētajā Ziemassvētku noskaņu pasākumā Londonā, Latvijas Republikas vēstniecībā Lielbritānijas un Ziemeļīrijas Apvienotajā Karalistē. Pasākumā pulcējās vairāk nekā 40 tūrisma operatoru un mediju pārstāvju, kuriem prezentējām Latvijas tūrisma piedāvājumu, īpaši uzsverot Baltic Nature Tourism dabas tūrisma iespējas ziemas sezonā. 

Uz Londonu aizvedām Latvijas Ziemassvētku sajūtu kopā ar Rubeņu ģimenes ceptajām piparkūkām un sidra darītavas Abuls upeņu-aroniju karstvīnu.

The FAM tour is being organized as part of the Baltic Nature Tourism project to promote Latvia and Estonia as nature tourism destinations. The tour will take place from January 28 to 31, allowing participants to explore the Northern Vidzeme region and Estonia's Soomaa National Park.

From November 5th to 7th, representatives from the Baltic Nature Tourism project under the tourism association “Lauku Ceļotājs” were active participants at the "World Travel Market London" tourism exhibition, which attracted visitors and exhibitors from all over the world, with attendance exceeding 40,000.

On October 31 the Baltic Nature Tourism project hosted an online seminar, focused on the latest developments in nature tourism across the Baltics.

On September 4th, we hosted the NAT-TOUR-EXPO Partner’s Meeting in Riga, Latvia. The event brought together all project partners and included virtual participation from Nordic nature tourism experts in the UK. During the meeting, partners shared their recent achievements and outlined their plans for the future.

Currently, the platform features nearly 200 diverse nature tourism products offered by SMEs from Latvia and Estonia. These businesses are actively engaging in specialized training sessions on topics such as photography, sauna rituals, and more to enhance their sales and market presence. In the meeting, partners discussed the latest news in tourism and travel trends and patterns based on the available data.

Jūnija sākumā četru dienu iepazīšanās braucienā Latvijā ieradās septiņi tūroperatori no Apvienotās Karalistes ar mērķi iepazīt Latvijas dabas tūrisma piedāvājumu un izvērtēt, vai tas piemērots viņu klientiem. Baltija atbilst šīs vasaras brīvdienu modes tendencei “coolcation”, kas nozīmē izvēlēties brīvdienu ceļojumu uz vietām ar vēsāku klimatu.

18. aprīlī Londonā - Latvijas vēstniecībā Apvienotajā Karalistē, sadarbībā ar LIAA Tūrisma departamentu, organizējām semināru-prezentāciju, lai iepazīstinātu ar mūsu dabas tūrisma piedāvājumu - Baltic Nature Tourism. Semināru apmeklēja vairāk kā 40 tūroperatoru un mediju pārstāvji, kas specializējušies dabas tūrismā, ar īpašu interesi par Baltijas valstīm. Šajā reizē spilgtākās interešu tēmas bija Latvijas dabas ainava, dabas aizsniedzamība un iespējas nokļūt no pilsētas laukos, dabas tūrisma aktivitāšu daudzveidība, īpaši – dabas takas un pārgājieni purva kurpēs, putnu vērošana, ūdens aktivitātes, velobraucieni, savvaļas daba, un “coolcations” – brīvdienu ceļojums kā glābiņš no vasaras karstuma.

On March 11 and 12, the Baltic Nature Tourism project team from Latvia and Estonia met for a spring meeting in Tallinn.
Baltic Nature Tourism's platform balticnaturetourism.com, created last year, currently unites more than 100 entrepreneurs in Latvia and Estonia. Its purpose is to provide a starting point for nature tourism entrepreneurs in Latvia and Estonia to reach the UK market. Baltic Nature Tourism is not a reservation system, but an online platform where it is easy for travelers and tour operators to find the offer they are interested in and communicate directly with entrepreneurs by making a reservation without an intermediary.

During the meeting, we looked back at the work done so far and together we planned the upcoming activities.

The networking cruise for all the captains of tourism industry. Networking on a ship - is it possible? Yes, it is! On the way from Helsinki to Stockholm we were participating in discussion about tourism in the Baltics with the representatives of key players of the industry from Germany, Mediterranean, North America, Latin America, South East Asia, Japan, India and Caucasus.

On the 13th and 14th of November the future of Nordic nature tourism is discussed.

5.oktobrī Rīgā norisinājas projekta “Baltic Nature tourism” trešā partneru sanāksme, kurā tika lemts un diskutēts par nākamajiem mērķiem un plāniem, kā arī veicamajiem uzlabojumiem.

Baltijas jūras reģiona tūrisma produktu radītāji un to patērētāji 4. oktobrī tikās Baltijas tūrisma biznesa forumā un seminārā, ko Rīgā organizēja Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra (LIAA). 

The Nature Tourism is one of tourism's fastest growing sectors. On October 19, Nature tourism experts from across the Baltic and Nordic region discused the emergence and development of nature-based holidays and how experiential travel is now such an important and often-requested option for our customers today. The webinar was attended by participants who are able to see and hear of the latest products to emerge in the sector and expected developments in the future, all part of the journey towards sustainable travel.

Šā gada sākumā tika uzsākts Centrālās Baltijas Interreg projekts “Exporting Baltic nature tourism to UK” ar mērķi palielināt Latvijas un Igaunijas dabas tūrisma produktu eksportu uz Lielbritāniju. Jaunā interneta platforma balticnaturetourism.com ir šobrīd Latvijā vienīgā interneta vietne, kurā dabas tūrisma produkti Latvijā un Igaunijā ir apkopoti vienuviet, līdz ar to tā noderīga arī vietējiem ceļotājiem.
Jaunā interneta platforma apvieno vairāk kā 70 dabas tūrisma pakalpojumus Latvijā un Igaunijā. Un datu bāze tiek regulāri papildināta.

21. septembrī, kopā dabas tūrisma uzņēmējiem un LIAA Tūrisma departamentu, iepazīstinājām Apvienotās Karalistes tūrisma operatorus ar plašo Latvijas dabas tūrisma piedāvājumu - Baltic Nature Tourism. Dalībnieku vidū bija arī Latvijas naktsmītņu pārstāvji, kas piedāvā dabas tūrismu: Kārļa muiža un Pizā. Starp visiem sanākušajiem tika izlozēta dāvanu karte - dabas tūrisma atpūtas piedāvājums Latvijā, 2 personām, gaidīsim ciemos!

The Latvian country tourism association Lauku Celotajs as project beneficiary of the Interreg Central Baltic project "Exporting Baltic Nature Tourism to UK - NAT-TOUR-EXPO" - participates as host organisation in the Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) initiative.

Turpinot darbu pie dabas tūrisma produkta izstrādes, 10. un 11. maijā uz saulainās Prangli salas Igaunijā tikāmies ne vien projekta partneri, bet arī Latvijas un Igaunijas uzņēmēji, kas sniedz dabas tūrisma produktus, projekta vadības grupa un Apvienotās Karalistes dabas tūrisma eksperti. Esam uz pareizā ceļa un mums ir plāns kā aizsniegt UK tirgu. Projekta partneru tikšanos papildināja iespēja iepazīties ar Prangli salas dabas tūrisma piedāvājumu - braucieni ar jūras kajakiem, velo maršruti iepazīšana, pārgājienu takas, u.c.

23. martā, Tukuma novada "Valguma Pasaulē" aicinām uz "Lauku ceļotāja" pavasara semināru, kas šogad būs veltīts dabas tūrismam.

This year, we have launched a new Baltic nature tourism project with the aim of developing a joint Latvian and Estonian nature tourism product adapted to the interest of UK tourists, positioning it in the market using a special marketing campaign, and increasing sales volumes.

Kick-off project partner meeting, 25th of January, 2023, Riga.
The objectives of the project are to develop a joint Latvian-Estonian nature tourism product tailored for the UK market, to launch it through a dedicated marketing campaign, and to achieve sales. The nature tourism product will be based on individual SME nature tourism products, professionally packaged and accessible from an innovative specialized nature tourism web platform linking directly product providers with the market - free independent travellers, specialized interest groups, and tour operator companies specialized in Baltic countries. The nature tourism product will include wildlife and birding holidays, nature photography, soft adventure: hiking, walking, cycling, boating, and also touring programs to include elements and values of nature, e.g., botanical, wildlife spotting, wellness/Spa, food and foraging. This concept meets the current demand in the UK market where nature tourism, escape to nature, rural holidays, outdoors wildlife are on-trend words.
