No Vecās pasta ēkas ir redzama Sv. Jāņa kolonna. Domājams, ka tā celta 17. gs. un sākotnēji kalpoja kā blakus esošā tirgus laukuma „ziņojumu vieta”. Vēlāk kolonnu pārdēvēja Sv. Jāņa - zvejnieku aizbildņa vārdā, jo daudziem Traķu apkārtnes iedzīvotājiem zveja bija ikdienas dzīves sastāvdaļa. |

Руины замка Хельме возвышаются на крутом склоне у шоссе Пярну- Валга. На протяжении веков замком владели немцы, русские, литовцы и шведы, которые и уничтожили замок в 1658-ом году. Под горой в овраге журчит родник Арстиалликас, вода которого считается лекарством от семи болезней. К северу от развалин крепости находятся пещеры Хельме, которые в старину назывались Адом, основной достопримечательностью которых являются два зала. Еще в поселке расположен Краеведческий музей Хельме. |

This is on the north-western shore of Lake Lielezers of Limbaži, at the start of the Lielezers nature trail. The tower opens up a view of the lake and its lovely shores. It is worth walking the trail, which is several kilometres long, because it is an interesting one. This is part of the ZBR. |

Ранее дом назывался „Форстей” (в переводе означает «дом лесничего»). Его построили, используя старые бревна замка Бирини. Первым владельцем здания был барон поместья Бириню Александр Алексей фон Пистолкорсс. В нем жил главный лесничий имения Паулс Молтрехтс; это было место работы и проживания главного лесничего и охотничий домик поместья. Здание неоднократно перестраивалось. Вид, наиболее близкий теперешнему, в том числе символические рога оленя, оно приобретает в 1891 году. Во времена независимой Латвии дом получил латышское название – «Межа мая» («Лесной дом»). Несколько раз менялись также его владельцы. В 30-е годы дом становится местом отдыха работников культуры и искусства. Здесь в 1937 году летние каникулы провел композитор Альфред Калниньш, работая над интерпретацией партитуры ко второй постановке первой латышской оперы “Банюта”. В послевоенный период с 1945 по 1956 год в здании находился Сельский Совет Саулкрасты, а во время Саулкрастского района - Отдел народного образования. Затем в это здание из Юрмалы был перенесен детский санаторий „Костер”, который позднее был переименован в честь Саулкрасты. В настоящее время здание является частной собственностью. |

The trip starts in Kuldīga – a jewel among the old towns in Kurzeme. The town centre is home to historic buildings dating back to the 17th – 19th century. Cobbled streets of Kuldīga, old buildings, the river Alekšupīte, running through the town, St. Catherine’s Church and organ music concerts in it, gourmet restaurants and a country delicatessen shop in the town centre is a great travel experience to enjoy in a leisurely ambience of a small town. The red-brick bridge over the river Venta is a landmark of the town. The widest waterfall of Europe, Ventas rumba (width ~100 m) lies on the Venta. Venta river promenade is a popular place for walking along the riverbank. A private transfer will take you from Kuldīga to the village of Snēpele, where you will start your hike. The trail will take you to the Pelči Manor, the manor park and the deer park next to the guest house “Mazsālijas”. Next, the Forest Trail will lead you through the Abava River Valley Nature Park up to the town of Sabile. The latter is home to a winery and cider house “Sabiles Sidra nams”, which offers tastings and sells the local wine and cider. The section along the Abava River Valley Nature Park is the most diverse in terms of landscape and terrain of a river valley in Kurzeme. The river valley with its numerous habitats and vast biodiversity reaches a depth of 30–40 m and is more than 300 m wide. One will find springs, waterfalls, rock outcrops, and boulders here. After the Forest Trail has meandered through meadows, oak forests and hillocks it finally reaches the town of Kandava. |

Свято-Духов мужской монастырь православной церкви, а также находящаяся на территории монастыря православная церковь Святого Николая Чудотворца находятся на ул. Бривибас, 200, в Екабпилсе. Построенный в византийском стиле Свято-Духов православный храм возводился с 1853 по 1886 год на месте предыдущего, построенного во второй половине 17 столетия и сгоревшего в 1773 году деревянного храма (лесоматериалы для строительства предоставил Курземский герцог Екаб). Рядом с обителью находится Свято-Духов мужской монастырь. В 1903 году на второй день Пасхи в церкви возник пожар, после которого невредимой осталась лишь икона Пресвятой Богородицы. Церковь пострадала во время Первой мировой войны, но была восстановлена в 1933 году.Рядом со Свято-Духовой православной церковью находится старейший Екабпилсский храм – построенная в 1774 году и названная именем Святого Николая Чудотворца каменная церковь.Эта церковь отличается своими небольшими размерами – 17 x 19,5 м. В настоящее время здесь действует Свято-Духов мужской монастырь православной церкви, который интересующиеся могут осмотреть и изнутри. В комплекс входит впечатляющий, нехарактерный для городской среды Латвии 17 века каменный забор.

The Krimulda Lutheran church is seen as one of the oldest in Latvia. It was built in the early 13th century, soon after the territory of Kubasele was conquered. Over the subsequent centuries, it has been rebuilt many times. Alongside the church is a meditation maze called "Lily Blossom." When the Liv warrior Kaupo fell in battle near Vīlande in 1217, his remains were supposedly interred at the church. Local residents, true, describe a small hillock that is near the church as the grave of Kaupo. The site is located alongside the little Runtiņupīte (Runtiņš) river, on the right bank of which is a manmade cave that is approximately seven metres deep. It is the Kubesele Cave or the Runtiņala Cave. The Kubesele castle hill is on the left bank of the Runtiņupīte. The Kubesele Nature Trail starts at the church. If you hike down the trail, you'll see all of the aforementioned objects and others. The trail leads to the Gauja River where, on the right bank, is the Great (Runtiņš) Rock. Nearby you'll find anchor blocks installed by rafters on the river. |

This is the most impressive and colourful set of cliffs along the Vidzeme coastline. Waves have created the steep shore that is as much as 6 m high, with several hundred meters of red sandstone cliffs with narrow caves, niches, grottos and other formations. The nearby Veczemu farm is where the Rīga Film Studio shot the films “Long Way into the Dunes” and “The Nest of the Old Fisherman.”

The restricted area protects the seashore meadows of the Lielupe River estuary, which are a very uncommon habitat in Latvia. The restricted area is on the left bank of the river, where one of the largest areas of wild swamp angelica is found. This is an important nesting area for birds. The territory is not improved for tourism, and it should be viewed from the Baltā (White) dune that is on the opposite bank of the Lielupe River. From there, the visitor will see a lovely landscape featuring the river estuary and the meadows which are around it.
