Der Bauernhof Pärnamäe auf der Insel Kihnu hat bereits viermal die Auszeichnung des schönsten Hauses gewonnen. Die Gastgeberin bereitet hausgemachtes Essen, traditionelles Kihnu-Brot und geräucherte Fische zu, die man auf dem Kihnu-Hafenmarkt kaufen kann. Unterkunft wird in drei bequemen Sommerhäusern angeboten. Im Winter werden hier die einzigartigen Kihnu-Teppiche gewebt.

Die Flüsse Salaca und Svētupe sind zu den einzigen Orten auf der Welt ernannt, wo man beim industriellen Fischfang der Neunaugen immer noch eine mehr als 150 Jahre alte Methode benutzt: den Fischzaun (einen über den Fluss gebauten Steg mit Fischreusen, insgesamt drei Fischzäune). Das Gotteshaus wurde von 1742 – 1758 für die deutsche Gemeinde der Stadt nach einem Projekt von J.K. Dorn erbaut, der 55m hohe Turm wurde 1866 fertiggestellt. Die Fassade und das Interieur der Kirche sind im Spätbarock mit klassizistischen Zügen gehalten , im Interieur gibt es auch prunkvolle Elemente im Rokoko Stil. Das Gotteshaus ist bekannt für seine von 1773 – 1780 vom Halle’schen Orgelbauer Heinrich Andreas Contius erbaute Orgel . Nach dem Umbau von 1885 hat das Instrument heute über 7000 Pfeifen, 131 Register und 4 Manuale. Es gilt als die größte mechanische Orgel der Welt, es lohnt sich, sie in einem Konzert anzuhören! Besucher können Kirche und Orgel besichtigen und Kirchturm besteigen

Muiža rakstos pirmoreiz minēta 17. gs. sākumā, taču klasicisma stilā celtās pils veidols tapis 1835. gadā. Penijē muižas būtisks likteņa pavērsiens (atšķirībā no daudzām citām muižām) bija apstāklis, ka tajā izveidoja Matsalu rezervāta (pirms nacionālā parka izveides) apmeklētāju centru. 2000. gadā muižas pili restaurēja un tajā ierīkoja nelielu ekspozīciju. Apmeklētāju centrs te pastāv joprojām, tādēļ šeit var iegūt nepieciešamo informāciju. No ārpuses var apskatīt arī citas muižas saimniecības ēkas.

This is a “peripheral” island in the Bay of Finland, 9 km from the Dirhami port. The special fact about this island is that it offers fields of juniper, a rocky and grassy seashore that is around 2 km long, and limestone cliffs that are a few metres high along the northern and the eastern shores of the island. In den 40er Jahren des 17.Jh. erbaute die schwedische Armee hier eine moderne Festung mit fünf Bastionen und zwei Toren. Hier befanden sich 120 Kanonen und Mörser, Soldaten-Kasernen, Offizierswohnungen, eine Garnisonskirche, Lebensmittel – und Munitionslager. Als Folge des Großen Nordischen Krieges fiel die Festung 1710 in die Hände der russischen Armee. Auch nach der Besetzung Lettlands 1940 stationierte die Sowjetunion hier Einheiten ihrer Marine. Von außen sind Mauern, Bastionen, der Festungsgraben und ein kleiner Teil der alten Kirche zu sehen. Neben der Festung befindet sich ein ehemaliges sowjetisches Militärgelände mit verlassenen Gebäuden und einem Denkmal für Soldaten, die auf U-Booten ihren Dienst geleistet haben. Die  Festung ist samstags und sonntags für Besucher geöffnet.

Līdz 19. gs. 40. gadiem avota ūdens īpašības bija izslavētas tāpat kā Aglonas Dievmātes svētbildes brīnumdarītājas spējas. Tās savulaikapstiprinājusi Viļņas ārstu komisija un Pēterpils akadēmija, taču ap 1840. g. avots savas īpašības esot zaudējis. Tomēr arī mūsdienās svētceļnieki joprojām tic avota spēkam.

Hier kann man verschiedene Handwerker (Bernsteinbearbeiter, Schmiede von Schmuckstücken, Weberinnen, Näherinnen u.a.) bei ihrer Arbeit beobachten, sowie die Arbeiten der Meister kaufen. In diesem Haus ist die längste Bernsteinkette (123 m, 19 kg!) ausgestellt, die aus Bernsteinstücken geschaffen ist, die die Einwohner der Stadt geschenkt haben. The tour combines the most beautiful southern parts of the Forest Trail in Lithuania and Latvia. The route starts in Druskininkai, Lithuania, and for the next day you will walk through forests of the Dzūkija National Park. After getting to Vilnius and Kurtuvėnai Regional Park, two sections of the Forest Trail will take you from Dengtiltis to Šaukėnai. Since it is among the most forested areas of Central Lithuania, the Kurtuvėnai Regional Park with its glaciated valleys is a wonderland of forests, waters and wetlands. The Forest Trail will run along small forest paths, tourist trails, beautiful tree alleys and wetlands. Next you will take public transportation to reach the Žemaitija National Park, where you will taketwo sections of the Forest Trail from the pilgrimage town of Žemaičių Kalvarija along the lakes of Plateliai, Ilgis and Beržoras to the town of Plateliai. It is one of the most beautiful towns of Samogitia taking pride in its manor park and the viewing platform on Lake Plateliai. Žemaitija National Park takes pride in its old pine and fir forests, as well as mixed forests.
Next, you will drive through Klaipėda and Liepāja to reach Kuldīga in Latvia. The trip starts in Kuldīga – a jewel among the old towns in Kurzeme. The town centre is home to historic buildings dating back to the 17th – 19th century, Venta waterfall, the old bridge over the river Venta, gourmet restaurants and a local farmer’s store in the centre of the town. 

From there on the Forest Trail takes you along the riverside promenade in Kuldīga, continues through the nature park “Abavas senleja” from Renda to the wine and cider town Sabile and Kandava. The section along the Abava River Valley Nature Park is the most diverse river valley in Kurzeme in terms of landscapes and terrain. The final section of the tour takes you to the Ķemeri National Park, which is an important place for the protection of wetlands. As to the town – Ķemeri – it is the former balneological and sulphur springs resort.

The tour ends on the seaside – the village of Bigauņciems, from where you can easily get to Rīga. Optionally, one can take a detour along the Lake Sloka trail with its bird-watching tower or pay a visit to the “Forest House” – the visitor’s centre of the Ķemeri National Park.
