This is one of the loveliest waterfalls in Estonia – up to 6 m in height and 50 m in width. Recommended: The rapid Keila River has carved a cliffy canyon behind the waterfall, with a flow of water that falls down a major distance. It’s worth hiking through the Keila park to the shore of the Bay of Finland (~1 km), then returning along the other bank of the river.

A third-generation family company, producing “Gotiņa” sweets since 1959. Located in the centre of Skrīveri, a 2-minute walk away from the train station. Company has a Sweets Workshop where visitors can take a tour, wrap their own candies, learn about their history, taste the products, and purchase natural and fresh sweets. For “Gotiņa” sweets with rye bread and cranberries, they use heated rye breadcrumbs from the Lāči bakery. The Krimulda Lutheran church is seen as one of the oldest in Latvia. It was built in the early 13th century, soon after the territory of Kubasele was conquered. Over the subsequent centuries, it has been rebuilt many times. Alongside the church is a meditation maze called "Lily Blossom." When the Liv warrior Kaupo fell in battle near Vīlande in 1217, his remains were supposedly interred at the church. Local residents, true, describe a small hillock that is near the church as the grave of Kaupo. The site is located alongside the little Runtiņupīte (Runtiņš) river, on the right bank of which is a manmade cave that is approximately seven metres deep. It is the Kubesele Cave or the Runtiņala Cave. The Kubesele castle hill is on the left bank of the Runtiņupīte. The Kubesele Nature Trail starts at the church. If you hike down the trail, you'll see all of the aforementioned objects and others. The trail leads to the Gauja River where, on the right bank, is the Great (Runtiņš) Rock. Nearby you'll find anchor blocks installed by rafters on the river. |

Today there’s a single-family farm and not much else, but at one time Olmaņi was the site of two important coastal batteries collectively known as “Krastnoflotskaya.” Until 1955, the one to the South of Olmaņi, there were four 152-mm Kane type cannons, which were manufactured during World War I and were widely used to protect the coastal territory of the Baltic Soviet republics of Latvia and Estonia during the rule of the Soviet regime. Small concentric ramparts of earth are all that’s left there today. After 1955, to the North of Olmaņi, another battery was installed with four MY-2 152-mm cannons. They had a range of 25 km. The battery remained in battle readiness until 1975, when it was turned into a reserve facility. It’s not easy to find, but it’s worth the search. The platforms for the cannons and the subterranean bunkers are still there. This was indeed one of the most impressive coastal batteries along the shores of the Baltic Sea.

The blacksmith is eager to show his work and various techniques and tools. He can also show how to make charcoal, and talks about the dwelling house which includes a threshing barn with a huge kiln, and explains how grain was dried, threshed and winnowed in the past. |

The theme park of wise men of Gotham (Kilpla) is located in Müüsleri village; the park’s attractions arise from legends told in Germany some 400 years ago. Gothamites are funny characters famous for their irrational, impractical and foolish actions. Fun-packed tours and activities are on offer along with craft workshops, themed souvenirs, catering (groups should book in advance), and grounds for pitching tents. |

The castle was commissioned by Baron Alexander von Fittinghof and built between 1859 and 1863 in the late Tudor Neo-Gothic style. It is one of the most important monuments to this style in Latvia and has an ornate limestone façade. The 7th Sigulda Infantry Brigade was housed in the castle from 1921 until 1940. Today it is home to the Alūksne Museum with a permanent exhibition and an “environmental labyrinth.” One of the most unusual exhibits is a set of fluorescent minerals that can be viewed under lights with various spectrums. |

This is one of the most interesting protected territories in the city of Rīga, and its aim is to protect coastline biotopes – dune and coastal meadows and the birds and plants which are found there (among them, 29% of the species of orchids). There is a marked information trail with a bird-watching tower. This is the only outdoor viewing tower in Latvia that has been adapted for the needs of people in wheelchairs.
