This is for birders who can’t afford to take longer breaks to enjoy birdwatching. Short but rewarding trip during spring migration. Cape Kolka is a place where pass the largest numbers of migrating birds in the spring time. More than several tenth of thousand birds cross the Cape each hour. During active period of migration it is possible to see more than 100 different species daily just at this one place. There are several birdwaching places located at different biotops – seaside meadows, sea cost and lakes and wetlands. Kemeri National Park is one of the best places for woodepecker watching. In a short period of time it is possible to see about seven species. |

Here you will learn about home-based manufacturers, farms, companies and others in northern Vidzeme that produce various dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, ice cream, etc. You’ll start out in Cēsis with its Medieval old town, castle ruins, St John’s Lutheran Church and other destinations. Wind your way through the Gauja National Park (Ungurmuiža, Lake Ungurs, the Medieval castle and church at Straupe). You’ll hit the seashore at Saulkrasti and then drive along it to Tūja, where you will turn inland again. In Limbaži you will find Medieval castle ruins, a monument to the great folklorist Krišjānis Barons and other objects. Drive on to Valmiera (St Simon’s Church, castle ruins, a museum, Emotion Park, etc.), Rūjiena and Naukšēni (the Naukšēni Estate). Along the “Northern Pathway” you will reach Kārķi and then Smiltene and legendary Rauna (the Raunas Staburags cliff) before returning to your starting point. |

The Pīlādži farm is in the Durbe Parish of the Durbe Administrative District. It is primarily a grain farm, but also breeds livestock and grows flowers and vegetables. |

This is a short stretch of the Daugava River valley between Lielvārde and Dzelme, with islands and shallows in the river, as well as with reeds and wet meadows alongside it. During migration season, many goose-type and plover-type birds rest and feed here. The location is also an important nesting area for several other kinds of birds.

The Buse (Matkule) castle hill is next to the Imula River. The hill and the opposite bank of the river offer one of the loveliest views of small rivers in Kurzeme. They are best seen during the season when trees are bare so that leaves do not cover up the landscapes. There are trails for pedestrians in the area. |

One of the most distinct sub-glacial depressions in Latvia, with 11 lakes of various sizes and depths. This is a magnificently lovely territory, with particularly good views from the Drusku castle hill. On a clear day, one can even see the Hanja highlands of Estonia. The restricted territory was set up to protect boreal and hillside forests I the area.

Teaching workshops and home cafés are common throughout Estonia, but they are found most in Peipsimaa region. During the workshops, the participants, with the help of the chef, prepare 3-4 dishes, which are then shared afterwards. Emphasis is placed on local products and the favourite recipes of Peipsimaa region. Teaching workshops are mainly organised outdoors, where a fireplace is made; a grill, pot or samovar is used. In winter, workshops even take place on the ice of Lake Peipus. |

This is a professional livestock farming tour to visit farms that breed cows, sheep, goats and pigs. During the introductory day, participants will tour the Latvian capital city of Rīga, which is on the UNESCO List of World Heritage, and meet with representatives of the Latvian Agriculture Ministry and agricultural NGOs. The next morning it’s off to Kurzeme to visit a farm that breeds meat cattle. The second farm on the list specialises in the breeding of purebred and mixed breed cattle for siring, fattening and meat production. It sells piglets and offers pork, grains, potatoes and beekeeping products. In the evening we will visit Kuldīga to see Europe’s widest waterfall on the Venta River. The next morning we will travel to Vidzeme, where the first farm specialises in livestock breeding and intensive farming, while the second specialises in dairy farming and the production of grains and grasses. We will visit the ruins of the Koknese castle, which stands along the banks of the legendary Daugava River. In the evening, we will visit one of the largest goat farms in Latvia, with some 160 purebred goats (Alpine, Anglo, German White Noble), as well as hogs for breeding. Several types of cheese will be available for tasting. The next morning, we will visit one of Latvia’s largest sheep farms. The biological farm has about 250 head of sheep. The second farm grows grain and grasses and engages in dairy farming and livestock breeding. We will visit the Medieval castle in Cēsis, which was the residents of the masters of the Livonian Order and one of the most fortified fortresses in the territory of the Baltic States. At the conclusion of the day, we will go to Ungurmuiža Estate, which is one of the most outstanding examples of 18th century Baroque wood construction in Latvia. |

Guided walks can be supplemented with delicious herb teas and herb pies if booked in advance.
