Redāns ir 19. gadsimta beigās celtā Liepājas Jūras cietokšņa daļa, kur notikušas Latvijai nozīmīgas cīņas. Lai gan uzbūvētie nocietinājumi ap Karostu tika atzīti par stratēģisku kļūdu un vairums no tiem saspridzināti, Redāns palicis teju neskarts. Tā ir arī vienīgā nocietinājuma daļa, kur notikusi reāla karadarbība.Par liecina ložu šautie caurumi sienās.

1919. gada 14. novembrī šeit notika brīvības cīņas par neatkarīgu Latviju, aizstāvot Liepāju pret Bermonta karaspēku. 14. novembra rītā, pārejot aizsalušo Tosmares ezeru, bermontiešu kājnieki ieņēma Redānu. Taču dažu stundu laikā liepājnieki veica niknu pretuzbrukumu, un vāciešiem nācās atkāpties.

Jūnijā, jūlijā un augustā katru dienu plkst. 11.00–17.00 pie Redāna gaidīs zinošs gids, kas būs gatavs pastāstīt vairāk par Liepājas cietoksni un vēsturiskajiem notikumiem Karostā. Cena – 2 EUR no personas.

The windmill was built between 1867 and 1869 after a design first produced in the Netherlands.  Its name is that of its first owner – Riba.  The windmill is one of the best preserved architectural monuments of its type in Latvia, and it offers an educational exhibition, “The Path of the Grain.”  It talks about the development of agriculture in Zemgale and about grain farming and the baking of bread.  Guided tours are available.  The windmill is part of the Rožmalas leisure complex, which features a hotel and a restaurant.

Ilze Kupča bakes cakes in Mārupe, preserving her grandmother’s traditions. She has received several awards in various competitions in Latvia. She makes cakes and zephirs from natural products, which are either purchased from Latvian farmers or home producers, grown by herself, or even picked in the forests. Individual orders are accepted. Rye delicacies: blackcurrant and apple zephirs with rye breadcrumbs, lingonberry and caramel cake with rye bread.

Varniku mežā (Varnikų miškas) ir izveidota patiesi interesanta dabas izziņas taka, kas iet cauri dažādiem biotopiem – skujkoku un ozolu mežiem, purvainu mežu un sūnu purvu ar akačiem un nelieliem purva ezeriņiem, kur uzceltas divas skatu platformas. Mitrajās vietās un purvā ir izveidotas koka laipas. Šī ir populāra pastaigu vieta. The Kaļķupe River valley was established as the Pilsupe River (formed by Kaļķupe River and Mazupe River) crossed the Blue hills of Šlītere to the South of Vīdale and Kaļķi. The distinct river valley has a branched network of gullies in which Devonian sandstone has been uncovered and can be seen in some locations. Puiškalns Hill (located at confluence of Kaļķupe River and Mazupe River), which was used as a castle hill and as a sacred location long in the past, is one of the most distinctive parts of the area. It is a popular tourist destination in the Talsi District. Hillside forests, various kinds of meadows and a wide range of plants are also of value in the local environment.

The Lake Lubāns, wetland of Lubāns. Lubāns (80.7 km2) is the largest lake in Latvia and the most popular lake and wetland in Europe. The lake and the wetland has biodiversity; a unique place not only in Latvia, but also internationally. Nature Reserve is included in the European Union network of protected areas and NATURA 2000 under the Ramsar Convention criteria as the wetland of international importance. Lubāns wetland, called marshy meadows, includes bogs, wet meadows and wet forests. In autumn and spring the lake attracts thousands of migratory waterfowl which is easily to wach from the bird observation towers or the terrace of water tourism development center.

This is a swamp into which sulphurous waters flow, and it is on the left bank of the Abava River valley. This is the only place in Latvia where the protected shrubby cinquefoil is found in the wild. This bush covers approximately one-fifth of the restricted territory. It also includes forests, various kinds of meadows and sulphurous streams, including the one which is known as the Devil’s Eye.

This section of the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route is suitable to hardy hikers who like to travel across uninhabited places. In many places, reeds, floodplains with pastures and wetlands stretch across the Estonian seacoast, which is why the itinerary often leads you along forest and country roads. In the second half of summer you can pick the mushrooms and berries in the coastal forests. Pärnu is a popular resort city with many cafés, live music, SPAs, hotels and a beautiful Old Town.

The nature park in the Ogre River valley is found along the middle section of the river. It has been established so as to protect the unregulated river valley and its surrounding territory, as well as biological diversity and habitats. For instance, this is an area in which rare park-type meadows can be found in Latvia. The Ogre is one of Latvia’s most popular rivers for water tourism in the spring, particularly downriver from the town of Ērgļi, where the technically complicated Braži rapids are found.
