One of the most attractive and informative nature trails in the environs of Rīga. It leads the visitor around the 17-metre Ragakāpa dune, which is most interesting. People can learn about the habitats of the dune areas and the plants and animals of the area. Some of the pine trees are as much as 100 years old and more. The trail is 2km long in each direction and will take some two hours to traverse. This is part of the Ragakāpa nature park.

The hydroplane airfield is on the eastern shore of Lake Durbe, not far from Līguti. It was built between 1939 and 1941. During the Soviet era, the 43rd aviation escadrille was located here, and it had 13 MBR-2 hydroplanes. All that’s left today are the cement sheets on the shore of the lake. You can look at the site itself.

The craftsman will tell you all about the history of pottery and demonstrate his work. You can commission and purchase his products. Once a year, in July, Mr Klīdzējs fires up the chamber kiln that is at the Salacgrīva School of Art. |

Here you will find a ceramicist who offers educational activities during which you can shape your own items and then put them in the kiln. The studio welcomes kindergarteners, schoolchildren, adults and senior citizens. The ceramicist has experience with people with special needs. Finished clay products are available at the studio.

In 1615, Courlandian Duke Friedrich Kettler (1569-1642) allowed Bauska to build a new city hall. At the beginning of the 17th century, Market Square in Bauska featured the largest city hall in the entire duchy. A lack of money led to the dismantling of the hall’s tower in 1852 and its second floor in 1871. A new city hall was built in 2011, and now Bauska can be proud of a new and outstanding tourist destination that can also be entered. The restored city hall offers a chance for people to weigh themselves and measure their height with old-time measurements. Each person who does so receives a certificate to attest to his or her height and weight. |

The castle hill of Rasnupļi (Opiņķi) is a significant place on the foot of the hill inhabited by ancient Latgalians.
You will notice Velna ala (Devil’s cave) also called small Staburags of Latgale (ancient cult place)
in the right side of the Vīce river. It is a small natural geologically unique formation (length – 3m, width –
2m, high – 0,6m). There are only two such caves in Latvia. There are 5 – 6 m long stalactites.

Sāmsalas ziemeļrietumu daļā jūrā iestiepjas iespaidīgā Tagameizas pussala (Tagamõisa poolsaar). Tās ziemeļrietumu daļā meklējama mazāka – ap 5 km garā Harilaidas pussala (Harilaid). Pussalas vidusdaļā viļņojas Lajalepas ezers (Laialepa järv) - bijušais jūras līcis, kas zemes garozai ceļoties, kļuvis par iekšēju ūdenstilpi. Arī pati Harilaida (igauniski „laid” nozīmē „saliņa”) vairāk nekā trīs gadsimtus atpakaļ bijusi sala. Harilaidu iecienījuši ne tikai migrējošie putni, bet arī roņi, kurus piesaista vientuļi līči un akmeņainās sēres. Harilaidu var apmeklēt tikai ar kājām vai ar divriteni, bet spēkrati ir jāatstāj autostāvlaukumā. No tā ~ 1 km attālumā atrodas vieta, kur pēc 17. gs. radies Harilaidas savienojums ar Sāmsalu. Šeit paveras nepierasti klaja un akmeņaina ainava. Pārējā Harilaidas daļa ir apmežota pirms ~ 40 gadiem. Kopumā būs jāveic ~ 10 km garš pārgājiens. |

The Vijciems Hunting Castle building houses an elegant design guest house Bergervilla. Each room has an individually designed design, historic furniture and a special atmosphere. There are 4 rooms available - a standard room, a two-room suite and two deluxe rooms with a private balcony and a bathtub. Each room is given the name of a forest beast or bird - Owl, Mednis, Deer and Elk. There is also a living room and library for guests to relax in, as well as a fully equipped kitchen for cooking. Nacionālā parka galvenā ainavas dominante. Ezers ir ~ 8,4 km garš un līdz 3,3 km plats. Tā austrumu krasti pārsvarā ir ar mežiem apauguši, ziemeļrietumu krasts – purvains, bet rietumu krastā parādās apdzīvotas sētas un simpātiskā Plateļu (Plateliai) pilsētiņa, kur meklējamas skaistākās skatu vietas. Ezera krastos ir labi attīstīta infrastruktūra - tūristu mītnes, ēdināšanas uzņēmumi (Plateļos), ūdenssporta un atpūtas inventāra noma. Ūdens dzidruma dēļ, Plateļu ezeru ir iecienījuši zemūdens niršanas entuziasti. Ezerā ir vairākas salas, no kurām interesanta ir Pils salas (Pilies sala), uz kuras no 15. – 16. gs. atradās muiža. Pastāv uzskats, ka senie Plateļu apkārtnes iedzīvotāji sākotnēji ir dzīvojuši uz salas, kuru ar krastu savienojis uz pāļiem celts tilts. Jāpiemin, ka 15 gs. pirmoreiz pieminētā Plateļu pilsētiņa atradusies uz Šventorkalņa (Šventorkalnis) kalna. Apkārt Plateļu ezeram ir izveidots ~ 24 km garš velomaršruts. Tā ir ļoti laba iespēja iepazīt parku videi un ceļotāja veselībai draudzīgā veidā. |
