  • Special programmes are offered to visitors, with meals, stories about holiday and everyday traditions, and songs. Sometimes visitors are involved in preparing the food.
  • Menus use local names for dishes along with explanations and a discussion of the local dialect.
  • Providers of Latvian foods also use ethnographic styles for interior design, as well as dishes, furniture, textiles, etc., from local craftspeople.

"Zoltners" restorans un alus daritava

The “Zoltners” restaurant offers dainty dishes from fresh seasonal products. The key philosophy of the menu is staying natural and unsophisticated. Endijs Vīnerts, the restaurant chef, has a special approach to create the combinations of tastes that are characteristic to North Europe and to discover new nuances of the tastes of local products.
The brewery produces two unique original sorts of beer. Own production – from the grain to the beer mug.

The “Lejasmalas” leisure facility

The Lejasmalas leisure base is on the banks of Lake Leja with a beautiful view of islands in the lake.  It offers Lettigalian dishes made of locally soured products.
Latvian cuisine: Potato dumplings (or carrot dumplings), 7 types of cheese, homemade boiled, baked and blood sausages, warm dishes with pork offal, fish soup, smoked eel, stuffed pike, fish cakes, birch juice, moonshine alcohol.

Guest house KONU DZIRNAVAS

The watermill processes wool with equipment that is 100 years old and is used to produce handmade blankets and pillows that are stuffed with sheep wool, as well as souvenirs that can be commissioned and purchased.  The watermill offers tours and fresh-baked bread.  A wool pulling and wrapping machine that dates back to the 19th century and was manufactured at the Šūberts Rudītis & Co company in the 19th century is still used, as are a unique weaving apparatus from Germany and a grain mill.

 

Latvian cuisine: Marinated herring with vegetables, porridge, mashed potatoes a la Vidzeme (with fried onions), pancakes with jam made of Latvian berries and honey, homemade bread.

 

Special foods: Water pretzels and local soup with six types of fish.

Brewery BRENGUL‎U ALUS

The garden is opposite the Brenguļi brewery, where unfiltered and unpasteurised beers are made from locally grown grains and on the basis of the knowledge of ancestors. The beer garden offers light and dark Brenguļi beer, as well as Latvian dishes.

The bistro is 130 m from the Bērzkrogs crossing (opposite the Statoil petrol station). It works with local producers of ingredients that can be tasted or bought at the bistro. Souvenirs are also available.

Just 20 minutes’ drive from Pärnu, in the old Tõstamaa forestry building, Amps & Lonks café offers travellers a little rest and pizza made from fresh local produce. Especially popular, is the pizza with home-reared beef and fresh salad. You can also order in advance.
