If you enjoy an active lifestyle then this tour is the perfect way to enjoy the heritage hidden in the Gauja National Park, from several different perspectives. Cycling starts at Strenči and passses two local breweries at Brenguļi and Valmiermuiža with nice cafes and good beer. From Valmiera the route goes through beautiful forest to Cēsis with its charming medieval Old Town. Canoeing takes place from Cēsis to Līgatne, which is one of the nicest parts of the Gauja river with its sandstone banks, remote farmsteads and old fashioned water-powered ferry. Ligatne historic centre is connected with the development of its paper mill. Here you can also visit local wine and handicraft producers located in one of the artificial caves typical of the area. Walking the Ligatne Nature trails to see local wild animals in a forest setting. Cycling the surprisingly hilly, winding roads of Sigulda, you'll see Turaida and Sigulda medieval castles, Gutmana Cave and other picturesque views.

This route will allow you to see Latvia's most impressive medieval castles or their ruins, as well as outstanding manor houses from aristocratic estates dating back th the 18th and 19th century. The mansion of the Ungurmuiža Estate is one of the only wooden palaces left in Latvia from those that were built in the early 18th century. The ruins of the Cēsis Castle are among the most impressive Medieval ruins in the country. The tower of the Turaida Castle offers panoramic view of the ancient Gauja River Valley. About one-half of  the route passes through the Gauja National Park. You will arrive at the place where the oldest crossing of the Baltic rivers exists - the rafts which transport people across the river are still powered by the stream itself. 
Accommodations is organized at baronial estates and castles wherever its possible. Suggested meals are organized at the upper class restaurants or places where traditional Latvian atmosphere and dishes can be tried.

To start the tour you take a train from Riga to Liepaja, a city with white sandy beaches and a lively cafe culture. The route goes through suburbs of Liepaja to the former millitary town where you see the Orthodox cathederal, old naval fortifications, former barracks and an imposing military prison which is now a tourism site. Pavilosta is a small seaside town and a favourite with windsurfers. Next the route follows the picturesque coastline, including steep banks at Jurkalne and finishes at the well-maintained town of Ventspils. Then along to fishing villages that are home to the tiny Finno-Ugric ethnic group, the Livs. At Cape Kolka the Baltic Sea meets the Gulf of Riga. Here, sampling the local smoked fish is a must. Further on, the route crosses three different types of sea shore – the stony beach at Kaltene, a sandy one at Upesgriva and coastal meadows at Engure. Finish with the trails at Kemeri National Park and return to Riga from the popular resort town of Jūrmala.

On this tour there are the finest cultural and historical heritage left behind over the course of several centuries – medieval castles, different manors and splendid palaces. Part of the route goes through Gauja National Park with some excellent views of meadows and ancient forest, where  farmsteads carry on with their unchanging lives. A picturesque road connects three castles - Sigulda, Turaida and Krimulda - situated on the high valley sides of the Gauja river. Further on, the road passes one of the oldest churches in Latvia and heads to two attractive 19th century manors at Birini and Igate. Next day, relax in luxury at Dikļi manor hotel. The tour then goes through charming medieval town Cesis with mighty castle ruins and a newer castle alomgside.

The other part of the tour makes a loop formed by Zemgale's distinctive castles and palaces. It includes Jaunpils Castle, barely changed since medieval times, Dobele Castle ruins and Tervete ancient hillock. Located a short ride from each other are 15th century Bauska Castle, strategically situated between two rivers, the classically styled Mežotne Palace hotel and the most famous pearl in the Baltics - splendid baroque and rococo style Rundāle Palace surrounded by a French park.

The route leads mostly through the Gauja National Park where you will see the most beautiful river valley in the Baltic States. It is the ancient Gauja River valley with gorgeous flora and fauna and the mightiest Devonian-period sandstone cliffs, in the region. While riding the route, you can study Latvia's most brilliant medieval city, Cēsis. You can visit medieval castles and castle ruins there and in Sigulda. A guide will take through underground bunkers in Līgatne which were secret in soviet times and have no analogue in North-eastern Europe. You will then pass through the beautiful Otepaa highlands and the Lahemaa National Park in Estonia. The old town of Tallinn is on the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage.

Die Tour beginnt in Riga mit ihrem Jugendstilviertel und der Altstadt. Weiter fahren Sie mit dem Zug nach Sigulda. Eine hügelige Straße führt an der Höhle Gūtmaņa ala (Gutmannshöhle) und an den Burgen Turaida und Krimulda vorbei, die sich an den hohen Ufern des Urstromtales von Gauja befinden. Weiter führt die Straße nach Limbazi, die eine typische lettische Provinzstadt ist. Danach erreichen Sie die Küste der Ostsee und die Stadt Salacgriva, die mit ihren Fischereitraditionen und Neunaugen-Fischzäunen bekannt ist. Außerhalb der Stadt kann man seltene Küstenwiesen und Lagunen besichtigen.
Nach dem Überqueren der Grenze zwischen Lettland und Estland führt die Straße durch alte Küstendörfer Ikla, Treimani, Kabli und Häädemeeste und danach schließt sie sich der internationalen Straße Via Baltica an. In Pärnu besichtigen Sie die Ruutli Fußgängerstraße und die alte Festung. Jetzt ist die Zeit gekommen, zu den Inseln zu fahren: Die Tour führt auf der kleinen Insel Muhu. Besuchen Sie das lokale Fischcafe in Livi und das ethnographische Fischerdorf in Koguva. Weiter führt die Tour über einen Damm zu der Insel Saaremaa. Die Top-Sehenswürdigkeiten sind hier Valjala maalinn – einer der attraktivsten Burgberge in Estland, die Kirche Valjala und der Meteoritenkrater Kali. Mit dem Bus gelangen Sie in der estnischen Hauptstadt Tallinn, die mit ihrer mittelalterlichen Altstadt anzieht. Von Tallinn können Sie einen Ausflug in das ehemalige Militärstützpunkt Paldiski machen, das an die sowjetische Geschichte erinnert. die nicht so lange zurückliegt.

Die Tour führt durch den Nationalpark Gauja, der sich auf beiden Seiten des Urstromtales des Flusses Gauja befindet. Dem Park sind Sandsteinfelsen und Höhlen, eine hügelige Landschaft, wilde Wälder und Burgen charakteristisch. Weiter machen Sie eine Pause an dem Landgut Igate und kräftigen sich mit einer traditionellen lettischen Mahlzeit in der Mühle des Landgutes. Die Tour führt Richtung der Küste, die ein Teil des Biosphärenschutzgebietes der Region Nord-Vidzeme ist, und danach geht sie durch die alten estnischen Fischerdörfer bis sie den Kurort Pärnu mit seinen eleganten Villas erreicht. Als Nächstes ist auf dem Plan ein Tag in der wilden Natur im Nationalpark Soomaa vorgesehen, wo Sie altmodische Sumpf-Schuhe ausprobieren und eine Kanufahrt machen können. Weiter auf der Tour geht es durch das Dorf Pootsi mit dem Landgut aus dem 19. Jh. und durch das alte Dorf Varbla. Nehmen Sie die Fähre zu der Insel Muhu und bleiben Sie einige Tage in dem ethnografischen Fischerdorf Koguva, um diese Gegend zu erkunden. Fahren Sie mit dem Fahrrad über den Damm zu der Insel Saaremaa, von der Sie mit einer Fähre in die ruhige Insel Hiiumaa gelangen können, um auf einer Tagestour den wahren estnischen Geist zu erleben. Wenn Sie auf der Insel Saaremaa zurückkehrt sind, dann ist die Zeit für einen freien Tag in der Hauptstadt der Insel gekommen. Kuressaare bietet eine Vielfalt an Spa-Behandlungen und Entspannungsmöglichkeiten. Weiter fahren Sie mit einem Bus nach Tallinn mit ihrer reizvollen mittelalterlichen Altstadt. Aus Tallin unternehmen Sie einen Tagesausflug in das ehemalige Militärstützpunkt auf der Insel Naissaar, wo man auf besonderen Radwegen die Militärgeschichte und Naturschutzgebiete erkunden kann.

Diese Tour bietet auch einige authentische Erfahrungen in der Region der Blauen Seen in Ostlettland und Ostlitauen. Diese Region kennt noch kein Massentourismus, hier können Sie sehr freundliche und herzliche Menschen treffen, traditionelle Dörfer, viele Kirchen und Kultstätten besichtigen, die Heidentum, römischen Katholizismus, Luthertum, russisch orthodoxen Glauben und Altgläubige zusammenbringen.
Die Tour webt sich durch den Nationalpark Rāzna, der den See Rāzna umfasst, und bietet malerische Landschaften, traditionelle Höfe und historische Burgberge. Hier befinden sich das Wallfahrtsziel und die Kirche von Aglona und das Brotmuseum, das ein Besuch wert ist. Die Tour führt durch Daugavpils, wo man die eindrucksvolle Festung aus dem 19. Jh. besuchen kann, in deren Gebäuden sich ein Kunstzentrum des weltbekannten Künstlers Mark Rothko befindet. Unterwegs kann man auch einige Werkstätte besuchen, die die traditionellen “schwarzen” Keramikerzeugnisse herstellen. 
Weiter führt die Tour durch den Nationalpark Aukštaitija entlang der Grenze von Litauen. Unterwegs kann man ethnographische Dörfer, hölzerne Kirchen und viele Seen besichtigen. Es ist wert, das Imkereimuseum in Stripeikiai zu besuchen. Um Kontraste zu erleben, führt die Tour auch in den Europäischen Park, der ein Freilichtmuseum für zeitgenössische Kunst und das Zentrum von Europa ist.
