With the meeting in Riga on 12 June 2025, we are launching the project for cider export to Australia.

16.06.2025

Project partners and cider makers from Latvia, Estonia, and Finland met in Riga to discuss the upcoming activities and shared goals of the BALT-FIN-CIDER project. Over the course of three years, we plan to introduce our ciders to the Australian market and for the cider makers – to start sales.

During the meeting, the project team discussed the preparatory work needed for the promo trip to Australia in October, where we will present our ciders to potential stakeholders and buyers as part of a series of events. The visit is being organised in collaboration with the Australian Cider Association, which is delighted about the opportunity for exchange of experience. The first step will be participation in the Australian Cider Awards as international guests. Seven of our cider makers will bring their ciders to Australia. This will be a valuable opportunity to see how Australian experts and beverage industry professionals evaluate the taste and quality of our ciders.
In Australia, we will also visit cideries and organise several presentations for industry professionals, the media, and the Latvian and Estonian diaspora communities.
During the project meeting, together with the cider makers, we discussed previous export experience in far markets, as well as practical and technical aspects related to cider packaging, shipping, and presentation. We also discussed other project activities – the upcoming training sessions for cider makers, the development of a shared Baltic Cider brand identity, and the Baltic Cider website at https://balticcider.com, which will serve as a platform to introduce cider makers and their products.
A presentation on key aspects of project implementation was given by Tiina Keinänen, Project Manager of the Central Baltic Programme.
