В Цесисском Новом замке (площадь Пилс, 9) , построенном в 1777 г. как жилой дом Карла Эбергарда фон Зиверса, находится открытый в 1949 году Цесисский историко-художественный музей. Здание с неоготической башней Ладемахера, декорированное стрельчатыми аркадамии отверстиями, считается одним из первых примеров архитектурной эклектики господских усадеб Латвии. Начиная с марта 2012 года, в музее представлена современная экспозиция «Цесис - символ истории Латвии», который в интерактивном виде знакомит посетителей с историей и окрестностями Цесиса со времен вендов до начала XX века. В экспозицию включены разделы об истории государственного флага Латвии, жизненном пути графов Зиверсов и вкладах в развитие Цесиса. Третий и четвертый этажи замка отведены под переменные экспозиции, также здесь находится специальная комната, предусмотренная для семей с детьми. С башни Ладемахера Нового замка приоткрывается самый красивый вид на развалины Цесисского замка, старый город и лютеранскую церкви Св. Иоанна. |

Название Добеле впервые упоминается в исторических источниках в 1254 году. Добеле было одним из наиболее укрепленных земгальских мест, поэтому в период с 1279 по 1289 гг. пережило шесть нападений немецких крестоносцев. В 1289 году земгальцы вынуждены были отступить. В 1335 году завоеватели на месте земгальского замка приступили к строительству нового, каменного замка. На противоположном левом берегу Берзе начался образовываться посад торговцев и ремесленников. Город сильно пострадал во время Северной войны и последующей эпидемии чумы. Важное событие в хозяйственной жизни города произошло в 1927 году, когда была построена железнодорожная линия Лиепая - Глудас. После Второй мировой войны в Добеле и окрестности города пришли советские военные, которые построили один из крупнейших танковых полигонов СССР «Добеле-2». Сейчас путешествующим по Добеле предлагается интересный выбор посещаемых объектов. |

Двигаясь по дороге Нерете – Илуксте, храм виден издалека. Церковь построена в 1805 году, а отреставрирована - в 1888 г. Внутри церкви сохранился первоначальный алтарь, кафедра и фасад органа. У церкви захоронены немецкие солдаты, павшие во время Первой мировой войны. На западной стене здания помещены две мемориальные доски в память погибших во время Первой мировой войны и репрессированных в советское время жителей Лашу. |

The area is in the centre of the Teirumnīki swamp, alongside a lake of the same name. There is a wooden footpath that crosses the swamp (800 metres). This is an excellent opportunity to study a high swamp, a swamp lake, and the surrounding environment.

For more than a century now, the Gūtmaņa cave has been a popular tourist destination. It is the widest (12 m) and highest (up to 10 m) cave in Latvia. It is more of niche, actually, because its depth is just 18.8 metres. The cave is an interesting geological monument, as well as an important cultural and historical place with lots of legends, among which the most popular one centres on a woman called the rose of Turaida. It seems, however, that of the greatest historical values are the engravings on the walls and ceilings of the cave. The oldest date back to the late 17th century. A stream flows out of the cave, and it continues to shape it. People believe that the water from the stream has medicinal properties. Nearby there is Tourist Information Centre Gutmanala. This grand hiking tour includes some of the best and most beautiful parts of the Forest Trail in Latvia and Estonia. Hikes in the forest trails and villages are combined with trips and excursions in cities, as well as other popular tourist sights in both countries. You will get a detailed impression about the forest diversity and most popular national parks in Latvia and Estonia. You will start the tour in Riga, where you will enjoy the beautiful Old Town included in the UNESCO and Art Nouveau District. Then you will drive to Sigulda and see the most scenic ancient valley of the River Gauja, visit Turaida Museum Reserve, hike in Gauja National Park till the historic Ligatne papermill village. Further on you will visit the famous Lake Āraiši Castle, hike on the Cirulisi nature trails and see the beautiful medieval town of Cesis. On the way to Estonia you will stop at the Sietiņiezis big sandstone cliff to have picturesque views of the River Gauja. Then you will stay in Estonia’s second biggest city – Tartu, and visit the recently opened Estonian National Museum. Further on you will drive to Alutaguse National Park and hike along the picturesque Kurtna landscape reserve among the bright coniferous forests ornamented by the mirror surfaces of its many lakes. At the end of the tour you will hike in Estonia’s oldest national park – Lahemaa, which means the “land of bays” in Estonian. The Forest Trail goes along the bays and peninsulas of Lahemaa National Park, introducing the hikers to its most significant natural and cultural heritage. The forests are rich with blueberries and mushrooms in autumn and the air is very clean. This tour will end with sightseeing in Tallinn, Estonia’s capital city, with the Old Town also included in UNESCO. |

This arboretum is in a lovely location in the Vidzeme highlands. It covers 140 hectares of land and offers a look at interesting coniferous trees, lianas, lilacs, rhododendrons and peonies. The facility has a modern visitor information centres.
Unique species: The Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), the Fringe Tree (Chionanthus virginicus), and the Kobushi Magnolia (Magnolia kobus).

The Neļķes cliffs are in Skaņākalns Park, and they offer the most beautiful view of the Salaka River valley, with its sandstone cliffs and peaceful river. There are good views from the “devil’s pulpit.” It’s worth visiting the Skaņamkalns Hill to check out the views from the famous echo cliff. This is part of the ZBR.
