“Lapsu Mājas siers” in Ogre welcomes visitors from April to October by prior arrangement. During the rest of the year, the tasting and the Jāņi (Midsummer) cheese-making masterclass can be brought to clients at their own location. Both individual visitors and groups can take a tour, which is led in Latvian by the owners themselves. If booked in advance, the tour is also available in English. During the visit, which lasts about an hour, guests hear the story of cheese making and taste 10 different cheeses. These can be sampled on their own or together with jams, honey, fruit, berries and a variety of homemade drinks. The range includes reduced-salt cheeses, lactose-free cheeses and Jāņi cheese. The cheeses have been awarded the “Zaļā karotīte” (Green Spoon) quality label and have won awards in the “Novada Garša” competitions. The products can also be purchased on site.
