Die Wirtschaft Rudeņi befindet sich im südlichen Teil des Flachlandes der Region Zemgale, östlich von Bērvircava. Sie ist im Jahr 1999 gegründet worden und hat sich auf Milchrinder spezialisiert. Zurzeit werden hier mehr als 300 Milchkühe und genauso viele Kälber gezüchtet. Der zweite Bereich der Wirtschaft ist Getreidezucht. Auf den Feldern von Rudeņi wachsen auf mehr als 400 ha Wintergetreide, Sommergetreide, Raps und Mais. Um den bei der Viehzucht entstandenen Abfall zu verwerten, wurde eine moderne Biogasanlage gebaut. Die in dieser Anlage hergestellte Energie wird für die Bedürfnisse der Wirtschaft verwendet. Die Wirte nehmen aktiv an EU-Projekte teil. Dank einem der Projekte wurde ein Gebäude mit 400 Plätzen und Melkkarusell gebaut. |

Der botanische Park Palanga umgibt das Bernsteinmuseum in Palanga. Er ist einer der schönsten, reichhaltigsten und am besten gepflegten Parks in Litauen. Begründet wurde er aus dem Birutė gewidmeten einstigen Bannwald und war daher lange Zeit im Volksmund als Birutė-Park bekannt. Er hat ein Areal von 101,3 ha. Der mit Talent entworfene Park zeichnet sich durch große landschaftliche Vielfalt aus, mit meisterhaft gewundenen Pfaden, Blumenrabatten auf den Plätzen, 2 Teichen und Elementen der Kleinarchitektur. |

Das Rainis – Museum „Jasmuiža“ (Raiņa memoriālais muzejs „Jasmuiža”) Von 1883 – 1891 lebte Rainis‘ Vater Krišjānis Pliekšāns in dem Herrenhaus, das ehemals im Besitz der Familie Šadurski gewesen war. Der junge Dichter Rainis verbrachte hier seine Jugendjahre, wie es sich in dem Werk „Im Land meiner jungen Jahre“ (“Manu Jaunu dienu zemē”) wiederspiegelt. In Jasmuižā entstand auch die Übersetzung von Puschkins Drama „Boris Godunow“. Um das Werk des Dichters zu würdigen, wurde 1964 im Verwalterhaus des Gutshofes die Ausstellung „Rainis‘ Gymnasial- und Studienjahre“ geschaffen. Im renovierten Kuhstall des Hofes kann man Töpferarbeiten aus Latgale sehen. |

This is a lovely park and a reconstructed estate from the mid-19th century, located 14 km away from Panevežys in northern Lithuania. The estate was established during the latter half of the 19th century, and during the 20th century, various buildings were erected, including a two-story mansion with two floors (mid-19th century), stables, cellars, a gardener hut and ancillary buildings. The mixed-type park with ponds was installed in during the latter half of the 19th century. There was a large pergola on a hillock in the park, and it was alongside the gardener's hut. The silhouette of the park is enlivened by newly pave pathways and little bridges that link the ponds. |

Mooste Manor is located on the Mooste lakeshore. The attractive mansion is complemented by a large number of outbuildings in Historicist style, and a landscaped park in English style. The mansion houses the local school, the woodwork shop has become a guesthouse, the stable of workhorses is home to restorers, the manager´s house is the Centre for Art and Social Practice while the cattle shed is a concert hall today. |

The tour passes through national parks and protected nature territories of interntional importance, following the sea shore. It also stops at small charming towns, several historic sites and traditional villages. During the tour you learn not only about rare and protected plants and local traditions but also enjoy beautiful landscapes, wilderness and solitude. At the Ķemeri National Park you will follow a fenland trail, see wild meadows and stop at a bird-watching tower beside Lake Kaņieris. Then we explore the Engure Lake Nature Park where 22 types of orchids can be found. Next day thr route heads to Slitere National Park, the former territory of the Baltic Ice Lake and Litornic Sea. You will follow the Cape Kolka pine-tree trail and Peterezers Lake trail with ancient dunes and landscape. Then head to Stiklu Bog trail, in the largest bog territory in Latvia. At Užava you will discover the largest 'grey' dune in the Baltics before following the wild banks of the River Venta and visiting the charming town of Kuldiga, with its well-preserved wooden architecture and the widest waterfall in Europe. The route follows the Abava valley created by the melting of ancient ice. At Sabile you can stop at its famous Wine Hill - location of the most northerly grown grapes from which wine is produced - and follow a botanic trail with stops at the grandest oak tree in Europe. On the way to Riga, walk 5 km long Cena Heath trail which features low, high and transit bogs and related plants. |

This territory was established to protect the rare tree specie in Latvia - common hornbeam, which covers approximately 4% of the territory, but the most visually interesting part of the area is the Tīrspurvs swamp, also known as the Dunika heath. This is where the visitor will find Latvia’s longest and most impressive swamp footpaths, which crosses the area from the North to the South. Visitors will be fascinated by the unique landscape of the central part of the swamp, where in some places there are not even small swamp pine trees. Various habitats will be found – small swamp lakes, mineral islands, marsh pools, etc., and that is to say nothing of all the birds in the area. |

The tour starts at Jaunmokas Castle estate, where you will also find the Forest Museum. The pride of the castle is its unique painted tile stove (beginning of the 20th century) made of 130 painted tiles featuring 50 different views of the cities Rīga and Jūrmala. The Forest Trails runs along smaller tracks through the Austrumkursa Uplands, the valley of the river Slocene, along Lake Sekļa and Lake Jumprava to finally reach the town of Tukums. Well, the town takes pride in its pots, planters and flower beds with blooming roses along its streets. Next, the route meanders through forests to the demanding hillock of Milzkalns and Lake Valguma, where you will find the barefoot trail and a secluded art space within the woods. The Forest Trail continues to make a stopover at the Ķemeri National Park. The park is dedicated to protection of wetlands, since it is home to one of the largest marshlands of Latvia – the Great Ķemeri bog. As to the town – Ķemeri – it is the former balneological and sulphur springs resort. The tour ends in the village of Bigauņciems, where the Forest Trail joins with the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route (E9 European long distance path). Optionally, one can take a detour along the Lake Sloka trail with its bird-watching tower or pay a visit to the “Forest House” – the visitor’s centre of the Ķemeri National Park. |
