18. gadsimta beigās celtās Rundāles muižas ūdensdzirnavas atrodas Pilsrundāles centrā. Ūdensdzirnavas savas pastāvēšanas laikā piedzīvojušas divus postošus ugunsgrēkus, taču laika gaitā to darbība tika atjaunota. Tolaik dzirnavas darbojušās ar ūdens spēku un papildus tam bijusi uzstādīta arī tvaika mašīna. 20. gadsimta trīsdesmitajos gados, kad par īpašnieku kļuva Voldemārs Bergmanis, ūdensdzirnavu ēku atjaunoja un pilnībā nokomplektēja ar tolaik vismodernākajām firmas “O. J. Keller” dzirnavu graudu pārstrādes mašīnām, kā arī tika izvērsta plaša saimnieciskā darbība: labības pārstrāde, galdniecība, vilnas apstrāde un augļu pārstrādāšana. Mūsdienās ūdensdzirnavu ēkā ir izveidots muzejs piecos stāvos, kurā var iepazīties ar dzirnavu darbību. Iespējams sekot līdzi grauda ceļam pa koka šahtām līdz samaltam miltu maisam. Piedāvājumā arī inventāra noma Rundāles ūdensdzirnavu tilpnē. Pieejami SUP dēļi, airu laiva, ūdens velosipēds un kanoe laiva. 2021. gadā tika izveidota neliela alus darītava un uzsākta alus ražošana. Tiek ražots gaišais un tumšais alus, kura visas sastāvdaļas tiek iepirktas Latvijā, bet graudi no vietējiem zemniekiem. Videi draudzīgā iekārta atbilst jaunākajiem ES standartiem un prasībām. Antons Rancans produces wooden busts of well known people from politics, the arts and other fields of endeavour, and these can be purchased. Visitors can also commission decorative objects that are produced from wood. The artist also produces crucifixes. Gundega Rancāne is a landscape painter who is renowned for her masterful use of light and shadow. Her works are available for purchase.

The Markova information trail is the most diverse and impressive trails along the upper reaches of the Daugava river in terms of objects and landscapes. The visitor will go to the top of the Markova castle hill, which offers a great view of the river valley. The deep Putāni stream valley will be crossed to get to the cliffs on the right bank of the Daugava. Here, the visitor will see one of the most unusual landscapes of Latvia’s river valleys. There is the Slutišķi village of Old Believers, along with the mighty Slutišķi cliff in the background. The trail is 1.6km long, and it will take an hour or two, particularly if the visitor chooses to tour the village and the homes of the Old Believers.

Painted in dark colours, this building dates back to the 17th century (the square around it is cited in documents). The city’s first prison was in the cellar of the building, and the square was historically a place for residents of the city could gather and suffer punishments. A pole of shame was at the south-eastern corner of the square. The building now houses the Kuldīga Tourism Information Centre and a workshop for weavers. Visitors can purchase products and souvenirs from Kurzeme and watch weavers at work. |

There is no need to enter the bog to see it, there are good views from the highway Ventspils – Riga (77 km, bus stop “Pagrieziens uz Elkskeni”). The main value of restricted area is chalky fen bog with brown bog-rush (greatest habitat finding in Latvia). Be careful when stopping on the highway – mind the traffic! A couple of kilometers towards Riga, on the right side of the highway, there is sign to Grizu Velna kresls ( Grizu Devil Chair) which is an attractive boulder (protected).

The Brasla River flows through a lovely valley that is approximately 300 m wide and up to 30 m deep. It is near the Inčukalns-Valka highway. The river has among the most beautiful rapids in the country, with mighty cliffs (the Brasla cliffs) that can be seen at nearly every curve in the river (except along the lowest reaches of the river). During the winter, various unusual frozen waterfalls can be seen in some of the cliffs, including the Krauļukalns cliff and the Jāņavārti cliff. On the left bank of the Brasla, opposite the Brasla fish farm, there are the Aņīte cliffs -- a series of sandstone cliffs that are 1 km long. The cliffs are between 2 and 35 m in height, and the sandstone cliffs are separated by ravines. On the right bank of the Brasla, there are major cliffs such as the Vāršavu cliff, the Kraukļukalns cliff, the Jāņavārti cliff, the Slūnu cliff, the Virtaka cliff and the Buļi cliff. How can you best learn about them? Boat down the river from the aforementioned highway or even from Straupe, which is further upstream. An alternative is hiking down the right bank of the river, though please take into account that the terrain is fairly extreme, and you are going to have to think about what to do when you arrive at the place where the Brasla River flows into the Gauja. |

The estate of 12 buildings and a park has survived almost completely to this very day. The main building of the estate was erected on a largish oval island in the 1840s, and it has a moat all around it. This was meant to resemble fortified Medieval castles. The mansion is currently home to the local parish government, library and post office. Visitors can take a tour of the estate and its surroundings. There are stories about the estate to say that the baron had a beautiful daughter who, like the Rose of Turaida, refused to obey her father's instructions. This is an entirely forested island in the Bay of Finland, ~14 km from Tallinn. A network of small pathways covers the entire island. Recommended hike along the seashore of the island, which will offer dunes, as well as a coastline that is sandy in some parts, rocky in others, and covered with reeds in still others (~9 km). A ferry boat will take you to the island from the Pirita port.
