The windmill is on a hill and offers a lovely view. This is one of the few Dutch-type windmills (built in 1852) to still be in operational order, and guests can help to grind grain. On the last Sunday of every July, the windmill organises a celebration in honour of St Jacob and of bread baked from freshly harvested rye. This nature park protects the landscapes of the Latgale highlands. Of importance here are Lake Ruskulis and Lake Cīrītis with its eight islands, along with the forests of the area. An ancient castle hill is on one of the islands in Lake Cīrītis – the Upursala island. There and on the Oši island, specialists have found more than 250 species of plants. |

Cycling starts at Strenči and passes two local breweries at Brenguļi and Valmiermuiža with nice cafés and good beer. You will hike through beautiful forests and along the Sietiņiezis sandstone cliff towards Cēsis with its charming medieval Old Town. Canoeing takes place from Cēsis to Līgatne, which is one of the nicest parts of the River Gauja with its sandstone banks, remote farmsteads and old fashioned water-powered ferry. Līgatne historic centre is connected with the development of its paper mill. Here you can also visit local wine and handicraft producers located in one of the artificial caves typical of the area. Walk the Līgatne Nature Trails to see local wild animals in a forest setting. At the end you will cycle from Līgatne to Sigulda, which is one of the most popular tourist sights in Latvia. You'll see the Turaida and Sigulda medieval castles, Gutman’s Cave and other picturesque views. |

This route is best for active hikers who want to travel down the valley of the mightiest river in the Baltic States to see lovely landscapes and feel powerful emotions. The route begins in Sigulda, which has been known as the Switzerland of Vidzeme and offers some of the loveliest views in Latvia. The route crosses the deep valleys of several Gauja River territory, offering a look at shores that are known at the Baltic level for their mighty Devonian cliffs. The nature trails in Līgatne are the only place in Latvia to see forestland that is close to natural circumstances, with forest animals living in large fenced areas so that they can be seen. Nature restricted area is located to the South from former railroad Ventspils-Liepaja and includes approximately 6 km of Uzava River (and the old drainage system). The territory was used for agriculture during Soviet time, now it starts overgrow by scrubs. The protected nature values – rare bird species, including corncrakes, variety of grassland habitats and plant species. Territory is not useable for tourism activities. There is a possibility to get good insight into the North part of restricted area from the road Alsunga – Berzkalns where information stand is located.

Памятник природы - охраняемые дендрологические насаждения «Парк Варкавас» - расположен в Упмальской волости, и его площадь составляет 2,7 га, является охраняемым с 2001 года; территорией управляет Варкавский областной совет. Парк был разбит в конце 19-го века, судя по самым большим дубам (приблизительно 200-летним), остальные насаждения были проведены в конце 19-го века. В парке растут местные сорта кустарников и деревьев - клены, ясени, ели, осины, дубы, нежная ива, липы, вязы, лещина, бересклет европейский, черемуха и др., а также более 10 экзотических видов деревьев и кустарников, наиболее значимые из которых - клен остролистный, клен сахарный, чубушник пушистый, душистая осина, серебряная ива, Венгерская сирень, Крымская липа, липа широколиственная. |

Усадьба Астрава представляет собой один из ярчайших образцов литовской архитектуры в стиле романтизма XIX в. Она находится в Астраве, на полуострове озера Ширвена. До нее легко добраться пешком из Биржай по самому длинному в Литве деревянному пешеходному мосту через озеро Ширвена. Парк площадью 18 га смешанной планировки был здесь разбит в 1851–1862 гг. В парке растут местные растения: ели, сердцевидные липы, сосны. |

Исторический камень, на котором заметен высеченный более 200 лет назад пограничный знак, указывающий на бывшее место границы между Курземским герцогством и Российской губернией. В наши дни - это граница Бабитского и Елгавского края. Камень находится к востоку от дороги Калнциемс – Кудра (на юге от болота Лаба) на краю лесной просеки, и несведущему может быть трудно его найти. Для этой цели пригодится описание пути: примерно в 400 метрах к югу от автостоянки у озера Лилий с дороги Калнциемс - Кудра вправо (на восток) уходит лесная дорога, которая ведет вниз от гор Крачи. По дороге надо пройти примерно метров 170, до тех пор, пока она резко не повернет вправо (на юго-восток). Потом следует идти в упомянутом направлении и примерно через 0,5 км повернуть на северо-восток, после чего еще ~ через 0,4 км на очередном лесном перекрестке повернуть на север. Через ~ 0,4 км на большой просеке надо повернуть направо (на восток), с левой (северной) стороны просеки за мелиорационной канавой в безлиственный период уже виден округлый каменный этаж. Из-за плохого состояния дороги до камня можно дойти только пешком. |

Кроме упомянутых в этой базе данных Лиепайских Северных фортов, береговых батарей и Военного порта, по периметру города Лиепаи находятся и другие впечатляющие элементы этой системы, из которых, находясь в Лиепае, стоит осмотреть Лунете (южная часть озера Тосмаре), Средний форт (между улицей Гризупес и бульваром 14 ноября), Восточный форт (к югу от улицы Бривибас и к северу от Лиепайского озера), Южный форт (рядом с каналом Перконе) и Старые форты рядом со стадионом «Олимпия». Все упомянутые места свободно доступы для посещения, но во время осмотра следует соблюдать меры предосторожности, иначе взорванные форты могут быть опасны для посетителей изнутри.

The owner uses Latvian products to make and offer more than 20 different wines, including some that are made of exotic flowers. You can taste and purchase wines made of berries, fruit, vegetables and flowers, including white jasmine, the elderberry tree, dandelions, the large cranberry, etc. There is a lily garden alongside which is the largest one in Eastern Europe and offers plants for sale. The day lily garden offers a look at globally famous types of day lilies which can be purchased. Many of these have been developed by the originator of the garden, Varis Baņģieris. More than 1,000 types of day lilies can be seen and purchased. The garden is open from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM every day in July and August, when the flowers bloom. The owner also offers tastings of homemade wine that is called "Vējkalnietis." |

Takās apskatāmi vairāk kā 40 unikāli dabas objekti, gan dižakmeņi, gan dižkoki, kā arī un pagasta ievērojamākie arhitektūras un kultūrvēstures pieminekļi. No 2016.gada maija Dabas takās ietilpst arī „Krēslas stundas taka”, kas īpaši patiks zinātkāriem mazajiem ceļotājiem. Taka stāsta par Rūķu dzīvi mežā un tās veidošanas pamatā ir stāsti no „Lielās Rūķu enciklopēdijas”. |

The “Nida-Pērkone” protected marine territory is one of the most biologically diverse marine territories along the shore of the open part of the Baltic Sea, and it is enormously important for environmental protection. The most important reef territories are found here. During migration season, most species of migrating birds that are found in Latvia cross the area. The territory is particularly important to protect the goosander and the little gull. The territory is opposite the Rucava and Nīca administrative districts and covers 36,703 hectares. It overlaps the marine section of the Pape Nature Park and the Bernāti Nature Park.
