An all-encompassing view of the urban environment next to the Daugava River valley is offered at the car park which is at the start of Augusta Street on the boundary of Krāslava. The unique wooden buildings of the area (the Kaplava Street region) can also be seen on the bridge which crosses the Daugava. Climb Karņickis Hill and hike through the park of the Plāters family of nobles. From there, you will see more local scenes.

The wooden pathway which crosses the high swamp leads to the Teirumnīku swamp lake, which is right in the middle of the swamp. On the shores, there is a well-appointed place for leisure and relaxation. One can return to the starting point via a forest path. The trail is 800m long, and visitors will spend about an hour there. It is a part of the Tīrumnieki nature reserve.

Takas sākums meklējams pie autostāvlaukuma, no kura paveras plašs skats uz Krāslavu un Daugavas senieleju. Adamovas krauja (aizsargājams ģeoloģisks piemineklis) ir viena no garākajām (ap 1,7 km) un augstākajām (25 - 35 m) Daugavas kraujām. The castle hill of Milka is situated near Lake Sālaja and River Malta; 27m above the lake level. Local businessman cleaned the hill and placed the statue of Mother of God there. It is a a symbol of Latgalian strong faith into God and Virgin Mary.

From the Markova castle hill, which you will access from the local information trial, you will see a view of the Daugavsargi curve of the Daugava. Further along, you will reach the open shore of the Daugava to see one of the most unique landscapes of Latvia’s river valleys. For the first time, Balvi as populated area was mentioned in 1224. In the turn of 19th and 20th century, Balvi as manor and the parish centre formed as a larger settlement. During the Latvian freedom fights in 1919 Balvi was a place of establishment of Latgale guerrilla regiment. In 1926 Balvi obtained village rights, but by the 1928 became a town. During the World War II, while retreating, the German burnt down Balvi almost completely. People of Balvi are proud that the sun rises here about three minutes earlier than in the capital. Also the centre of the town has changed over the recent years.

One of the few pure stands of oak trees in Latvia, this one covers 19.6 ha, and it was declared to be a protected territory back in 1928.  The oldest trees are 300 to 400 years old.  The stand of trees can be found alongside the Ezernieki-Andzeļi road.  There is a small car park, along with a hiking trail, an information stand, and a leisure area with a plank from which the northern bay and islands of Lake Ežezers can be seen very well.  There are typical species of plants, mushrooms and insects here, but only a specialist will be able to recognise them.
