The Varakļāni Estate has a mansion which is known as one of the most outstanding monuments to Classicism in Latgale. It was built between 1783 and 1789 and designed by the Italian architect Vincento Macotti, and it was owned by Earl Michael Johan Borch. Late in the 18th century, the same architect designed the estate’s lovely and romantic landscape park, which was one of the first parks of its kind in Latvia. The Varakļāni Administrative District Museum is housed in the mansion today. |

The museum is dedicated to the writer Ernests Birznieks-Upītis (1871–1960), whose nickname as a child used to be Pastariņš. The historic buildings have been restored according to the situation in the mid-20th century. Rye bread, Sun bread, and Shepherd's bread are baked in the museum’s farm. Each spring visitors can take part in building wattle and other types of fences, to bake bread and rolls and to taste the results. In December – baking sklandrauši (a carrot-based pastry). There are weaving demonstrations, butter churning demonstrations and opportunities to try one’s hand at other old-time farm work. |

Ģipka is a village that once was the site of the first maritime school in Kurzeme. It was opened in 1869, just a few years after a similar school in Ainaži. This was a Category 2 maritime school, which trained helmsmen for long-distance trips and captains for short-distance trips. The school was moved to Mazirbe in 1894. Before the maritime school, the building housed a different kind of school, and a second floor was added in 1867 specifically for the maritime school. Today this is a residential building. This 368 metre structure is the highest television tower in the European Union. Its viewing area, which is at a height of 97 metres, is the highest publicly available viewing area in Latvia. The location offers a fantastic view of Rīga and Old Rīga to Pārdaugava, the Bay of Rīga and Sigulda – a radius of at least 50 kilometres.

In the recreation complex it is possible to fish in the carp pond, as well as to swim and sunbathe on the landscaped beach on the loungers. There is a playground for children. It is also possible to organize banquets, seminars and other events. There is also a sauna with a fireplace hall for relaxation for up to 20 people. There are four campsites for accommodation, located above the water on piles. All cottages are heated, with separate shower and toilet, TV and wi-fi internet. Two of them have a kitchen, and one has a fireplace. Each cottage has three or four beds. Tents and camper sites are also available, and tents can be rented on site. |

Located at Pils Street 25A in Alūksne, this is a building that was initially a trade pavilion and was built in the early 20th century. The Ernst Glück Bible Museum was established in 1990 as the only museum of its type in Latvia and the Baltic States. Glück (1652-1705) was a pastor and educator who was the first to translate the Bible into Latvian. The exhibition features various editions of the Bible from 1694 to the present day in 38 languages, along with books of sermons and other examples of Christian literature. |

This farm offers tours, seminars and training for beekeepers. You can visit the bees, help to grow queen bees, produce honey and candles, and taste some of the good things that come from beehives. This educational facility will inform you about beekeeping traditions and allow you to work as a beekeeper. The owners share their knowledge during training sessions. |

As you travel from Kandava to Sabile, you will find a parking lot on the right side of the road. From there, there are steps to a viewing area on the highest hill in the Abava Ancient River Valley – Greiļi Hill. This offers a wonderful view of the ancient river valley and the local mosaic of meadows and forests. The landscape is enriched by the Imula and Amula valleys that are on the other side of the ancient river valley.
