Documents show that the first windmill was built here in the 13th century along with the Kuldīga Castle. During the rule of Duke Jacob, gunpowder was manufactured at the windmill, and it later became the first place in Kurzeme where paper was manufactured. The building took on its current appearance during the 19th century. During the Soviet occupation, a metal processing workshop was in it. |

The farm breeds breeding cows (Galloway, Hereford, Limousine, Charolais and Latvian brown species). You can take an informational tour and watch the feeding of calves. |

This park is in a region of hillocks in the Karula highlands, and Lake Ähijärve is at its centre. The park offers a cultural environment of small farms, and it was set up to protect the unique cupola-shaped hillocks of the area. From Riga the tour goes through historic sea resort Jurmala to Pure Chocolate museum where you could see production and taste some. Then the tour goes to Sabile where there is small Wine Hill which history dates back to 16th century. Then the route follows up the coast line. At Pavilosta you have a trip in traditional fishermen boat and at Alsunga singing and demonstration of local traditions by Suiti women. Culturally colourful community which heritage is listed in UNESCO. Then walk along the steep sea cost at Jurkalne and enjoy the best maintained port town of Ventspils. Next day there is a visit to local fishermen and see fish smoking process, then walk along Cape Kolka where the open sea meets the Riga Bay. Turning back to Riga you have a visit and tasting at wine maker in Talsi. |

A memorial to Finnish soldiers in
Klapkalnciems – five such soldiers from
World War I are buried here. The memorial
was first installed in 1929, but it was
destroyed by the Soviet authorities. It was
recreated in May 2004. The Lapmežciems

A monument to those who liberated Northern Latvia in 1919 was designed by Teodors Zaļkalns and is along the Inčukalns-Valka road. The monument contains text by Edvarts Virza: “As long as grain is sown in these fields, you will be praised and honoured.” The monument features a farmer with a sword and a horse. |

The distinguished Latvian author an painter Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš (1877-1962) spent six years of his childhood at Riekstiņi in Nereta. He was born into a servant family and moved to Riekstiņi together with his mother after his father passed away. The household inspired him for his "White Book." In honour of Jaunsudrabiņš, a museum was opened at Riekstiņi in 1967, and it is in an authentic Selonian farm with its spirit and aromas. You can tour the residential building and the homestead's granary and wheelhouse, also houshold building from 1820. The apple orchard has trees that are 100 years old and older. Nearby is the Ķišķi cemetery (on the side of the Vecumnieki-Ilūkste road), where members of the Jaunsudrabiņš family were interred and Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš was reburied in 1997. The Nereta Administrative District still has many single family farms and place names which Jaunsudrabiņš mentioned in his books. |

A long village stretching along both banks of the Lūžņa River. In 1937, there were 36 houses and two boat piers here. During the 1860s, ships were built here, but during the Soviet occupation, there were military bases there. During the 1930s, the village was visited several times by the Finnish linguist Lauri Ketunen and Estonian student Oskar Lorits. They were working on a Livonian dictionary. Another resident of Lūžņa was the first Livonian artist, Jānis Belte (1893-1946). The "Dēliņi" fisherman's homestead has been transferred to the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum and can be seen there. |

In the centre of the Old City, on the corner of Latgales and Baznīcas streets, the church was built in the style of Russian Classicism between 1843 and 1845. The ceiling and wall paintings were recently restored, and the bell in the steeple weighs 1,667 kg. |

In mid-summer, the farm features the beautiful blooms of rapeseed and flax. A special facility for pressing rapeseed and flax seed oil is on site. You can watch the oil pressing process and purchase some of the resulting oil.

Castle's prototype is England's Windsor castle. Sangaste Castle was finished in 1883. Its last owner was Friedrich von Berg (1845. - 1938.) - known grain selector. Near the castle is a park. |

Ja pa Vilsandi arhipelāgu ceļo ar jūras laivu vai citu peldlīdzekli, tad bāka kalpo kā ļoti labs orientieris daudzo salu, līču un pussalu labirintā. No bākas redzama jūras krastā uzceltā glābšanas stacija. Pateicoties tai, Vilsandi ūdeņos izglābti 29 cilvēki, 2 suņi un 1 kaķis. Tā stāsta vietējie. |

Beautiful views are accessible from the Sabile castle hill (steps, a location for relaxation), Upurkalns Hill (no improvements) and Briņķpedvāle, which part of the Pedvāle Open-Air Art Museum. There are also the Drubaži nature trails. The road between Kandava and Sabile which runs along the right bank of the Abava and the Aizdzire-Kalnmuiža road which runs on the left bank of the Abava also offer beautiful landscapes.
