Находится в стороне от площади Куршу, ул. Э.Венденбаума, д. 1. Старейшая церковь города, сведения о которой сохранились с 1508 года. Первый храм на этом месте был построен из дерева. После неоднократных перестроек (последняя – в 1893 г. под руководством архитектора Лиепаи Пауля Макса Берчи) храм приобрел теперешний вид в неоготическом стиле с башней высотой около 60 м. Церковный интерьер славится одним из самых выдающихся шедевров времен барокко в Латвии – алтарем (резчик по дереву Николя Сефренс младший), который в 2012 году отметил свое 350-летие.Алтарь считается одной из самых выдающихся работ Восточной Европы того времени. This trip will allow you to see seaside landscapes, learn interesting facts about the ancient process of fishing, and enjoy traditional seafood dishes. Your first stop after leaving Rīga will be Ragaciems, where you will find a popular fish market that always offers a wide range of smoked fish from the sea. On the shores of the sea, you can look at a restored fishing boat pier and huts for nets. Further along, groups of 15 people or more can enjoy the "Fisherman's Banquet" programme in Roja. There you will hear stories about the lives, songs, dances and games of fishermen and, of course, enjoy an elegant banquet. Next you will visit Cape Kolka and the Slītere National Park, where men still go fishing in the sea. The aroma of smokehouses will be evident. Travellers can purchase freshly smoked fish there. Along the way to Ventspils, it is worth stopping at the Irbene radio telescope, which has a military history, but is used for scientific purposes today. Next you will drive toward Liepāja and stop at the charming town of Pāvilosta, which is popular among surfers, as well as the steep shores of Jūrkalne, where you will be able to taste fresh baked bread that has been kneaded by hand at a farm. Then you will get to Liepāja, which is the birthplace of Kristaps Porziņģis, a basketball player who plays for the New York Knicks in the NBA. A special treat in Liepāja ir smoked cod with potatoes and sweet cream. You can visit a windmill that was built in 1885 and is still operational, as well as the Pape Nature Park and the ethnographic Ķoņi village. Once you get to Lithuania, you will spend a day at the popular seaside sea town Palanga, and then continue the route to Cape Vente and the Rusne Island, both of which are famous because of fishing and fish smoking traditions. Visit the village of Minija, which is known as the "Venice of Lithuania." Finally, visit the Kurši dunes, the Sea Museum and dolphinarium, as well as the port city of Klaipeda. |

was built between 1930 and 1947. On both sides of the altar are sculptures of angels that date back to the late 17th century and were sculpted in Subate. They are the only elements of this kind in the Baroque decorative sculpture in churches in Kurzeme. It may be that the figure of the Saviour on the cross with a sleeping lamb at his feet was produced by the same artists. No one knows how the artworks arrived in Subate. The organ with its wooden pipes was manufactured by Juris Bokums. During the season, the interior of the church can be toured, and if you contact the church in advance, you can arrange for organ music performances. |

The central part of the town of Krāslava is an historical monument because its low-story and beautiful wooden buildings. The best views of the historical centre relate to the carp park near the Adamova trail, the Karņicskis hill, the bridge across the Daugava (Prospekta Street), and the Priedaine viewing tower on the left bank of the Daugava River. |

The barrow which offers a good view is at the northern end of the Dunduri meadows – at the end of Melnragi. It is an artificial barrow which follows along with the bed of the little Slampe River. The meadows are home to livestock allowed to live in the wild, and you can see a bit of the restored Slampe. The view is particularly interesting during flooding season, when the surrounding wetlands become saturated. This is a location for bird-watching.

1.2 km to the south of the centre of Ģipka and on the side of the Jūrmala-Kolka road (P131), this church makes it hard to believe that the rock church was built very recently – after 1992, because it was burned down during the Soviet occupation in 1979. Ironically, the Dundaga forestry fire safety post was housed in the steeple of the church after World War II. The ornate altar and organ were destroyed in the fire, but the altar painting, “Christ on the Cross,” was saved. The church is now once again open for business. |

This is a view worth a journey from a distance. This is an impressive terrain for Latvia, and here you will see as far as the Hanja highlands of Estonia, where the Great Munameģis Hill – the highest surface in the Baltic States – can be found.

The old wooden tower at this site was torn down and replaced with the one that is there now. The restored tower offers one of the loveliest views in Eastern Latvia – one of the eight curves of the Daugava. This is the Rozališki curve. Here you will get a whole new sense of the Daugava River and its mighty valley in a place where the waters of a hydroelectric plant bubble away in our present day and age. It is claimed that the scene that is seen on the 10 lats note is based on the view which can be seen to the West from the tower. |
