The Krāču hills (Krāckalni) are a series of
wavy hillocks dating back to the Litorine Sea.
There is a lovely view of Lake Lilijas from here.
Opposite the lake, on the eastern side of the
road, are dolomite stairs which lead to a
monument dedicated to 90 Latvian riflemen who
lost their lives in battles in 1917 in the region.

Tā celta ~ 1900. g. vietā, kur savienojas trīs kuģu ceļi no Klaipēdas, Nidas un Ventes raga (Ventės ragas). No šejienes paveras fantastisks skats un Nagļu dabas rezervāta iespaidīgajām kāpām. |

Kale is a traditional wooden sailing ship for trawling nets on Lake Võrtsjärv, but its graceful appearance with two triangular sails often inspired pleasure trips too. Võrtsjärve Foundation supported the building of the ship Paula, completed in 2005 and Liisu in 2009. Trips aboard a kaleship are a genuinely memorable experience. |

This is one of the most outstanding areas in the entire Baltic States with active underground waterways which still, to this very day, dissolve local gypsum rock. Parts of the area collapse regularly, and there are legends about all of this. Underwater rivers, streams, the so-called Karvės (Cow) cave, etc., can be seen in the area.

The castle was commissioned by Baron Alexander von Fittinghof and built between 1859 and 1863 in the late Tudor Neo-Gothic style. It is one of the most important monuments to this style in Latvia and has an ornate limestone façade. The 7th Sigulda Infantry Brigade was housed in the castle from 1921 until 1940. Today it is home to the Alūksne Museum with a permanent exhibition and an “environmental labyrinth.” One of the most unusual exhibits is a set of fluorescent minerals that can be viewed under lights with various spectrums. |

This park is in a region of hillocks in the Karula highlands, and Lake Ähijärve is at its centre. The cooperative has its own shop in Pilsetas laukums 7A, Kuldiga, where it is possible to purchase all the products and goods produced by members of the cooperative. The store also offers seasonal delicacies and regular promotions, offering customers a wide and varied range of home-grown and home-made products. |

The word “Soomaa” means “land of the swamps” in Estonian. There are several major swamps in this area, along with rivers, lowland meadows, wetland forests, and other biotopes that are of key importance in terms of the diversity of species. Major floods occur here in the spring, which is known by locals as the “fifth season''. The fifth season is the best time to explore the landscape of Soomaa. |

The Pape airfield was used for arms training in Soviet times, with bombs being dropped on specific targets. The facility is owned by the regional local government and is not used. There are sunken ships and targets in the sea.

The craftsman produces wooden dishware and other products, making use of many local species of trees. The technique is unusual and reveals the specific texture of timber. The artist has masterfully integrated amber, bone and animal horn in his dishware. He also engraves spoons with ethnographic signs. You can commission or purchase products from the master craftsman, who also restores wooden furniture. |
