The farm is located in the north-west of Latvia, which was historically inhabited by Livonians and, nowadays, is often called the Livonian coast. Farm is one of the first homes in Kolka, 1.2 km from Kolkasrags, the furthest northern point of Courland separating the Baltic Sea from the Gulf of Riga. The owner of the farm demonstrates the way in which the traditional Northern Kurzeme dessert that is a carrot bun and is known as a "sklandrausis" is prepared. Sklandrausis is registered in the EU food quality scheme as a product with traditional speciality guaranteed. Hikers can take a tour to see the industrial history of Kolka, complete with theatrical elements and tasting of Latvia’s best sprats. Kaltene is home to a memorial house that has been set up in honour of Andris Kārkliņš, who was known as the first internationally recognised flamenco guitarist of Latvian origin. Known as Andres El Leton, he was a composer, poet, writer and photographer. Visitors will learn all about the artist’s life and work via audio and video recordings. Up on the second floor of the building is a small creative workshop (SIA “Rakstu Raksti,” where people produce applied arts items such as folk costumes, linen products, accessories, souvenirs, etc. They sew apparel and home textiles from linen and other natural materials. The workshop has floristics specialists, and it accepts orders on sewn, knit and crocheted products. Master classes are also available. Visitors will enjoy local produced foodstuffs from the Roja Administrative District (fish, wine, cheese, conserves, jams, teas, etc.). Handicrafts and souvenirs are available for purchase. |

This market sells produces from local farmers and home manufacturers who offer traditional and seasonal food which they grow and prepare themselves. You can purchase vegetables, fruit, fresh and smoked meat, cheese, bread, country tortes, homemade wine and various household and gardening objects. |

This well-appointed campsite is on the shore of Lake Usma and in a lovely and neat forested area. Come and relax in heated huts which accommodate six people with all modern conveniences. The guesthouse has a fireplace hall, a sauna, and four rooms to spend the night in. You can take a countryside sauna and rent a jacuzzi. The venue has a volleyball court and a basketball hoop. You can rent rowboats, motorboats, canoes, catamarans and SUP boards. A ferry called “Ņiprais” offers rides around Lake Usma. There’s a playground for children, good places for tents, and very good places for fishing, berry-picking and mushroom hunting. The campsite is in an advantageous place in that several towns in Kurzeme are nearby. |

Tourists can learn about the history of the estate and the brewing of beer, beginning with raw materials and ending with finished products. The visit is enriched by tastings of live beer and stories about Latvia’s traditional holiday beverage. Alongside the brewery is a store which sells live beer, homemade goodies and selected souvenirs. The “Valmiermuižas alus virtuve” saloon popularises Latvian beers and uses beer in various dishes. A modern approach to homemade products is used to prepare foods and beer-based snacks. There is a beer garden during the summer, and the saloon merges traditional things with modern ones. Latvian cuisine: Smoked pork, filet of pike from Lake Burtnieks, green pea mash, with loganberries, quince, pumpkin birch juice and mushroom sauce as accompaniments. The wooden building was erected in the late 19th century and features a museum which demonstrates the way in which people lived more than 100 years ago. Exhibits include household objects, the Rucava folk costume, socks and decorated mittens. Various events involving discussions, singing, games, dancing and weaving are organised, as are cultural and educational programmes such as “Evening Activities” and “A Rucava Banquet” with local foods from lower Kurzeme. The “Priedītes” Mini Zoo farm is in the Limbaži Administrative District and offers visitors a chance to get close to farm animals. Learn all about each kind of animal and its habits. A garden of feelings, where peonies smell, birds sing and the heart rejoices! About 730 peonies of different varieties grow in the garden of "Romju pojenes", which will delight every visitor with their variety of scents, colors and shapes. A lovely and quiet family farm 12 km from Valmiera offers Latvian sauna rituals, various spa procedures, and massages (classical, medicinal, honey-based, etc.). Listen to relaxing music during the procedures, after which you will be offered ecologically pure herbal teas from herbs which have been collected near the farm. There is a heated outdoor jacuzzi along with a swing-set, a playground for children, as well as a series of creative workshops in accordance with the season of the year. |

This farm was one of the first to grow large-berry cranberries and blackberries in Latvia (since 1997). The swamp used to be used for peat moss extraction, but today it is home to cranberry, blackberry, raspberry and strawberry fields. You can pick, taste and purchase berries and take a tour. We also recommend a visit to the Very Berry factory (approximately 3 km away in Dārzciems), where juices, syrups and beverages are manufactured. |

The “Rozītes” rose garden is found in the Sēme Parish in Kurzeme, and it covers a bit less than 3 hectares. There are more than 3,000 rose plants in the garden with 300 different varieties. There are also perennials and rare trees in the garden. Visitors will enjoy three lovely ponds which have fish in them, but they are meant more for beauty and relaxation. You can watch the fish from the terrace, walk across a flower island, and go to our amphitheatre to listen to relaxing music. On a hot summer day, visit the “water rock” to hear the bubbling sound of the surrounding water. Daila and Bruno Trubiņš will be happy to give you a tour of the garden and tell you all about the plants and how to care for them. You can purchase rose and perennial plants. Each June we organise a Rose Festival with an extensive programme for adults and children alike. Visitors are welcome to taste rose jam and drinks made of rose petals. We can host seminars, concerts, weddings and photo sessions. The garden is open from May until the end of September, and we particularly welcome visitors when the flowers are in full bloom.
