There is no need to enter the bog to see it, there are good views from the highway Ventspils – Riga (77 km, bus stop “Pagrieziens uz Elkskeni”). The main value of restricted area is chalky fen bog with brown bog-rush (greatest habitat finding in Latvia). Be careful when stopping on the highway – mind the traffic! A couple of kilometers towards Riga, on the right side of the highway, there is sign to Grizu Velna kresls ( Grizu Devil Chair) which is an attractive boulder (protected).

Neliela apdzīvota un ainaviska vieta plašajā Skrobļa (Skroblus) strauta ielejā. Ciema austrumu pusē atrodas Lietuvas mērogā unikāls objekts – klēts - rija, kur no 1929. g. vietējie cilvēki uzveda un skatījās lauku teātra izrādes. 72 types of wild rhododendrons with 193 different species This is the only specialised rhododendron nursery in the Baltic States. Specialists there work on different kinds of rhododendrons, seeking to produce decorative and winter-resistant types of the flower. The nursery also sells plants. In the facility’s pine forest, which covers 11.8 hectares, you can see a large collection of rhododendrons from all over the world. There are 64 winter-resistant types of rhododendrons at “Babīte,” including “Alma Mater,” “Academia Scientiarum,” “Emeritus,” “Eduards Smiļģis,” “Dita Krenberga,” and others (these were developed by Rihards Kondratovičs). All of these are appropriate for Northern Europe.

Here you will learn about home-based manufacturers, farms, companies and others in Kurzeme that produce various dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, ice cream, etc.  Begin in Tukums, which offers lots of interesting foods and beverages.  Then cross the ancient Abava River valley, which is one of the most beautiful river valleys in Latvia.  The route leads to Wine Hill in Sabile and then Talsi, the “city of nine hillocks.”  Further on you will find Dundaga and its legendary castle, pass through large and lonely forests on your way to Ventspils, and then continue along the shore of the Baltic sea to Medze.  From there, travel back into the centre of Kurzeme, through Aizpute and Kazdanga, which is known for its own castle.  Visit Latvia’s first shiitake mushroom farm at Garīkas, the Milk Estate and the Milk Museum.  Further on will be Saldus with its tasty treats, then Džūkste, and then back to Tukums, where we started.

Der Park Renavas (begründet im 19. Jh.) ist einer der Parks zum Repräsentieren, der jedoch seine ursprüngliche, naturnahe Form gut erhalten hat. In dem Parkfragment unterhalb des Schlosses sind bis heute viele exotische Bäume erhalten. Im nördlichen Teil des Parks und im Waldpark herrschen Ahorn, Linde, Esche, Fichte, Eiche u.a. vor.

Prunkstück des Parks ist die mächtigste Fichte in Litauen mit einem Durchmesser von 1,2 Meter, ebenso eine Linde, aus deren umgefallenen ursprünglichen Stamm sechs Äste zu neuen, unabhängigen Stämmen erwachsen sind. Der Eingang zum Park ist als Pergola mit Kletterpflanzen ausgeführt.

These are beautiful and impressive views, particularly early in the morning, of the historical locations of Alūksne. Go to Templis Hill, the Aleksandrs Pavilion, the obelisk which commemorates Heinrich von Fittinghoff, and the memorial to soldiers of the No. 7 Sigulda Brigade for good views. The Templis Hill, the castle ruins, the estate and the pavilions are arhitectural monuments.

The farm "Kronīši" is located in Viļķenes Parish, Limbažu County. The farm grows organic vegetables that are processed into various home preserves. The tower is at the western end of the Seda swamp, accessed from the side of Jērcēni. Transport is limited here. The tower is in the area of the swamp where peat moss is extracted. Vainova Old-Believers Prayer House was built in 1980 replacing the previous church that was burnt by lightening. Initially, the Prayer House was one of the biggest churches in Latgale (for 2 000 people). The congregation of the church exists since the 18th century.
