The church was opened in 1651 after half a century of sometimes interrupted construction.  It was fully rebuilt and took on its current appearance in 1876.  The church contains one of the most important church objects in Latvia – the oldest pulpit in the country (1590).  It was designed in the style of Mannerism.  The church also has a bell from a wrecked chapel of the local knighthood.  The bell was manufacture in 1450 and was installed at the church in the 19th century.  It is the oldest church bell in Latvia.  The German painter F. Wolff painted the altar painting, “Christ on the Cross,” and it, along with the altar, have recently been restored.

The mansion of Uue-Varbla Manor houses the local history museum which presents local life from the early 20th C and history of Varbla municipality. There is a handicraft workshop in the museum, while old tools and machinery are exhibited in the granary. The mansion in early Classicist style from 1797 is an attraction in itself. Traditional handicraft fairs are held in the grounds in July every summer.

The MIKO bakery bakes more than 100 types of products according to its special recipes, including cakes, pies, eclairs, and biscuits.

Take a train from Riga to Cēsis and stay in the very heart of this chaming town. It is one of the most attractive Latvian provincial towns with a medieval Livonian Order Castle, a New Castle containing an excellent regional history museum and creative workshops, a charming Old Town with St. John's Church and several cosy cafes and restaurants with live music at weekends.
There are two downhill skiing centres, Žagarkalns and Ozolkalns at the town suburbs, with well stocked equipment hire, snow machines, skiing slopes (the longest 500 m), a snowboard park, nursery slopes for beginners and kids, trained instructors, first aid post and cafes.

The office of photographer Mārtiņš Buclers was recently found at the Sauka Unity House where the Sauka trade school was located. In 2010, the exhibition was moved to the Sauka Parish Council in Lone. Mārtiņš Buclers (1866-1944) was a founding father of photography in Latvia. He established the first company in the country which produced photo film and paper. The exhibits are of particular interest now that we are in the digital photo era. The Sauka Unity House is closed and can only be viewed from the outside, but alongside it is a memorial stone dedicated to Buclers, as well as a monument commemorating the 150^th anniversary of photography.

This is the only factory in Latvia that offers the full processing of wool, and it has been open since the late 19th century.  There is a workshop in Dundaga where woollen blankets and pillows are sewn.

Birch juice syrup with reverse osmosis is obtained. Technologically impressive view of 1.5 tons of water squeezed out of birch sap per hour. Here, reverse osmosis equipment can press 95% of pure water from birch sap. As a result, the sugar content of the remaining birch sap concentrate reaches 33% Brix. The concentrate is frozen and sold.

This farm is an apiary, with hives of bees gathering honey. The farm has won prizes for its products. You can take a tour and learn about the lives of bees and beekeeping products, make your own wax candles, or attend educational seminars.
