The project goal is to promote conservation and renovation of the old horticultural plant cultivars and their products through involvement of the horticultural heritage gardens in tourism. During the project, experts from research institutes and museums will provide consultations on advantages of historical cultivars and gardening to those garden owners interested to open their gardens for tourists. Latvian and Lithuanian countryside tourism organisations will help them to shape the garden tourism product, will create a heritage garden tour and take care for marketing to promote the heritage gardens and old cultivars.
1. Heritage garden touring route and a map for cycling and driving tourists.
2. Two brochures, a booklet and information sheets to promote heritage gardens and sustainable gardening in Latvia and Lithuania.
3. Improved infrastructure and development of a heritage cultivar garden in Rundāle castle and Dobele institute of horticulture.
4. Latvian and Lithuanian horticulture institutes will produce attractive and educational information on historical fruit, vegetable and flower collections.
The total budget of this project is 830 733 Eur, out of them funding of European Regional Development Fund is 706 123 Eur.
