Kopējais takas garums ir 3.5 km, tā sākas netālu no Engures Ornitoloģisko pētījumu centra, līkumo caur kalcifilajiem purviem un mežam putnu novērošanas torņa virzienā, un aizvijas tālāk gar atjaunoto ezera piekrastes pļavu, kurā mīt govis un zirgi. Takas sākumā novietotajā informācijas zīmē attēlotas ne tikai apkārtnē sastopamās orhidejas. Tur iespējams gūt daudzpusīgu informāciju arī par citām interesantām Engures ezera dabas parka augu sugām.

In mid-summer, the farm features the beautiful blooms of rapeseed and flax. A special facility for pressing rapeseed and flax seed oil is on site. You can watch the oil pressing process and purchase some of the resulting oil.

This route offers most unusual views. Seda is the only town in Latvia with Soviet-era planning from the middle of the last century, featuring a central square and streets stretching from it in a star pattern. The architectural style of apartment and public buildings is rather exotic. The Seda Swamp yielded peat moss during the first period of Latvia’s independence and is one of the largest industrial and environmental territories of its kind in Latvia and the Baltic States. Former peat fields have partly become flooded and are overgrown with reeds, thus creating an outstanding environment for nesting water birds and migrating birds which rest at the swamp. The creamery or clock tower (so known because a clock was installed in the round roof window of the structure) is near the gate to the Naukšēni Estate. The eight-corner brick building has a domed roof that is covered with tin. The clock tower has two floors. The second is easily ventilated because of small windows on all sides of the building. The creamery is seen in a picture drawn by J.K. Brotze around 1800. It suggests that the building has not lost its initial shape even today. The tower deteriorated during the Soviet era, when a barn was attached to it and a large gate opening was broken into it. In 2002, the tower was renovated (architect Inese Maurāne). The interior preserves the historical brick floor and the stairs to the second floor. Historical objects are displayed in the creamery, and today it is one of the main tourist attractions for the Naukšēni Estate. |

This 368 metre structure is the highest television tower in the European Union. Its viewing area, which is at a height of 97 metres, is the highest publicly available viewing area in Latvia. The location offers a fantastic view of Rīga and Old Rīga to Pārdaugava, the Bay of Rīga and Sigulda – a radius of at least 50 kilometres.

The Šilute Estate is often described on the basis of its last owner, Hugo Scheu, who bought the estate in 1889. He restored the estate's buildings and territory, also installing two parks, one for the estate, and the other one known as the "raven forest." Alongside the estate is an English-type park with strolling trails. The park is used by local residents and is on both sides of the curvy Scheu River, with the banks connected by pedestrian bridges. He park stretches to an old railroad bridge and has approximately 150 types of plants, including 40 types of trees and shrubs. |

This restricted area is on the eastern shore of Lake Ķīšezers, and of the greatest importance here are the habitats – flood-land and other meadows, dunes, the aquatorium of Lake Ķīšezers, the shoreline, forests of oak, black alder and other trees, and many huge oak trees in the restricted area and beyond its borders. The Bulduri castle hill, which is the most distinct ancient castle hill in Rīga, is on the southern end of the Lieupsala peninsula. On the border of the restricted area is an affiliate of the Latvian Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, which is known as “Vārnas”.

Latvia’s newest national park (2007) is in the “land of the blue lakes” – the region of Latgale. One of the goals of establishing a national park was to preserve the natural treasures of the region. Lake Rāzna, which is the second largest in Latvia, is there, as is Lake Ežezers, which has more island than any other lake in Latvia. There are other bodies of water, as well as typical landscapes of hillocks and a unique cultural environment. One of the most popular destinations in the park is Mākoņkalns Hill, which offers a lovely view of Lake Rāzna. Administrators of the newly established park are working on the tourist infrastructure – trails, routes, etc. Perhaps visitors would be advised to postpone their trip to the Rāzna National Park for awhile. |
