Located in the south-eastern part of Piedruja and on the banks of the Daugava River, the rock can be accessed via the local path or a local land road. The rock was sculpted by Vilnis Titāns, who engraved the name of the Daugava River in seven languages – Latvian, Livonian, Estonian, Polish, Russian, German and Finnish. Opposite the rock is Druja, which is in Belarus, as well as a large island that splits the river in two. A temporary permit is needed to visit Piedruja. |

Этот берег исторически населяли ливы, рыбацкие поселки которых являются значимой культурной средой одного из самых малых национальных меньшинств в мире. Маршрут на участке от Мазирбе до Колки ведет по старой прибрежной дороге, которая петляет через ливские поселки – Кошрагс, Питрагс, Саунагс и Вайде. Национальный парк «Слитере» – одна из наиболее флорестически богатых территорий Латвии, а мыс Колка – одно из популярнейших мест для наблюдения за птицами во время их миграции. The oldest elements of the Oleri Estate date back to the 17th century. Initially there was a wooden mansion with an ancillary building. The new centre was built in the late 18th century in the style of Early Classicism. After agrarian reforms, the mansion housed an elementary school, and during the Soviet occupation and until the 1970s it was a school for children with mental disorders. The mansion suffered in a fire in 2000, after which it was restored. A local organisation was of great importance in this regard. The mansion is known for its Classicist paintings, with a unique “Painting Gallery.” The mansion is surrounded by a lovely park. The Oleri Estate is known for hosting chamber music concerts. The local Oleri swamp has a wooden pathway and a little viewing tower. |

The Neļķes cliffs are in Skaņākalns Park, and they offer the most beautiful view of the Salaka River valley, with its sandstone cliffs and peaceful river. There are good views from the “devil’s pulpit.” It’s worth visiting the Skaņamkalns Hill to check out the views from the famous echo cliff. This is part of the ZBR.

The saloon is at the edge of the Murjāņi-Limbaži road (P9) and alongside the Igate Castle. It is built on the foundations of a former windmill, and the wheel of the mill has been preserved. The old watermill is still hard at work and is used to mill grain for traditional porridge and buns. The saloon works with local farmers. Latvian cuisine: Mushroom soup, barley porridge with meat, barley buns, grit sausage with lingonberry sauce, crepes with jam, potato pancakes, fried plaice or pike, stacked rye bread.
