The old wooden tower at this site was torn down and replaced with the one that is there now. The restored tower offers one of the loveliest views in Eastern Latvia – one of the eight curves of the Daugava. This is the Rozališki curve. Here you will get a whole new sense of the Daugava River and its mighty valley in a place where the waters of a hydroelectric plant bubble away in our present day and age. It is claimed that the scene that is seen on the 10 lats note is based on the view which can be seen to the West from the tower. |

The farm "Veckūkuri" in Jērcēni parish of Strenči district is included in the top of the most productive herds in Latvia. "Veckūri" is a milk processor that produces non-traditional dairy products from the milk obtained on its farm. The farm is also ranked among the companies that have been awarded the State Export Council awards “Latvian Export Product 2015”. |

The monument is in the Bērtuļi cemetery and has a brass plaque that reads “With deep thanks to fallen heroes of the Latvian people. The 10th Rūjiena Vanagi district.” On the other side of the monument, the words “God, Fatherland, Nation” are engraved. The monument was restored in 1989. |

The Nemuna River divides up into two large streams at its estuary at Kuršių Marios, and this has established the Rusnė Island. This is a unique environmental territory with wetlands, streams, ancient rivers, lagoon lakes and flood plains which are important places for birds to nest and rest during migration season. Vast tracts of this territory are flooded each spring. The park includes the territory to the N and W of Rusne (lagoons, swamps, fishing ponds, Kuršių Marios).

The “Kukaburra” café is located on the 115th km of the Riga-Veclaicene highway (A2). It is possible to see the Bread museum. Guests can take part in baking rye bread every weekend. The café has a Latvian interior and serves products from local farmers and home-based producers of ingredients. Latvian cuisine: Chicken liver salad, lamb soup, dumpling soup, cold soup, baked catfish, sautéed pork, potato pancakes, pancakes with jam cottage cheese buns, stacked rye bread. This is one of the most impressive and extensive natural structures of its kind in Latvia in terms of appearance and landscape. The ice age left behind this wall-like terrain, which is up to 27 metres high and at the top of which the Rīga-Ērgļi road has been built. The Great Kangari hills offer a view of the Great Kangars lake and the Great Kangari swamps and ponds. The Ķoderi castle hill, also known as the “Big Man’s Bed” is found here. The restricted area was established to protect the structure and its related biotopes and plants.

This section of the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route is suitable to hardy hikers who like to travel across uninhabited places. In many places, reeds, floodplains with pastures and wetlands stretch across the Estonian seacoast, which is why the itinerary often leads you along forest and country roads. In the second half of summer you can pick the mushrooms and berries in the coastal forests. Pärnu is a popular resort city with many cafés, live music, SPAs, hotels and a beautiful Old Town. |

Blessed Our Lady’s Birth Roman Catholic Church of Kaunata
was rebuilt in 1850 by Zuzanna Druva after the wooden building was
burned down. The church has a fabric icon „St. Elizabeth is visited by Mary”.

The space is on the second floor of the Jūrkalne library, featuring traditional objects from Jūrkalne and the Suiti people, as well as several looms where locals organise creative workshops. Contact the chamber in advance to arrange for a guide who will tell you all about the culture and traditions of the Suiti and present a film about them. |

Vilsandi bāka sāka darboties 1809. g. Ja uzmanīgi palūkojas uz torņa, labi redzams, ka tas ir vairākas reizes paaugstināts. Tagadējās bākas augstums ir 37 m, bet gaismas elements atrodas 40 metrus virs jūras līmeņa. Bāka ar apkārtējām ēkām ir apskatāma tikai no ārpuses. Ja pa Vilsandi arhipelāgu ceļo ar jūras laivu vai citu peldlīdzekli, tad bāka kalpo kā ļoti labs orientieris daudzo salu, līču un pussalu labirintā. No bākas redzama jūras krastā uzceltā glābšanas stacija. Pateicoties tai, Vilsandi ūdeņos izglābti 29 cilvēki, 2 suņi un 1 kaķis. Tā stāsta vietējie. |

Already in the 10th century, an ancient village was located at the Sabile hill fort. After the division of Course land, Sabile was won by the Livonian Order, which built a stone castle (not preserved) here. Sabile is first time mentioned in written sources in 1253. During the 15th century an urban area started to develop at the castle. Town right was awarded to Sabile in 1917. Today Sabile is a small town, surrounded by many notable monuments. Roma culture is an integral part of Sabile and therefore, Sabile is also known as the Latvian capital city of Roma. Sabile has long been known for its wine-growing and oenological traditions, which have been reborn and enjoyable during the Sabile wine festival. |

The lady of the house greets visitors in a folk costume, offering an educational programme in the local Žemaiši language. She talks about herbal teas and how to find the herbs and brew them. Along with the tea, the lady offers homemade cheese, bread, pierogi and honey. The guesthouse is on the banks of Lake Beržoris, not far from Lake Platelys. The Žemaitija National Park is nearby and easily reached on foot, by bike, by boat or by car. |
