Here you will learn about home-based manufacturers, farms, companies and others in Kurzeme that produce various dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, ice cream, etc.  Begin in Tukums, which offers lots of interesting foods and beverages.  Then cross the ancient Abava River valley, which is one of the most beautiful river valleys in Latvia.  The route leads to Wine Hill in Sabile and then Talsi, the “city of nine hillocks.”  Further on you will find Dundaga and its legendary castle, pass through large and lonely forests on your way to Ventspils, and then continue along the shore of the Baltic sea to Medze.  From there, travel back into the centre of Kurzeme, through Aizpute and Kazdanga, which is known for its own castle.  Visit Latvia’s first shiitake mushroom farm at Garīkas, the Milk Estate and the Milk Museum.  Further on will be Saldus with its tasty treats, then Džūkste, and then back to Tukums, where we started.

The Krustkalni Nature Reserve was established in 1977, and the diversity of plants in the region is based both on the terrain – the Madona-Trepe embankment, a series of hillocks with low areas among them, swamps and small lakes – and on the biotope – natural meadows, forest glades, places where underground streams bubble up to the surface, and vast areas of forest with very old stands of trees. Some 800 types of plants have been defined in the reserve. It can be toured only in the company of a guide from reserve headquarters, and one must apply in advance. Visitors can visit the Krāku streams, Lake Svēte-Dreimaņi, and other sites.

Atrodas Taurenē, Gaujas labajā krastā. Muižas apbūve, kurā ietilpst pils (19. gs. 80. gadi, arhitekts – R. G. Šmēlings, historisma un neoklasicisma stils), senie alus pagrabi, klēts, vecā pils un parks, veidojies 19. - 20. gs. Šobrīd muižas pilī atrodas Taurenes pagasta pārvalde un kultūras nams. Muižas kompleksā ietilpst ēka, kurā atrodas Vecpiebalgas novada tūrisma informācijas punkts un Taurenes novadpētniecības ekspozīcija (senajā ledus pagrabā). Parkā (ziemeļos no pils) uzmeklējams piemiņas akmens, kas veltīts komunistiskā terora upuriem. Pie Nēķena muižas sākās 0,4 km garā Cieres dabas taka, kas iepazīstina ar Gaujas krastu mitrājiem.

The island of 7.5 km2 in Lake Peipsi is largely inhabited by Russian-speaking Old Believers who have broadly retained their old traditions through time. Traditional trades are fishing and growing vegetables, mainly onion.

The area is in the centre of the Teirumnīki swamp, alongside a lake of the same name. There is a wooden footpath that crosses the swamp (800 metres). This is an excellent opportunity to study a high swamp, a swamp lake, and the surrounding environment.

This area was established to protect the cultural and lake-related landscapes of the central section of the Vidzeme highlands, with Lake Alauksts, Lake Inesis, Lake Tauns, etc., with their species and biotopes.  There are many important cultural objects in this territory – the Vecpiebalga Lutheran Church, the Vecpiebalga castle ruins, the Vecpiebalga baronial estate, as well as locations where several distinguished figures from the Latvian world of culture have lived and worked.  Memorial museums have been established to commemorate them.  The lakes are great for fishing, and cross-country competitions are traditionally held in the area of Lake Alauksts during the winter.  The Sproģi nature reserve has been established on the islands and peninsula of Lake Inesis.

Located on an island in Lake Dviragio, the Salu Estate and its park, when viewed from above, are reminiscent of the boundaries of Lithuania.  The park to the east of the estate is a mixed-type park and is one of the oldest ones in Lithuania.  Back in the day, it was a forest park where trees were never cut down.  The park featured maple, linden, elm, aspen and other local trees, and they are now around 200 years old.  A winding path links the alley to a park trail by the lake.  The various plants and fragments of alleys have survived to the present day.

Ungurmuižas  iekštelpās ir grezni zīmējumi (grenadieri, ziedu motīvi, zīmētas tapetes, drapēri, ainas no barona karagājieniem un ceļojumiem) kuru autors ir Limbažu gleznotājs Georgs Dītrihs Hinšs. Ungurmuižā par seno auru rūpējas katrs gleznojums, zīmējums un katrs nostūris.
