One of the largest karst areas in Estonia is found here. The unique Witch’s well is one of the most interesting parts of this area. During spring floods (not every year, and for only a short period of time), the well erupts with underground river waters to create an unusually powerful karst stream that can pump out as much as 100 litres per hour.

Near Karva along the old Alūksne-Ape road, the monument was unveiled on November 12, 1937. It was designed by the architect Verners Vitands and contains the text “Soldiers from the Valmiera Brigade who fell during Latvia’s liberation battles in 1919; I rested my head on the moss and defended my fatherland.” The monument was torn down in 1975 and restored in 1944. |

Tā virsotnē uzcelta Opekalna luterāņu baznīca (1774—1779), kas ir visaugstāk virs jūras līmeņa novietotais dievnams Latvijā. Opekalna ciemā dzimis leģendārais Dziesmu svētku virsdiriģents Haralds Mednis. |

Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Nautrēni (Rogovka). The construction
works of the brick church lasted from 1901 till 1914. It is an example of Romantesque style. The
organ was bought in 1939; it is a national cultural monument.

Dzeltenais aplis 2 km, zilais aplis – 7 km, sarkanais aplis – 15 km. Maršrutus var veikt arī ar velosipēdu, taču braucot ar velo, atsevišķi posmi var būt grūti izbraucami smilšu dēļ. Pie upes ierīkotas vairākas atpūtas vietas ar soliem, galdiem, labierīcībām, šūpolēm, vingrošanas konstrukcijām, atkritumu urnām, kā arī ugunskura un telšu vietām. Pie atpūtas vietām Žocenē un Rojā ir izveidotas arī laivu piestātnes. Takas sākumā upes krastā labiekārtota vieta, kur upē ietek Rojas avots, ko kā ūdensņemšanas vietu iecienījuši vietējie iedzīvotāji. |

The territory is established in order to protect the dunes and the seashore habitats. There are beautiful beaches and wooded dunes, and the paved Klaipēda–Palanga bikeway trails through the park, which is worth travelling at full length. |

The pub is located in a wooden log building and situated in the suburbs of Sigulda, allowing one to feel the Latvian spirit in the interior and enjoy Latvian-style dishes. The pub has maintained the traditions and quality of Latvian cuisine. Latvian cuisine: Sauerkraut soup, filet of pike-perch, pike cakes, pork tongue, pork ribs, homemade steak haché, potato pancakes, stacked rye bread, rye bread baked in honey, baked ap.ple, homemade ice cream. Special foods: “Steak a la Bucefāls,” “Ice cream a la Bucefāls”.

From Riga the tour goes along the right bank of the river Daugava and crosses it over at Plavinas HES to Salaspils. Visit National Botanic Garden then continue along the left bank of Daugava. On the route there is a model of ancient wooden castle where you can walk about. . Then visit the Kingdom of Rabbits where their homes are made like a little castles too. Time to taste some wonderful home-made ice-cream at Skriveri and visit legendary Koknese castle ruins park. Next day visit ethnographic working farmstead where you can see wild horses and cows as well as various waterbirds in the pond. Then the route goes to private mini zoo "Ezerlejas" with some exotic animals, visit ceramics factory where you can see how the hand-made clay products are made from the beginning to the end, walk around Rauna medieval castles ruins. Cesis town with mighty medieval castle and pretty old town is the next on the route. At Ligatne walk nature trails where you can see local wild animals. At Sigulda kids would love to visit "Tarzans" adventure centre. There is also Olympic bobsled centre and two medieval castles located. From Sigulda the route goes towards the coast with a stop at elegant Birini Manor with large park where you can try horse ridding. Then you are at the sandy beach of Saulkrasti. Before returning to Riga you can visit a farm with goats and ponies to taste goats products and cuddle animals. |

The largest town in the region dates back to the 19th century, when three local fishing villages – Neibāde, Pēterupe and Katrīnbāde – became a popular location for leisure and swimming. This led to the construction of many summer homes, and the development of the spa was facilitated by the opening of a rail line between Rīga and Saulkrasti in 1905. New spas and restaurants were opened, and the spa infrastructure was developed. During the summer there were various entertainments, including balls and concerts featuring orchestras from Rīga. Also facilitating the development of the spa was a road and railroad line between Rīga and Saulkrasti that were installed during the 1930s. During the Soviet occupation, leisure homes, sanatoriums and new summer homes were built in Saulkrasti, which was given the status of a city. Today Saulkrasti is attractive because of its white sand beach, as well as various annual events, the Saulriets trail, the White Dune, the unique bicycle museum, Sea Park, the “Centrs” swimming facility, Sun Square, etc. |

The farm specialises in goat farming and goat cheese. Tours are available with tastings and purchase of products. The herd has some 150 goats, and visitors can taste and buy goat cheese. The farm is certified as a biological farm that focuses on environmental health. |

Nature restricted area surrounds Tasu Lake and swampy shores of it in a narrow band. The territory was established to protect rare nesting and migratory birds. The territory is easily overseen from the narrow gravel roads all around the area not entering the actual protected area. Tasu Manor house is located to the South of nature restricted area.
