The Lašu castle hill is 0.2 km from the Vecumnieki-Ilūkste road at Laši. It is an ancient Selonian castle hill, and it was populated between the 1st millennium BC and the 10th or 12th century. Very little remains of the old Veclaši (Tiesenhausen) Estate, which had an impressive mansion designed in the Neo-Gothic style in the late 19th century. What remains are an ancillary building, the foundations of the mansion, fragments of the gates, and a park. Until 1920, the estate belonged to the Pshezdzetski dynasty, and before that it was owned by the Tiesenhausen and Fittinghoff dynasties. Before visiting the location, look for photographs of the old mansion on the Internet. Sadly, the important cultural monument has not experienced any major improvements over the past 20 years.

The narrow gauge rail line between Alūksne and Gulbene has tracks that are 750 mm wide and was once part of a rail line between Stukmaņi and Valka. Today it is the only passenger train on a narrow gauge railroad in Latvia, offering services every day. The Alūksne station was opened in 1903, and 33 km line with 10 stations and other stop scan be covered in approximately 90 minutes. A festival is held each year -- one that is very popular among fans of small trams. |

The café is located in the centre of Talsi, near Church Square, not far from Talsi lake. Another area where the manifestations water-soluble lime in the earth can be found. As the lime dissolves, there are empty areas underground which eventually collapse. To the East of Skaistkalne is a leisure area where dry and full holes of various sizes can be found.

This institution offers a look at characteristic rituals that relate to environmental transformation, as well as at ancient Baltic faiths. Family and calendar celebrations are held here, including weddings, hen parties, consecration, mid-winter activities, etc. Some of these are pagan festivals. The educational programmes are meant for adults. |

Located in the Mežotne Castle, the saloon offers fine and tasty dishes and beverages. Tours of the ornate castle are available, and the location has one of the loveliest English-style landscape parks in Latvia. Latvian cuisine: Potato pancakes, rolled marinated herring, trout with potatoes in their jackets, blood sausage with lingonberry sauce, grey peas with bacon, stacked rye bread with cranberry jam and whipped cream. In 1615, Courlandian Duke Friedrich Kettler (1569-1642) allowed Bauska to build a new city hall. At the beginning of the 17th century, Market Square in Bauska featured the largest city hall in the entire duchy. A lack of money led to the dismantling of the hall’s tower in 1852 and its second floor in 1871. A new city hall was built in 2011, and now Bauska can be proud of a new and outstanding tourist destination that can also be entered. The restored city hall offers a chance for people to weigh themselves and measure their height with old-time measurements. Each person who does so receives a certificate to attest to his or her height and weight. |

A farm and holiday house in the hilly landscape of Vidzeme, Cēsis 35 km. The hosts produce marmalade sweets from organically certified rye bread and other products, bake rye tin loaves, and make rye gingerbread dough, as well as the bread drink kvass. They also make jewellery and handicrafts. Produce can be purchased. |

In the southern part of Līvāni, where Zemgales Street ends at the Daugava River, there is a fairly unusual and exotic form of transportation – one of three river crossings in Latvia. Unlike the one in Līgatne, this one is operated by a motor, not the flow of the river. It involves a cable across the river, and it is based on Soviet military pontoons that were used to build pontoon bridges for tanks. The crossing point was established by its owners. |

The tower is on the western shore of the lake, next to the dam and the Zvidze canal. From here you will see the overgrowth north-western part of the lake, Akmeņsala Island, and a wide area of open water. The third is on the southern shore of the lake, by the dam and the Īdeņa canal. Here you will find typical views of wetlands – areas of reeds, shrubbery, wet meadows and the overgrown lake. |

The nature park near the town of Ogre is a popular place for leisure, hiking and, in the winter, cross-country skiing. Most of the park is covered with coniferous trees that are on a long and comparatively narrow line of hillocks with steep sides – another element of nature left behind in Latvia by the Ice Age. Many different plants can be found here. The Jaunogres castle hill is one of the most distinct hillocks in the area. |

One of the most distinct sub-glacial depressions in Latvia, with 11 lakes of various sizes and depths. This is a magnificently lovely territory, with particularly good views from the Drusku castle hill. On a clear day, one can even see the Hanja highlands of Estonia. The restricted territory was set up to protect boreal and hillside forests I the area.
