Atrodas pilsētas centrā, Atbrīvošanas alejā 98. Dievnamu sāka celt 1840. g. (iesvētīja 1846. g.) un tas uzskatāms par pilsētas vecāko sakrālo būvi. Nekvalitatīvu būvniecības materiālu izmantošana un cēlāju pieredzes trūkums bija iemesls, kādēļ 1854. g. to nācās pārbūvēt. Pie baznīcas atrodas 1867. g. būvēta Sv. A. Ņevska kapliča, kas veltīta cara Aleksandra II paglābšanās faktam vilciena katastrofā un stikla mauzolejs, kurā apbedīts baznīcas mecenāts ģenerālis Karaulovs (šobrīd tiek restaurēts). Dievnams ir atvērts arī apmeklētājiem. |

This is appropriate for active hikers who enjoy looking at nature and learning about cultural and historical environments. The hike is down the valley of the most impressive river in the Baltic States – the Gauja, as well as the deep and ancient valley of one of its tributaries – the Amata. Lovely Devonian sandstone cliffs rise above both sides of the rivers. The Līgatne Paper Factory village is an outstanding example of industrial heritage at the European level, with a unique environment from the 19th and 20th century. The first stone castle in Alsunga was built in 1372, starting with the central part of the southern wing. The authorised representative of the Livonian Order, who was subject to a higher-ranking official in Kuldīga, lived here. The guard towers and other parts of the castle were gradually added between the 15th and the 18th century. The Baroque castle with its two towers is quite impressive. The castle is unique in and outside of Latvia in that it is one of the rare Medieval castles to have survived to the present day in part, but in its original historical appearance. The castle offers an exhibition about its history. Visitors can look at a Suiti kitchen, write a letter with a fountain pen in Barbara’s boudoir, or celebrate a special event in the romantic venue of the castle’s round tower. Renovation of the castle began in 2018, and it is closed to visitors. Still, you can look at its exterior and tour its garden. |

A unique farmyard that includes a full set of buildings typical of this area. The farmstead buildings reflect at least 300-400 years of Latvian nation-building development. This is a sandstone cliff with several arches, pillars and niches. The set of caves (Little Hell, Devil’s Kiln, Devil’s Cave, Liepmuiža Cave and Liepa Cave) are a bit more than 20 m, with a ceiling height of 3.5 m and a width of 5 m. A powerful stream flows from the cave, which is thought to have been formed around 7,000 years ago. The cave is much damaged, because white sand was dug from it in the early 20th century. Great Ellīte is an ancient cult site. Today the site has been much improved. |

This is an ancient and important place for trade and craftsmanship on the left shore of the Rīga hydroelectric power plant reservoir. It rises some 15 m above the Daugava River. The Zemgale port that is described in historical documents is thought to have been located alongside the castle hill and at the mouth of the little Varžupīte stream. Antiquities that have been dug up here suggest that the castle hill and its adjoining ancient settlement were populated until the late 12th century, when the importance of Daugmale began to shrink because of rapidly growing Rīga. The foundations of the castle hill have been shored up. |

This museum is along the road from Jaunpiebalga and Vecpiebalga and was opened in 1969. It focuses on the life and work of two distinguished Latvians – the composer Emīls Dārziņš (1875-1910) and the poet and writer Jānis Sudrabkalns (1894-1975). It features items related to the lives of the two men. Music by Dārziņš can be heard in the museum, tours are offered to individual visitors and groups, and thematic and musical events are held at the museum. |

Kihnu is the largest island in the Gulf of Riga with an area of 16.4 km2, it is only 7 km long and 3.3 km wide. There are four villages on the island and the unique atmosphere of the island can be experienced by visiting a local family at Kuraga Farm. Three generations live in this farm and are happy to welcome guests. |

Tiskādi Orthodox Church is the cultural monument of the local significance. The construction works of the building lasted from 1829 to 1878. The
church was reconstructed in 2008. The church has antique icons and the library
of sacred literature.

Parkā (ziemeļos no pils) uzmeklējams piemiņas akmens, kas veltīts komunistiskā terora upuriem. Pie Nēķena muižas sākās 0,4 km garā Cieres dabas taka, kas iepazīstina ar Gaujas krastu mitrājiem. |

Kaunas Castle is the oldest stone castle in Lithuania and interestingly enough, the museum that is inside is also the oldest one in Lithuania. Home producer Elma Zadiņa prepares sklandraušs, which have rye flour bottoms, as well as an old Latvian lunch dish - a porridge, using ground wheat and rye flour. The products are produced in small quantities at home. Tasting of porridge and smoothies is possible. |
