The Buse (Matkule) castle hill is next to the Imula River.  The hill and the opposite bank of the river offer one of the loveliest views of small rivers in Kurzeme.  They are best seen during the season when trees are bare so that leaves do not cover up the landscapes.  There are trails for pedestrians in the area.

The history of Līgatne cannot be separated from the paper factory which was once the only factory of its kind in Latvia. Tours are available in the company of a guide. During the late 19th and early 20th century, the company built homes, a school, a birthing centre, a hospital, a club, a guesthouse and other buildings for its employees, and most of these buildings have survived to this day. There are more than 200 interesting underground passageways which are still used as warehouses for various items, including vegetables.

This territory is meant to protect the large hillocks and lakes of the Augšzeme highlands – Lake Svente, Lake Medums, Lake Ilga and others, with their islands, landscapes and species. The nature park which has been established around Lake Svente and Lake Medums is part of this territory, and there are several areas that are restricted for environmental reasons – Lake Bardinskis, Lake Skujine, and the islands of Lake Medums and Lake Svente. There is a viewing tower on Egļukalns Hill, along with downhill ski routes.

In Vecslabada, there is a peninsula among Lake Dziļezers, Lake Audzeļi, and Lake Istra. From the highest point on the peninsula, you will see a truly unusual view of the land of the blue lakes – lake islands, as well as the village of Vecslabada with its church towers. Atrodas t.s. Baznīcu kalnā – 18. novembra ielā 66. Apjoma ziņā – lielākais Daugavpils luterāņu dievnams, kuru cēla laikā no 1891. - 1893. g. neogotiskā stilā no sarkanajiem ķieģeļiem (arhitekts Vilhelms Neimanis). 1941. g. baznīcā izcēlās ugunsgrēks un gāja bojā lielākā daļa no tās sākotnējās iekārtas. Turpmāko divu gadu laikā baznīcu daļēji atjaunoja, taču vēlāk tajā izveidoja noliktavu u.c. baznīcai „nepiederīgas” iestādes. 1985. g. ēka vēlreiz cieta ugunsgrēkā. Pagājušā gadsimta deviņdesmito gadu sākumā uzsāka baznīcas atjaunošanas darbus, uzstādīja solus un altāri, kas ir Ogres Amatniecības vidusskolas audzēkņu darinājums.

Одна из наиболее высоких дюн нашего побережья. В советское время в дюне велись копательные работы, так как песок использовался для производства силикатного кирпича. В 80-е годы ХХ века копательные работы были прекращены. Самая высокая часть дюны (хороший вид) сохранилась и поросла сосновым лесом. Создана природная тропа горы Пусену. Nature trail "Curves of Riva" starts at Ulmale-Labraga Lutheran Church and continues 3 kilometres down the picturesque downstream of river Riva. Rīva here flows in a canyon-type ravine which reaches 12 meter rise at some points. The trail reveals countless river twists and turns and steep coastal cliffs.
The air here is unusual, filled with sea and pine tree aroma. You'll be able to enjoy an undisturbed peace and quiet, watching the magnificent scenery and the tranquil flow of the river.

The trail is partly accessible with an assistant and is marked with green paint.

The stronghold dates back to the 13th C, exhibitions in its cellars present wildlife and history of the island. Workshops (smithy, glass, ceramics, stone) run from May to August for visitors to admire or participate in. The archery range nearby adds to the excitement and there you can also mint coins.

Ilziņš jeb Vestienas dzirnavezers pazīstams ar nostāstiem par tajā "periodiski uzpeldošām kūdras salām". Saskaņā ar vietējo iedzīvotāju sniegtajām ziņām, minētā parādība gan sen jau vairs nav novērota. Tajā pat laikā ezers un tā apkārtne ir nozīmīga daudzu aizsargājamu biotopu un sugu dzīves vieta. Ezers ietilpst Vestienas aizsargājamo ainavu apvidū. Ezeru var redzēt, braucot pa Ērgļu - Gaiziņkalna ceļu. Var pakāpties arī blakus esošajā paugurā (ziemeļos no minētā ceļa un ezera), no kura paveras plašāka skatu perspektīva.

The norther part of the Liepāja fortress includes the so-called military port, which was opened to the public after the restoration of Latvia’s independence.  The forts, defensive batteries, the Orthodox Sea Cathedral of St Nicholas, a water tower, a sports hall, the port’s prison, the northern breakwater, and the rotating bridge of Oskars Kalpaks are all interesting destinations.

The church was opened in 1651 after half a century of sometimes interrupted construction.  It was fully rebuilt and took on its current appearance in 1876.  The church contains one of the most important church objects in Latvia – the oldest pulpit in the country (1590).  It was designed in the style of Mannerism.  The church also has a bell from a wrecked chapel of the local knighthood.  The bell was manufacture in 1450 and was installed at the church in the 19th century.  It is the oldest church bell in Latvia.  The German painter F. Wolff painted the altar painting, “Christ on the Cross,” and it, along with the altar, have recently been restored.

The company is in a building that was built in 1911 and produces milk, kefir, buttermilk, cream, cottage cheese, sweet cottage cheese crèmes, butter, yogurt and cheese.  A store alongside the co-operative offers Straupe Dairy Co-operative products, as well as cheeses manufactured by its partners – Smiltenes Dairy and SIA Latvijas Piens.  This is one of five companies in Latvia that is allowed to manufacture one of the EU’s guaranteed traditional characteristics product, “Summer Solstice” cheese.  The products have been awarded the “Green Teaspoon” and “Latvian Goodies” status.  Group tours are offered a chance to taste the products and learn about the co-operative’s operations.

This lovely farm features lilies, peonies and other flowers, as well as a beautiful rock garden and a dendrological park that is under development.  Bees from more than 100 hives produce honey.  The lady of the house will take you on a tour and offer plants and honey products for sale.
