The River Ķīšupe (length – 31 km) begins its journey in the marshlands of Lēdurga Parish. As the river reaches the seashore, its bed and the location of its mouth often changes. One of the tributaries of the Ķīšupe carries a rather interesting name – Pupaļurga. The name of the River Ķīšupe probably comes from the name of a man and his house. In the 17th century a man named Ķīsis (in English: ruffe) used to live by the river.

Old Believers, who fled persecution from the Russian Orthodox church because of their refusal to adapt to church reforms, settled down on the western shore of Lake Peipsi in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Their traditional one-street villages can be seen along the lakeshore where Kasepää, Tiheda, Kükita and Raja villages together extend for an almost continuous 8 km. It is one of the few places in Estonia today with such a concentration of Old Believers. The villages featuring prayer houses and homesteads in a distinctly different architectural and life style are a true wonder.

There are several large territories on either side of the Irbe River that were linked at one time by tank roads. Tank training and inspections were conducted here at one time, but now the territory has been abandoned and is slowly being reclaimed by the forest.

BURSH brewery – one of the smallest breweries in Latvia which is situated between Zemgale, Vidzeme, Latgale and Selija territories – in the Plavinu territory of Aiviekste district. Beer connoisseurs are offered dark and light beer BURSH. BURSH is made of water, barley malt, hop and yeast, is boiled on a firewood stove, fermented in oak barrels and prepared for 30 days. LLC „ECOS” uses only natural raw material in the process of brewing. Beer is made according to the special recipes made especially for BURSH brewery and with attention to traditiaonal methods of brewing beer.

Jau pēc dievnama veidola var spriest, ka vēl ne tik sen – padomju laikos ēka bija izmantota citām vajadzībām. Pēc 2. pasaules kara to atsavināja draudzei, bet torni – uzspridzināja, dievnamā ierīkojot noliktavu. 20. gs. deviņdesmitajos gados draudze uzsāka baznīcas atjaunotni un tagad tā kalpo savam pamatmērķim.

Until the 1680s, where the Vecdaugava neighbourhood is located, there was a castle which, because of natural changes in the riverbed of the Daugava, was then dismantled and “moved” to the Left Bank of the Daugava. Nothing remains of the castle, but people can still see the remnants of old barriers and moats. Swedish soldiers used the facility at the beginning of the Great Northern War. The place is certainly interesting in the context of Rīga’s history and military heritage, and if you’re in the northern reaches of the city, we recommend that you go and have a look.

During Soviet times, Vaiņode was the site of one of the Soviet Union’s largest military airfields in the Baltic States. During the period of Latvia’s independence, the country’s first dirigibles were based here. Eventually their hangars were dismantled and brought to Rīga, where they were used for the Rīga Central Market. They are still there today. Some of Latvia’s first gliders took off from Vaiņode. During the Soviet occupation, the airfield was home to an air defence and destroyer squadron, with 38 SU-27 “Flanker” destroyers on site. After the restoration of Latvia’s independence, the Vaiņode airfield was dismantled in part, and the big plates of concrete that covered the runways and the rest of the airfield were used to improve the Liepāja port. There are still 16 hangars at the airport, and 1,800 of the formerly 2,500 metres long runway are also still there. This is one of the most interesting protected territories in the city of Rīga, and its aim is to protect coastline biotopes – dune and coastal meadows and the birds and plants which are found there (among them, 29% of the species of orchids). There is a marked information trail with a bird-watching tower. This is the only outdoor viewing tower in Latvia that has been adapted for the needs of people in wheelchairs.

Gar teritorijas ziemeļu robežu iet Nagļu - Degumnieku ceļš (iekļaujas kopējā Lubāna dambju sistēmā), pa kuru apkārt Lubāna ezeram izveidots velomaršruts. Tas nozīmē, ka teritoriju var aplūkot arī "no malas", netraucējot tās dabiskās norises. Teritorija ietilpst arī Lubāna mitrāja kompleksā.

Маршрут подходит для тех, кто любит наслаждаться природными и культурными ценностями! Сказочные Слитерские Синие горы известны уже с давних времен, когда на них «пираты» жгли ложные костры, чтобы корабли налетали на мель мыса Колки. В наше время берега национального парка «Слитере» образно наывают геологическим музеем Балтийского моря под открытым небом, так как здесь можно увидеть древний берег Балтийского ледникового озера, береговой уступ Анцильского озера и дюнные образования Литоринского моря (валообразные дюны (кангари) и заболоченные междюновые впадины (виги)), которые наглядно отображают историю развития Балтийского моря за последние 10 000 лет. Этот берег исторически населяли ливы, рыбацкие поселки которых являются значимой культурной средой одного из самых малых национальных меньшинств в мире. Маршрут на участке от Мазирбе до Колки ведет по старой прибрежной дороге, которая петляет через ливские поселки – Кошрагс, Питрагс, Саунагс и Вайде. Национальный парк «Слитере» – одна из наиболее флорестически богатых территорий Латвии, а мыс Колка – одно из популярнейших мест для наблюдения за птицами во время их миграции.

Atrodas ciema ziemeļdaļā. Neliela vienstāvu ēka ar svaigi nomainītu jumtu. Pēc vieniem avotiem celta 1883. gadā, citiem – pamatakmens ielikts 1933. g. 1. maijā. Tā tapusi pēc vietējo iedzīvotāju ziedojumiem uz Pirču māju zemes (saimnieks zemi atdevis dievnama celtniecībai). Baznīcas iekārta 2. pasaules kara laikā gāja bojā, tādēļ mūsdienās redzamā ir tapusi 20. gs. otrajā pusē.

These are beautiful and impressive views, particularly early in the morning, of the historical locations of Alūksne. Go to Templis Hill, the Aleksandrs Pavilion, the obelisk which commemorates Heinrich von Fittinghoff, and the memorial to soldiers of the No. 7 Sigulda Brigade for good views. The Templis Hill, the castle ruins, the estate and the pavilions are arhitectural monuments.
