Zemnieku saimniecība "Mežnoras" Raunā izveidota 1993.gadā. Saimnieki Aivars, Ārija un Līga Urbasti šobrīd audzē 1,6 ha vasaras un rudens avenes, arī nelielās platībās zemenes uz lauka un segtās platībās, siltumnīcā. Zemenes no "Mežnorām" parasti pieejamas laikā no maija vidus līdz oktobra vidum. "Mežnorās " audzē vasaras avenes "Norna", rudens avenes "Babje ļeto", “Polana”, populāro zemeņu šķirni “Polka”. No savā dārzā audzētajām ogām (upenes, jāņogas, ķirši, zemenes u.c.) Aivars gatavo mājas vīnu: "Mežnoru vīns pilnībā sākās Mežnorās. Tas piedzimst nevis mucās, bet sākas mūsu zemeņu vai aveņu laukā, un tās ir daudz dziļākas saknes, kas atstāj pēdas arī garšā”. Saimniecībā audzētais pieejams uz vietas Raunā, gan arī Straupes Lauku labumu tirdziņā, Straupes Hanzas tirgū, arī sezonā - Cēsu tirgū. |

Sts. Simon and Judas Roman Catholic Church of Dricāni was
built in 1859 on the top of the hill. There is the wooden altar of the Holy Spirit, decorated with woodcarvings, wooden statuettes and the icon of Simon and Jude.

During Soviet times, Vaiņode was the site of one of the Soviet Union’s largest military airfields in the Baltic States. During the period of Latvia’s independence, the country’s first dirigibles were based here. Eventually their hangars were dismantled and brought to Rīga, where they were used for the Rīga Central Market. They are still there today. Some of Latvia’s first gliders took off from Vaiņode. During the Soviet occupation, the airfield was home to an air defence and destroyer squadron, with 38 SU-27 “Flanker” destroyers on site. After the restoration of Latvia’s independence, the Vaiņode airfield was dismantled in part, and the big plates of concrete that covered the runways and the rest of the airfield were used to improve the Liepāja port. There are still 16 hangars at the airport, and 1,800 of the formerly 2,500 metres long runway are also still there. This is one of the largest vineyards in Latvia, with more than 50 types of grapes. The owner will take you on a tour and offer consultations about growing grapes, tastings of grapes and an ability to purchase the plants. |

The café is alongside the Rēzekne castle hill and the “Zeimuļs” creative services centre of Eastern Latvia (built in September 2012). A lovely interior design and a look at historical objects form Rēzekne are part of the café. It is named after the Rositten fortress that was built here by the master of the Livonian Order in the 13th century. Meals are offered throughout the day, and various foods and baked goods are for sale. |

Salumegi ziemeļu pusē slejas 4 - 5 metrus augsts kaļķakmens atsegums – silūra perioda (> 400 mlj. gadu) koraļļu rifa paliekas, kuru noskalojuši Litorīnas jūras viļņi. Atseguma piekājē izplūst Acu avots, kam piedēvē dziednieciskas īpašības. Salumegi apskates nolūkos izveidota lokveida taka (1,5 km). No kalna augšas paveras labs skats uz Matsalu līci. Šeit atradies arī sens pilskalns. |

Ļoti skaists un ainavisks etnogrāfiskais ciems Balošas (Baluošas) ezera ziemeļu krastā, netālu no diviem iepriekš minētajiem ciemiem. Te apskatāmas interesantas un skaistas koka ēkas, kas celtas no guļbaļķiem, ar niedru vai lubiņu jumtiem un izrotātas ar dažāda veida dekoratīvajiem elementiem. Pirmo reizi rakstos Šumini minēti 1784. g. Savu vārdu ciems ieguva no kādreiz dzīvojošas ģimenes uzvārda. Kā interesantākā ir jāpiemin sena klēts. |

This area is full of coastline meadows, lagoons, muddy little lakes and sandy shallows, all full of reeds. This area of the eastern shore of the Bay of Rīga is found between Ainaži and Kuiviži. The Randa meadows are an enormously important location for water birds and rare plants – some 500 in all. A new bird-watching tower and a nature trail have been established for those who wish to study the meadows.

The tour passes through national parks and protected nature territories of interntional importance, following the sea shore. It also stops at small charming towns, several historic sites and traditional villages. During the tour you learn not only about rare and protected plants and local traditions but also enjoy beautiful landscapes, wilderness and solitude. At the Ķemeri National Park you will follow a fenland trail, see wild meadows and stop at a bird-watching tower beside Lake Kaņieris. Then we explore the Engure Lake Nature Park where 22 types of orchids can be found. Next day thr route heads to Slitere National Park, the former territory of the Baltic Ice Lake and Litornic Sea. You will follow the Cape Kolka pine-tree trail and Peterezers Lake trail with ancient dunes and landscape. Then head to Stiklu Bog trail, in the largest bog territory in Latvia. At Užava you will discover the largest 'grey' dune in the Baltics before following the wild banks of the River Venta and visiting the charming town of Kuldiga, with its well-preserved wooden architecture and the widest waterfall in Europe. The route follows the Abava valley created by the melting of ancient ice. At Sabile you can stop at its famous Wine Hill - location of the most northerly grown grapes from which wine is produced - and follow a botanic trail with stops at the grandest oak tree in Europe. On the way to Riga, walk 5 km long Cena Heath trail which features low, high and transit bogs and related plants. |
