DabaLaba is in one of the places in Latvia that has the very lowest population density per square kilometre. There are huge forests around our venue with lots of animals, clean rivers and lovely forest lakes. DabaLaba launched operations in 2010 by renting boats. The next season we set up an archery range and started to offer guided tours of the surrounding environment – hikes, safari trips down the forest roads of the “Ance Swamps and Forests” restricted area, interesting, merry and lovely moments outdoors, hunting with your camera, as well as special trips for schoolchildren. Boats and SUP boards can be rented in Irbe, Rinda, Stende, Engure and Lonaste (or elsewhere on the basis of a separate agreement). Since August 2018, DabaLaba has offered the restaurant #Mežā during the summer months. It is in the centre of the forest and offers pure, tasty and healthy dishes made of local ingredients and no preservatives or additives. The menu has dishes for vegetarians and vegans, as well as dishes with no gluten and no lactose. We also have a country sauna where two people can spend the night after taking their sauna.

Hostel "Sili" is located near Jelgava, in Mežciems. It has 19 rooms, as well as a conference and event hall, fully equipped kitchens with all the necessary equipment and utensils for cooking (ceramic hob, refrigerator, kettle, microwave, pots, pans and kitchen utensils). In 2015 owners of ''Zeltlejas'' started to develop the first sea buckthorn plantations, but in 2018 the area where the sea buckthorn is grown for berry extraction was 24 hectares. Only one breed of sea buckthorn trees with high oil and carotenoid content is grown in the garden. But strawberries are grown in the greenhouses, that's why they are ripen already in the spring. The Jaunpils Crafts House opened on May 10, 2015, and it is home to a group of weavers from Jaunpils that was established in 1970, as well as the “Dzīpars” organisation. The group is led by a master weaver, Velga Pavlovska, who is happy to share her knowledge with the 18 women who are part of the group. She organises the work of women who do handicrafts, and she also conducts tours and creative workshops. Visitors can learn about the work of weavers and other master handicraft specialists, take part in educational master classes, go on tours and purchase various souvenirs. |
