The Buse (Matkule) castle hill is near the Imula River. From the castle hill and from the opposite shore of the river, you can find one of the loveliest views of Kurzeme’s small rivers. Their appearance is best when trees and other flora are bare and the view is unimpeded. A wonderful view of the Imula valley is also seen on the road to the castle hill – near the Buse homestead.

These meadows are of distinction because of the curvy Slampe River, which has caused a gradual recovery of damp meadows, complete with species of plants and animals that are typical of such areas. Domestic animals adapted for life in the wild can be seen here, and a bird watching tower on the location will offer you an excellent opportunity to view them. You can get to the meadows via a narrow corridor known as the Melnragu throat. The gravel road will lead to a hillock called Kurgāns from which you can have an excellent view of the surrounding landscape. |

Temple Hill is steep (with artificially created steepness) and about 30 m high, and it is opposite Marijas Island. It is an ancient Lettigalian castle hill, 80 m long and 40 m wide, with several artificial ramparts. One of the oldest objects found in the region is an axe from the 2nd to 3rd millennium BC. Archaeologists believe that the island was populated at that time. There was a Lettigalian castle on the hill during the 10th and 11th century, but it was sacked by the Holy Crusade. The surface of the castle hill was transformed comparatively recently in 1807, when a granite rotunda was built there in honour of Russian Field Marshall Sheremetev and Swedish captain Wulff. The view of Lake Alūksne and the town is one of the most beautiful ones in all Vidzeme. The Sun Bridge (1937) is also worth a look. A wooden viewing platform is nearby. |

The Walker company organ in the church was built in 1906 in Ludwigsburg in Southern Germany. In 1992, a memorial plaque to commemorate people from Gārsene who were repressed by the Soviet regime was consecrated at the church. 100 m to the East is a cemetery where we see the legendary chapel of the Budberg dynasty, as well as the graves of the noblemen. The church is open to visitors. |

Atrodas ~ 1,5 km ziemeļos no Krāslavas centra, Jāņupītes krastā (ir norāde). Pēc atsevišķiem savrupatradumiem var spriest, ka pilskalns apdzīvots laikā no I g. t. pr. |
