Виргская господская усадьба как лен была передана вассалу Ливонского ордена Конраду Нолду. До наших дней сохранился дворец господской усадьбы «Виргас», в котором с 1935 года до наших дней разместилась школа. Во дворце находятся три двери, украшенные красивой резьбой по дереву, с гербами рода Нолдов и портреты баронов. В бывшей клети господской усадьбы в 1983 г. обустроен Дом традиций - теперь Дом культуры. Господскую усадьбу окружает парк, в котором находится место могилы барона Нолда и баронессы с памятником. В центре Вирги установлен сапог Карла XII с двумя направленными друг от друга пушками и ядрами, которые вещают о временах Северной войны, когда в Вирге в 1701 г. был лагерь шведского войска. |

Mooste Manor is located on the Mooste lakeshore. The attractive mansion is complemented by a large number of outbuildings in Historicist style, and a landscaped park in English style. The mansion houses the local school, the woodwork shop has become a guesthouse, the stable of workhorses is home to restorers, the manager´s house is the Centre for Art and Social Practice while the cattle shed is a concert hall today. |

A former manor barn, located by the lake in Raiskums, 8 km from Cēsis, where bread and beer is made. Offers beer brewed according to ancient traditions, bread and smoked meat prepared following the recipes of ancestors. Bread is cooked in a wood oven with natural sourdough. This 1939 monument was designed by Kārlis Zemdega and is dedicated to Agriculture Minister Arturs Alberings from the first period of Latvian independence. The monument shows a young man with a grain basket. The monument disappeared during the Soviet occupation, and a gypsum statue of a Pioneer was installed instead. In 1977, children found some parts of the old sculpture buried in the ground, and 10 years later someone found the head of the monument. After a restoration, the Sower sculpture is now in its historical location – in the Terneja Park alongside Rīgas Street. |

The first written records of the manor date from 1422, its fate in the 20th C was very chequered with changing hands and functions many times. Today there is a ceramic workshop where you can buy a range of products, model your own pieces, or decorate or glaze blank items to your taste. A woodwork shop shows various woodworking techniques. |

For the first time, Balvi as populated area was mentioned in 1224. In the turn of 19th and 20th century, Balvi as manor and the parish centre formed as a larger settlement. During the Latvian freedom fights in 1919 Balvi was a place of establishment of Latgale guerrilla regiment. In 1926 Balvi obtained village rights, but by the 1928 became a town. During the World War II, while retreating, the German burnt down Balvi almost completely. People of Balvi are proud that the sun rises here about three minutes earlier than in the capital. Also the centre of the town has changed over the recent years. |
