Nature restricted area is located to the South from former railroad Ventspils-Liepaja and includes approximately 6 km of Uzava River (and the old drainage system). The territory was used for agriculture during Soviet time, now it starts overgrow by scrubs. The protected nature values – rare bird species, including corncrakes, variety of grassland habitats and plant species. Territory is not useable for tourism activities. There is a possibility to get good insight into the North part of restricted area from the road Alsunga – Berzkalns where information stand is located.

Das Schloss wurde von 1859 bis 1863 auf Veranlassung des Barons Alexander von Vietinghoff im Stil der späten Tudor-Neogotik (eins der bedeutendsten Denkmäler solchen Stils in Lettland) mit einem reichen Kalk-Außenputz errichtet. Den Baronen von Vietinghoff gehörte das Schloss bis zur Agrarreform im Jahre 1920. Von 1921 bis 1940 wurde das Schloss durch das 7. Infanterieregiment von Sigulda requiriert. Zurzeit befindet sich im Schloss das Museum von Alūksne mit einer Dauerausstellung und das Naturmuseum “Vides labirints”. Einige der ungewöhnlichen Exponate des Museums „Vides labirints” sind die fluoreszierenden Minerale, die im Licht verschiedener Farbenspektren anzuschauen sind! |

The first wooden Catholic church in Dagda was built in 1705, while the church that is seen today was built in the Baroque style during the latter half of the 18th century, the work financed by a local nobleman. Important interior elements include the altar, the pulpit, the organ, a monument to the Hilsen dynasty, etc. To the North of the church is historical Dagda itself, with typical red brick buildings from the early 20th century that are known as the former homes of Jewish merchants.

Die Töpferin bietet Kurse an, bei denen man selbst Erzeugnisse aus Ton kreieren und diese brennen kann. In der Werkstatt sind sowohl Kindergartengruppen und Schulklassen willkommen als auch Erwachsene und Senioren. Die Töpferin hat auch Erfahrung im Umgang mit Behinderten. In der Töpferwerkstatt kann man fertige Erzeugnisse kaufen. |

Kihnu is the largest island in the Gulf of Riga, with an area of 16.4 km2. It is only 7 km long and 3.3 km wide. Kihnu's cultural space and traditions are included on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. There are four villages on the island and the islanders still wear national dress as everyday apparel. The unique atmosphere of the island can be experienced during a guided day programme. Kihnu Mare, the local guide, has developed her own traditional culture network with the people who have the know-how and skills to demonstrate for visitors the different aspects of Kihnu culture: the language, the traditional clothes, farming and fieldwork, handicrafts, the preparation of traditional foods, folklore, church life, singing, and dancing at weddings and village parties, as well as their traditions surrounding the sea, fishing, seal hunting and living with nature. |

This arboretum is in a lovely location in the Vidzeme highlands. It covers 140 hectares of land and offers a look at interesting coniferous trees, lianas, lilacs, rhododendrons and peonies. The facility has a modern visitor information centres.
Unique species: The Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), the Fringe Tree (Chionanthus virginicus), and the Kobushi Magnolia (Magnolia kobus).
