Chairperson of the session

The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is a not-for-profit organisation of international character with the mission to assist in solving environmental problems in CEE region. The REC fulfils its mission through encouraging co-operation among non-governmental organisations, governments and businesses, supporting the free exchange of information and providing opportunities for capacity building on environment, as well as promoting public participation in environmental decision-making process.

The REC representative office in Latvia (REC Latvia) operates since 1995. REC Latvia fields of activities include:  environmental education and nature protection projects; assistance to municipalities in environmental planning and project development, specifically for implementation of the EU water policies,  promotion of public participation in the light of the Aarhus Convention,  civil society development projects including  environmental NGOs capacity building and grants programmes, etc.
