Lithuania

Lithuania is the southernmost Baltic country, but this is not the only reason why Lithuanians are called the “Baltic Southerners”. Lithuanians are said to be more open, talkative and temperamental than their neighbours to the North.

There are four historical regions in Lithuania: Aukštaitija, Suvalkija, Žemaitija, Dzukija. Each region has something that differs it from the others. In Aukštaitija, there are many lakes, linked by small rivulets and ideal for boating. The geographical centre of Europe is in this region. Dzukija in the South of the country is famous for its deep forests. Earlier the region was renowned for its health resorts. In Žemaitija one will find the Baltic Sea beaches and the Curonian Spit, so much  favoured by tourists. Vast agricultural landscapes are typical for Suvalkija, the central region of the country.
