The church was built between 1932 and 1938 to replace an old Neo-Gothic wooden church.  It was designed by J. Cīrulis.  Until 1994, the building housed a venue that rented out films.  Today it houses an exhibition, “From Foundations to the Steeple:  Photographs of Ancient Lettigalian Construction Jobs.”  This documents the construction of the church.  The 37 metre steeple offers a good look at Rēzekne.

The loveliest views of the local cultural and historical treasures (the Āraiši lake castle, the Lutheran church, the parsonage, Medieval castle ruins – all of these cultural monuments). The ruins of the Koknese Castle are found where the Daugava and Pērse rivers flow together. The castle, which is on a floodplain, was built for the bishopric of Rīga in 1209, and it replaced an ancient Latvian castle that was made of wood. The castle was blown up by Saxon forces in 1701. A visitors centre is near the ruins, and there you can carve a Medieval coin or rent a boat to sail down the Daugava. Make sure to stroll through the Koknese park, which is alongside the ruins.

Baznīca, kurā ir vērts ieiet!

The potter is happy to welcome guests, offer them tours and demonstrations, and allow visitors to help in producing ceramics.  Particularly interesting is the opening of the kiln, and pottery can be purchased at the site.

Das Museum befindet sich in der Festung von Kopgalis. Im Aquarium des Museums sind Fische und Tiere der Ostsee und anderer Meere und Ozeane zu sehen. Eine Ausstellung. Pinguine und Seehunde. In den Pulverkellern der Festung ist eine Ausstellung der Seefhrt Litauens, aber auf den Bollwerken eine Ausstellung der Gewehr eingerichtet. Das einzige Delfinarium im Baltikum.

Open landscape area within farming lands on both banks of Uzava River about 10 km before it flows into the Baltic Sea. There is a good open view over the area from the Vendzava-Ziri road going through the nature park. Protection of migratory birds and corncrakes has been one of the main reasons for establishment of the nature park. Bird watching is possible from the road Vendzava-Ziri during migration period in spring and fall. There is no tourist infrastructure in the nature park.

This territory is Lithuania’s most forested area, and people here have always lived in accordance with nature. Local treasures include berries, mushrooms, honey, clean water from streams and rivers, etc. People here have engaged in various crafts, as well as in beekeeping.

One of the few pure stands of oak trees in Latvia, this one covers 19.6 ha, and it was declared to be a protected territory back in 1928.  The oldest trees are 300 to 400 years old.  The stand of trees can be found alongside the Ezernieki-Andzeļi road.  There is a small car park, along with a hiking trail, an information stand, and a leisure area with a plank from which the northern bay and islands of Lake Ežezers can be seen very well.  There are typical species of plants, mushrooms and insects here, but only a specialist will be able to recognise them.

Hiiu Vill is a family business and one of very few wool manufacturing companies in Estonia, it uses 19th C machinery of Polish origin (carding and roving machines), which the owners are happy to demonstrate. A café is open in summer only; woollen handicrafts are sold all year round.

The radio telescope at Irbene was at one time used for anti-espionage purposes. There were various military units and objects in Irbene, including a military housing estate that has now been abandoned. The radio telescope is now run by the Radio Astronomy Centre of the Latvian Academy of Sciences for scientific purposes. Guided tours of the object are available.

The River Pēterupe (46 km long) in its lower reaches flows by the sea, and it is one of the longest parts of the river along the picturesque coastline. In the past the River Pēterupe had several names: Pērļupe, Tarupe, Tara (in Livonian: the River of God or the Holy River). Jēsū – Kepu ceļa malā pie Leti (Läti) ciema ir izveidots autostāvlaukums ar putnu vērošanas torni, no kura paveras skats uz Hallistes upes palieņu pļavām un tuvējā ciema apkārtni. Stipru palu laikā arī no šī torņa redzamā apkārtne (izņemot ceļus) var atrasties zem ūdens. Laba putnu vērošanas vieta. Läti tulkojumā no igauņu valodas nozīmē Latvija.
