In the museum there are rooms not only dedicated to Lithuanian Karaite communities but also Poland's and Ukraine's. |

The trail tells about grey dunes which have survived thanks to the border restrictions and the presence of military. The trail starts from the parking place at the mouth of the Užava river. It is one of the few natural rivermouths in Europe. One can also see the „tacis”, an industrial installation for lamprey (Lampetra fluviatilis) fishing during their spawning migration period. The 3km long trail is circular. It winds for 1.5km from the Užava rivermouth to the North, along the coastline (the beach is covered with sand and pebbles), and returns to the starting point by a gravel road through grey dunes. Along the trail, one can observe a distinct white dune with rare plant species Linaria loeselii, Lathyrus maritimus, Anthyllis arenaria, Tragopogon heterospermus. About 1km from the rivermouth, in the sea, one can see a wrack of a sailing ship (parts of frame). The visibility depends on the flow of sand in the sea. The way back opens a beautiful view of the range of grey dunes. Unfortunately, Scots Pine starts taking over the area. There are three important biotopes of EU significance: „Fixed dunes with herbaceous vegetation 2130”, „Decalcified fixed dunes with Empetrum nigrum 2140” and „Dunes with Salix arenaria 2170”, forming a unique mosaic. Typical species here: mountain Alison ‘(Alyssum gmelinii), Pasqueflower (Pulsatilla pratensis), Sand Pink (Dianthus arenarius), Rosemary Leaved Willow (Salix rosmarinifolia), Dark Red Helleborine (Epipactis atrorubens), Kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylus uva-ursi). As a former military site, some military constructions can be seen here like horseshoe-shaped sand ramparts by the road in gray dunes. They were built to disguise military vehicles in case of sea attack. By the Kangroti graveyard, towards the Užava river, there is an underground pillbox. This tour will take you on a walk through the Curonian Spit from Nida to Smiltynė. The Curonian Spit National Park is located on a long, sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. A sand beach of ~50 km is running on the western side of the dune spit, while the shore of the Curonian Lagoon is shallow and characteristic of ridged bays overgrown with reeds. The Baltic Coastal Hiking Route starts in the centre of Nida near the port. In Nida, it runs along the Curonian Lagoon promenade, offering beautiful views of the spacious waters. From Nida to Bulvikio Cape, the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route winds along small forest paths leading up and down pine-covered dunes; in the village of Preila, the trail runs along the promenade of the lagoon. Between Pervalka and Juodkrantė, the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route leads along a beautiful, sandy beach. You can take the Raganų kalnas (Hill of Witches) trail in Juodkrantė. The route alternates between the Baltic Sea coast, the dunes and the Curonian Lagoon until it finally reaches the ferry, which will take you to Klaipėda. |

Лёльский камень „След черта” находится на территории Маконькалнской волости. Находится на
лужайке небольшого леса, в двух десятках метров от канавы, которая обозначивает границу
Резекненского и Краславского краев. Это (около 1,9 м высотой) закругленный конус с периметров
основания 1,8 м. Когда-то на камне был отпечаток подковы, теперь видна неопределенной формы
щербатость. Замечательный знак подковы какой-то „артист” преднамеренно испортил. Первый раз камень
как геологический памятник зарегистрирован в тридцатых годах 20 века. Тогда на иной административной
территории – Андрупенской волости Резекненского округа.

В 1242 году на этом месте немецкий орден построил каменный замок, от которого до сегодняшнего времени сохранились только отдельные фрагменты стен и свод подвала, в котором по предварительной договоренности можно заказать дегустацию вина местного производства. В более поздние времена здесь находился замок герцога Курземе, который был разрушен во время Северной войны (1701 год). В результате проекта реконструкции парка созданы деревянные мостки, информационные стенды, построена беседка и фонтан. В парке возведены отдельные скульптуры и их группы (22 скульптуры, автор Ливия Разевска). |

Ярко-белое в солнечный день здание, которое находится в южной части поселка, заметно издали. Первую деревянную церковь в честь св. Петра и Павла здесь построили в 1759 году иезуиты. Современная церковь строилась полутора столетиями позже - в 1893 году. Осмотреть храм изнутри можно во время богослужения. В церковном саду захоронен священник литовского происхождения и скульптор по дереву Антон Римович (1865 - 1933). Напротив церкви стоит приходской дом. |
