This is the most impressive and colourful set of cliffs along the Vidzeme coastline.  Waves have created the steep shore that is as much as 6 m high, with several hundred meters of red sandstone cliffs with narrow caves, niches, grottos and other formations.  The nearby Veczemu farm is where the Rīga Film Studio shot the films “Long Way into the Dunes” and “The Nest of the Old Fisherman.”

Der Brauer hat nicht nur das Rezept geerbt, sondern auch das Zubehör und so hat er in seinem Hof eine Ausstellung mit altem Gerät zum Bierbrauen eingerichtet.

Nördlichen Befestigungswerke, die an der Küste des baltischen Meeres liegen (teilweise abgespült), sind nur ein kleiner, jedoch ein beeindruckender Teil von dem einzigartigen Fortifikationssystem in Liepāja, das die Stadt im ganzen Umfang umgibt. Die unterirdischen Bunker der Befestigungswerke haben zwei Etagen und es lohnt sich sie in Begleitung des gebildeten Reiseführers von Karosta zu besichtigen (organisierte Exkursionen von Gefängnis in Karosta). Neben den Befestigungswerke liegt einen Autoparkplatz. Es lohnt sich beim Besuch der nördlichen Befestigungswerke die etwa 4 km lange Strecke entlang der Küste bis zu der nördlichen Mole von Liepāja zu gehen. Hier kann man die zwei Küstenschützbatterien an der Meeresküste und im Meer, als auch sehr beeindruckende Ansichten sehen.

Kihnu is the largest island in the Gulf of Riga, with an area of 16.4 km2. It is only 7 km long and 3.3 km wide. Kihnu's cultural space and traditions are included on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. There are four villages on the island and the islanders still wear national dress as everyday apparel. The unique atmosphere of the island can be experienced during a guided day programme. Kihnu Mare, the local guide, has developed her own traditional culture network with the people who have the know-how and skills to demonstrate for visitors the different aspects of Kihnu culture: the language, the traditional clothes, farming and fieldwork, handicrafts, the preparation of traditional foods, folklore, church life, singing, and dancing at weddings and village parties, as well as their traditions surrounding the sea, fishing, seal hunting and living with nature.
