After the firing of the products in a kiln, you will be able to take them along as a fine souvenir which confirms our newly discovered skills. Found in the Alsunga Museum, the workshop has been open since 2009, showing people how various ceramics can be made from clay. Visitors can try their hand at the task or just watch as the clay is shaped, spun and, finally, glazed. |

This farm offers tours for children who can become friends of horses, look at Angus cattle and learn about a dairy farm. The children are transported in a specially adapted cart that is pulled by a tractor. The farm plans to purchase some alpacas in 2018. |

On the banks of Little Lake Ludza is a farm with a house, windmill, threshing barn and the workshop of the Lettigalian ceramicist Polikarps Vilcāns. Various events related to craftsmanship and culture are organised there. |

Until 13th century, Smiltene region was a part of Talava country, inhabited by Latgalians. After Crusaders invasion it was won by the Archbishop of Riga, and he built a stone castle on the steep river bank of Abuls in 1370. The following wars and epidemics did not spare the development of settlement, nor the people. Present shape of the town began to emerge in 19th century along with the vigorous activities of owner of Smiltene manor first Lieven. Until the World War I, wood working factory, hydroelectric power plant (established in 1901, first in the Baltics), and other companies were operating in Smiltene. In 1944 when the German forces retreated, much of the Smiltene historical buildings were destroyed in the fire. |

The church is on the highest part of the banks of the Marku river, and it is behind the Piedruja border control point. A paved street leads to the church, and it is thought that it was built in the early 20th century by local farmers, who were required to bring stones for the street when they attended worship services. The church has six cupolas and is seen as one of the most beautiful ones in the Krāslava Administrative District. The building was erected between 1883 and 1885 to replace an old 17th century wooden church. It corresponds to the architectural form of the Old Russian town of Vladimir and the Byzantine style. It is said that at one time the church had as many as 1,000 members. |

The park was founded by the gardener Arvīds Janitens. Professor Raimonds Cinovskis has said that Arvīds is just amazing, because he alone did work that would usually be done by a big group of people. This is one of the most popular tourism destinations of its kind in Latvia.
