The farm, which has been developed around the servants’ home of the former Ķempēni Estate, breeds more than 200 Latvian dark-headed sheep. Visitors can purchase meat, wool and skins, also taking part in informational tours with tastings of various foods, as well as catching and tasting trout (this is available only to those who spend the night at the venue).

Rijā notiek ikgadēji ar dzūku kultūru un vēsturi saistīti pasākumi. Visbeidzot, te var iegādāties vietējos suvenīrus un medu. Ja ir vēlme iepazīt Marcinkones tuvāko apkaimi, ar kājām var doties pa 13 km garo Zackagira dabas taku (Zackagirio gamtinis takas).

The farm is along the upper reaches of the Daugava Ancient River Valley, and it offers more than 100 types of plants, including decorative plants, herbs, medicinal plants and traditional Latvian farm plants. You can tour the largest field of so-called Northern kiwis in Latvia. Take a tour, purchase plants, taste teas, fruits and berries, and receive consultations from the owner.

The castle was built during the first half of the 19th century in Tudor Neo-Gothic forms.  The first owner of the castle was Baron Johann Gottlieb von Wolff.  During the 1870s and 1880s it was rebuilt in the style of French Neo-Renaissance.  The castle was burned down during the 1905 Revolution, but it was restored with certain elements of Art Nouveau forms.  Tours are available of the interior of the building.

To the south of Koknese, the Destiny Garden is on an island that is surrounded by the waters of the Pļaviņas hydroelectric power plant (there is a bridge to the shore).  The aim of this fundamental open-air object was to commemorate people in Latvia who suffered because of totalitarian regimes.  The first work here began in 2008, and the designer of the landscape was a Japanese landscape architect, Shunmyo Masuno.  Work on the garden continues, but it is already a popular tourist destination.  The first permanent structure is a terrace that offers a view of the Koknese castle ruins and the local Lutheran church.  This means that there will be something new each time that people visit the park.  People are invited to bring rocks for this nationally important location that commemorates Latvia’s history.

Opekalns (arī Apukalns, Opekols) ir paugurs Alūksnes augstienē, 235 metrus virs jūras līmeņa, Veclaicenes pauguraines viena no augstākajām virsotnēm. Tā virsotnē uzcelta Opekalna luterāņu baznīca (1774—1779), kas ir visaugstāk virs jūras līmeņa novietotais dievnams Latvijā. Opekalna ciemā dzimis leģendārais Dziesmu svētku virsdiriģents Haralds Mednis.

The windmill was built between 1867 and 1869 after a design first produced in the Netherlands.  Its name is that of its first owner – Riba.  The windmill is one of the best preserved architectural monuments of its type in Latvia, and it offers an educational exhibition, “The Path of the Grain.”  It talks about the development of agriculture in Zemgale and about grain farming and the baking of bread.  Guided tours are available.  The windmill is part of the Rožmalas leisure complex, which features a hotel and a restaurant.

Motel Marine is located close to the centre of Ekenäs and is a minute's walk away from the beach. Here reception works 24 h and is always ready to help you. This motel offers different kinds of rooms starting with single rooms to big family rooms with kitchen included. All rooms have their own entrance. There is also a restaurant and sauna in the motel.

This guesthouse and dendrological garden are found near Kuldīga, and its pond has trout and carps.  The Sauleskalni arboretum is alongside the guesthouse.  It was established in 1960 and features some 100 types of plants and bushes, including 25 local types and 16 types of rhododendrons.   Unique samples include a 50-year-old magnolia tree, a 45-year-old smoke tree, a maidenhair tree, and others.  Donations are accepted.  The owners will discuss history and the gardeners who created the garden.  Various plants are available.
