Находится в стороне от площади Куршу, ул. Э.Венденбаума, д. 1. Старейшая церковь города, сведения о которой сохранились с 1508 года. Первый храм на этом месте был построен из дерева. После неоднократных перестроек (последняя – в 1893 г. под руководством архитектора Лиепаи Пауля Макса Берчи) храм приобрел теперешний вид в неоготическом стиле с башней высотой около 60 м. Церковный интерьер славится одним из самых выдающихся шедевров времен барокко в Латвии – алтарем (резчик по дереву Николя Сефренс младший), который в 2012 году отметил свое 350-летие.Алтарь считается одной из самых выдающихся работ Восточной Европы того времени. Ретабло алтаря (5,8 x 9,7 м) известно тематическим циклом страданий Иисуса. В храме находится третий по величине орган Латвии, который построен по эскизам композитора и органиста Альфреда Калниньша. Церковь можно осмотреть изнутри и подняться на колокольню. |

In Metsanurme Village Centre you can see restored old threshing barn, limestone barn oven and few tools that were used ages ago. You could be also interested in seeing an outdoor exhibition which focuses on historical agricultural tools. All of this is made to look interesting to not only locals but also visitors. |

The carpenter’s workshop offers special excursions and events for grown-ups and children; there are some thematical programmes available. Under the guidance of a craftsman it is possible to work with traditional wood-working tools and get to know ancient games. In the end you will have a chance to try special „strengthening” tea and have a picnic in a romantic Bonfire house. It is possible to buy wooden souvenirs as well as order them. |

The workshop offers a look at lanterns, candelabras, hinges, fireplace tools, stair railings and gates that have been manufactured there, as well as several exhibits from the 18th century. You can produce your own nail, and the blacksmith will also “test” young couples. He also accepts orders for products. |

This is a stretched-out territory from Valmiera to the Ape Administrative District, and its primary “axis” is the unregulated Gauja River valley with a dense web of old rivers, park-like meadows of oak trees on their banks, and stands of oaks and other broadleaf trees. Many rare and protected birds, including corn-crakes, woodpeckers, wood grouses and others live and breed here. This is also one of the most important places in Latvia in terms of where the deciduous tree hermit beetle lives.

This is one of the most outstanding areas in the entire Baltic States with active underground waterways which still, to this very day, dissolve local gypsum rock. Parts of the area collapse regularly, and there are legends about all of this. Underwater rivers, streams, the so-called Karvės (Cow) cave, etc., can be seen in the area.

This nature park protects the landscapes of the Latgale highlands. Of importance here are Lake Ruskulis and Lake Cīrītis with its eight islands, along with the forests of the area. An ancient castle hill is on one of the islands in Lake Cīrītis – the Upursala island. There and on the Oši island, specialists have found more than 250 species of plants. |

During the excursion the vistiors can learn about the traditions of growing grapes in Latvia, to see and taste the newest tendencies of grape selectioning,as well as receive advice on growing and tending grapes. This is another place (at A. Brodeles Street 7) which must certainly be visited by those who are interested in the cultural environment of the historical region of Selonia. The museum was established in 2000, and much of its exhibition can be found at the depot of the former narrow-gauge railroad (the depot was built in 1948, and the railroad operated between 1916 and 1972). There you can see a restored locomotive, a passenger wagon, a trolley, etc. The exhibits reflect the lives of major personalities in and around Viesīte, also looking at events and the cultural heritage. There are wood processing and textile workshops at the museum. Outside the building is a fragment from the narrow gauge railroad, along with a water pump. |
